However, thinking about how things had come to such a point, and himself being seriously injured, Dalheid couldn’t help but fall into hesitation.

Kaled, sitting beside Jules, was secretly anxious. He thought, what on earth is the Duke of Dalheid still hesitating about?!

If Dalheid, as the Duke of Leonais, did not permit, then even if Laine was willing to support, he could not step into the duchy’s territory. This would be considered illegal entry and could cause a very serious diplomatic dispute.

”Alright, there’s no other way now.” Dalheid finally nodded, ”Jules, I’ll leave this matter to you. I permit Laine and his army to temporarily enter my territory.”

The knights inside the castle relaxed upon hearing this. Laine’s prestige resonated throughout the Kingdom, and his troops were extremely well-equipped, also receiving support from several southern dukes. If he led the army for reinforcement, the plight of Leonais Castle would be greatly alleviated.

After exchanging a few words, the topic returned to the defense of the castle.

Leonais Castle is a seaside fortress with a vast area, built from very sturdy stones and constructed under the costly guidance of Dwarfs, sufficient to withstand catapults and imperial artillery. However, the knights had witnessed the power of the Chaos Hell Cannon, and they knew this fortress still struggled to resist its assault.

More importantly, Leonais Castle had not experienced warfare for nearly five hundred years.

”We cannot remain trapped inside; the firepower of the Chaos Hell Cannon will engulf us. We must find a way to destroy the Chaos Hell Cannon, or else this city will also fall,” a Holy Grail Knight whispered. The Great Southern Battle had concluded, with two Holy Grail Knights having fallen, Sirulf’s battle flag severed, and morale within the city was uneasy.

”Indeed, the Chaos Hell Cannon poses a tremendous threat to the walls.” In Jules’ blue eyes burned the fury of the Goddess. His anger was like the fire of a giant dragon, unceasing. Jules regarded the Great Southern Battle’s defeat as a massive disgrace: ”We must find a way to destroy the Chaos Hell Cannon.”

”Destroy the Chaos Hell Cannon? But how can we destroy it?” Dalheid, heavily wounded, was unable to act. He felt his mind in a fog, having to seek further aid from the Holy Grail Knight Commander.

”Anara’s magic will cover us, so... I have a plan.” Jules addressed everyone: ”We need to select the twenty strongest knights within the castle...”

Jules revealed his plan.

”Hmm~”

After a brief celebration, the Barbarians spent three days continuing southwards, stopping only ten kilometers from Leonais Castle to set up camp. Later, a grand feast was held in a destroyed village, where the Barbarians took out the vast amounts of food they had seized and the wine cellars of the Brittania people, indulging recklessly.

Egil sat in the main seat, his pale eyes radiating a blood red glow. One cup of ale after another was consumed by him, as Chaos Champion Cowende presented him a roasted leg of beef. Egil laughed heartily; the southern people might indeed possess some strength, but they had already reached the front of Leonais Castle. That towering fortress was completely exposed within the sight of the Barbarians, and tomorrow his army would attack Leonais Castle, leveling this construction that the southern people prided themselves on to the ground, utterly destroying it.

While the Barbarians lit bonfires and celebrated freely under the pitch-black night sky, convening the banquet, a thin mist began to rise from the Barbarian camp, yet none of the Barbarians paid it any mind. They continued drinking and reveling, even engaging in contests. Many Barbarian Warriors had secured enough heads in this war and were evolving toward Chaos Warriors. Many Chaos Warriors had already ascended into Chaos Chosen Warriors, with black hard lumps appearing on their bodies. Given time, these black lumps would naturally grow into Chaos Armor, and so the Barbarians never worried about their armor, for it was all a blessing from the God of Chaos.

When a Chaos Chosen Warrior continued to earn the favor of the Evil God and progressed, they would become a Chaos Champion.

At this moment, a pregnant woman, Hengest, holding a golden goblet filled with clear liquor, swayed herself into the banquet scene and presented the goblet to Egil: ”My warrior, the greatest King of Skalings, let us drain this cup to wish you and our child health and longevity.”

Egil, in high spirits at the time, held no regard for the woman Hengest despite being the Divine Chosen Champion of Khorne, but her timing for toasting was impeccable. Having just secured a significant victory, Egil found no reason to refuse. Delightfully, he took the goblet and downed it in one gulp: ”To the health and longevity of our child! Hahahaha!”

Seeing Egil drink down the goblet, a flash of light passed through Hengest’s eyes. She accompanied Egil for another cup, then feigned being overwhelmed by the drink, choosing to retire and vanish into the mist.

Egil paid no mind to this and gestured for the Barbarians to continue their feast, grabbing a beef leg himself and eating with abandon.

The Barbarians sang songs of the Blood Berserkers, tales of a Barbarian Berserker named Gnut who had, over endless ages, offered countless heads as gifts to Khorne’s Brass Throne and ultimately ascended, becoming a terrifying Demon Prince.
