Warhammer Divine Throne

PS; The Northern Barbarians revere the Four Gods equally, and each individual particularly worships one of the Chaos Four Gods. It’s not that a tribe mainly devoted to Khorne doesn’t have wizards.

As Egil and several dozen Skalings Chaos Warriors stepped into the ruined village, a scout from the front line brought news.

In the storm and cold wind, a raider rider galloped on a warhorse, with a string of human heads hanging behind his mount. The expressions on many of the heads were frozen in the extreme fear they felt at the moment of death, and they were still dripping blood.

”My king! Our fleet has surrounded this island, no living soul will escape, and no one will send any messages from here.” The scout said to Egil.

”And the battle?” Egil’s voice was calm. The king’s war axe craved blood, yet these weak Southerners could not satisfy Egil.

”All the remaining resisting Southerners on the island have retreated into a temple.” The scout continued: ”That is the Lake Fairy Temple on this Landri Island.”

”Lake Fairy Temple?” Egil asked in confusion.

The king of the Skalings had raided southward many times, yet he always held a deep disdain for the lowly beliefs of the Southern people, therefore he had never attempted to understand their faith.

”Let me explain, Father.” His adopted son, the Chaos Mage Chakoy, took over the conversation, calmly speaking to Egil: ”The Lake Fairy is considered the symbol and paragon of the knightly path... about a thousand years ago, a lord of Bastogne, Arthur, received the blessing of this deity as he faced defeat...”

On the way, Chakoy explained the Lake Fairy faith in detail, but Egil felt only contempt and disgust. This Champion of Khorne disdainfully said: ”A false little god, weak and decadent, favoring the defeated, having none of the mysterious, wise, and enterprising qualities of the true Northern Gods, content with its own weak dominion, such a deity is doomed to destruction.”

On the island, only the guards within the Lake Fairy Temple continued to stubbornly resist. The raiders used simple battering rams to smash against the temple doors, wooden doors echoing with cracks. Egil could even hear the helpless prayers and cries from within the temple.

This made him increasingly disgusted with these lowly Southerners.

Soon, the temple gates were breached, and hundreds of barbarian raiders stormed the temple in a frenzy of slaughter, sparing no one. A Lake Goddess Saintess tried in vain to release protective divine arts to safeguard the civilians, but was struck down by a single axe blow, staining her white gown with blood.

In the embrace of the Crimson Guard, Egil approached the fallen Lake Goddess Saintess. The king of the Skalings looked down with disdain upon the Lake Goddess Saintess lying on the ground.

”You will be cursed! Vile barbarian!” The Lake Goddess Saintess said with a venomous tone: ”You have desecrated the Lady’s sanctuary, you will be cursed by the Lady, and the noble Holy Grail Knights will sever your head, making it the Lady’s trophy.”

”Ha! Hahaha!” Egil laughed heartily, a laughter indescribably cruel and bloody. He was not angry; on the contrary, the Champion of Khorne wore a sinister and playful smile. He signaled his men not to kill the Lake Goddess Saintess yet, but to let her witness the carnage within the temple with her own eyes.

The once clean and tidy temple was now drenched in blood; all the peasants and free people who had fled into the Lake Fairy Temple were butchered. The barbarian warriors laughed heartily, removing their heads from their bodies, cutting down the guards, dragging the refugees from their hiding places to be torn apart.

”Before you die, understand that your death is not in vain. The great Blood God will relish your blood and heart. Soon, the will of the gods will march upon your Brittanian land. The power of Chaos will sweep the world, and your proud armies will be slaughtered. Finally, the great Khorne will cut down your Lake Fairy with his brass axe, and her head will fall along with her pride onto the ground.” Egil spoke slowly, his towering frame blocking the sunlight, leaving only shadows: ”Now, you know the truth.”

With that said, the Hell Battleaxe fell, and the eyes of the Lake Goddess Saintess could not close in her death as her head rolled down the temple steps, coming to rest beside the statue within.

The tide-like barbarian warriors flooded the entire temple.

Egil stepped on the Lake Goddess Saintess’s head, raising his eyes with satisfaction to behold his offering to Khorne—a feast of blood.

The Champion of Khorne quickly noticed something displeasing—it was a statue in the center of the temple depicting the Lake Fairy weeping for the people.

The statue seemed to have a lifelike quality, and Egil felt as if a pair of cold eyes were staring at him through it. The Champion of Khorne inexplicably felt a surge of irritation. His rage brimmed over as he swung his war axe, chopping the statue of the Lake Fairy into two pieces which crashed to the ground.

Yet, as Egil imagined, nothing happened.

This undoubtedly confirmed the superiority of the Northern Deities. Egil loudly roared: ”Blood for the Blood God! Skulls for the Skull Throne!”

”Blood for the Blood God! Skulls for the Skull Throne!!!” In the unending smoke and ruins, the entire barbarian army roared, as if declaring the arrival of Northern wrath.

The Chaos Mage Chakoy simply used magic to scry the woman destined to bear the heir for the Champion of Khorne.

This woman was hiding in a cave on the coastline of Landri Island. Egil immediately ordered his capable subordinate Chaos Champion Cowendeve to lead his guard to this cave.

About an hour later, Cowendeve returned with a young and beautiful woman, with charming looks and captivating grace. The moment Egil saw her, he immediately realized she was the woman prophesied to bear him a son: ”Who are you?”

”Hengest...” The woman calmly walked through the countless Chaos Warriors to stand before Egil: ”I too received the oracle, the deities destined us to meet.”

”Hengest? That’s not your original name. You have golden hair and blue eyes; you were once a noble of this kingdom.” Egil said calmly: ”Tell me, your original name.”

”My original name was... Elizabeth. But that doesn’t matter anymore; I am now just a fallen person.” The woman trembled at Egil’s towering figure and terrifying presence, yet she still mustered calmness: ”You need me, don’t you?”

”I don’t need you, but I need a son.”

......

Brittania, South, Count Glamorgan’s Domain.

At dawn, the sky was dim, and in the large bed of the Count’s castle bedroom, Laine was sleeping soundly, holding the Dark Elf. Ollica’s face was flushed, as she clutched Laine’s neck, leaning on his chest.

”Laine~ Laine~ wake up~” A gentle call echoed in the mind of the Lake Fairy’s Chosen Champion.

Laine awoke from his dream, feeling a bit uncomfortable being woken up at dawn, but the Count quickly got up: ”My Lady?”

”Laine, come quickly, come to my tower, something has happened in the north.” The Lake Fairy’s voice was somewhat urgent.

”I’m coming immediately!” Laine got up and dressed, as Ollica rubbed her eyes sleepily: ”Master? What’s wrong?”

”There’s an oracle, you rest for now, Ollica.” Laine lovingly kissed the Dark Elf on the lips.

”Mm.” The Dark Elf and Laine shared a light kiss, then she continued resting. Laine changed into clothes and hurriedly headed to the Lake Fairy Tower.

Upon reaching the Lake Fairy Tower, Laine found that Lilith the Lake Fairy and Lake God Witch Mogiana were both there. Seeing Laine’s arrival, Mogiana looked at him with some concern, having apparently been pulled from bed by the Lake Fairy just like him.

”What happened, my Lady?” Laine walked swiftly to the Lake Fairy’s side and queried with puzzlement.

The Lake Fairy was wearing a rose-black gauze dress with floral carvings. Upon seeing Laine, she breathed a slight sigh of relief: ”Laine, something has happened. The northern Scalings Tribe has moved south; they have overrun Landri Island, slaughtered its inhabitants, and destroyed my temple!”

A large map lay on the table in the room, and the Lake Fairy’s alabaster fingers pointed to an archipelago northwest of the Leonais Duchy.

”Barbarians, Scalings...” Laine narrowed his eyes.

Having been a Kingdom Knight of Nord, he was no stranger to these northern barbarians, but the timing was strange. Barbarians usually set out for plunder in the autumn and winter, ceasing their raids and returning to the Northern Wasteland with the start of spring around February or March.

Despite being called the Northern Wasteland, this place does have a warm period each year lasting from one month to one and a half months, providing the northern barbarians the only opportunity to plant crops and replenish livestock.

But with it being April now, this southward movement by the barbarians is truly odd.

”Leonais is very weak right now; the serfs have taken over Barimonte Castle in the north. The limited army within the duchy is scattered, quelling uprisings. The problem lies in the fact that Leonais once seized a lot of land from Musillon, possessing the longest stretch of coastline among all the duchies of Brittania, and also facing the Cursed City of Musillon to the south. Dalheid is faced with the situation of strained military resources, and now with a northern barbarian invasion, my Lady, we must gather a sufficient number of knight armies to break the Scalings berserkers.” Laine spoke to the Lake Fairy.

”I know, I have already sent a dream to Holy Grail Knight Commander Jules, instructing him to lead a squad of Holy Grail Knights and call for reinforcements to support Leonais, and to urge Dalheid to organize the military against the Scalings tribe.” The Lake Fairy nodded, pointing to the capital of the Knight Kingdom, Crona, where Holy Grail Knight Commander Jules was stationed.

Crona indeed is much closer to Leonais Duchy, and Laine had no objections to this. In fact, he lacked a pretext to intervene in this matter. The northern war is the concern of the Duke of Leonais; without orders from the king or a plea for help from Dalheid, Laine couldn’t interfere.

”Laine, there is no immediate need for you to move in the north.” The Lake Fairy thought for a moment, then shook her head.

Laine is her Chosen Champion; the Lake Fairy cannot rely on him for everything.

”I understand.”

”But be prepared, mobilize your domain, my Champion. I have a hunch,” the Lake Fairy suddenly said with uncertainty, ”perhaps this invasion looks unusual, Jules is an exceptional swordsman comparable to Imperial Standard Bearer Ludwig, he should be able to handle it.”

”But if even Jules cannot resolve this, my Champion, at that time, it will be you who is needed.” The Lake Fairy turned to Mogiana and said: ”Mogiana, send a message to Anara, asking her to go with Jules.”

”Yes!” Mogiana and the Lake Fairy headed to the third floor, while Laine remained on the fourth floor, studying the map.

The Lake Fairy followed Mogiana downstairs.

As they descended the staircase, the Lake Fairy said casually, ”You seem to have been enjoying yourself quite a bit lately, Mogiana.”

The Lake Fairy’s tone held an indescribably strange feeling.

At the same time, she stared straight at Mogiana’s abdomen.

Mogiana’s face blushed, and she couldn’t lift her head: ”I... my Lady...”

”Many things will happen today, let Laine leave.”

”Yes... yes.”

The Lake God Witch’s face was so flushed that it was nearly buried in her ample bosom.
