Warhammer Divine Throne

This councillor from the Jialan Council never considered this tower her home, instead, she merely saw it as a temporary residence.

The female councillor has been waiting for someone’s call, ready to stay by his side.

It’s just that this wait has been quite long.

After several months, the gargoyle’s access pass turned into this. The little apprentice often recalled when her mentor would curse some man through gritted teeth, yet frequently ask her if there was any letter from him, which made her want to laugh.

”Knock knock~ Councillor?” Catherine knocked on the door. Undoubtedly, Veronica must be in the room; otherwise, the gargoyle wouldn’t respond.

”Councillor?” Seeing no answer, Catherine knocked a little harder.

”Is it Catherine? Weren’t you in class?” After about ten seconds, a sweet female voice finally came from inside, sounding a bit surprised: ”Why have you come at this time?”

The door opened.

Today’s Councillor Jialan seemed to have nothing much to do. She wore a peach-colored floral dress with trailing leaves, revealing long, slender legs in flesh-colored stockings and graceful feet in cream peep-toe heels, with toenails painted in red cinnabar nail polish.

Her beautiful almond eyes looked questioningly at her apprentice. Her black-brown hair was even more vibrant than her dress, cascading down her shoulders smoother than the finest Zhendan silk. A silver-gloss pendant hung on the witch’s chest, dancing on her full bosom with her movements — it was a gift from someone and this happy pendant had never left the witch’s body.

”Stefana’s history class might be a bit dull, but you should listen to it nonetheless... Anyway, come in first.” Veronica had just woken up not long ago; the witch loved her beauty sleep, especially after dreaming of a certain man’s visit last night, which made her take quite a bit of effort to crawl out of bed in the morning.

She thought her apprentice came to find her because history class was boring.

Inside the room, the fireplace was burning robustly, the special magic firewood could steadily burn for more than eighteen hours, and various carpets covered the floor with many wooden furniture pieces atop them: a large dining table, chairs, a vanity, a cabinet.

A bottle of unfinished red wine and some bread were on the dining table, seemingly indicating that the councillor was having lunch: ”Catherine? Would you like some buttered bread?”

”Ah, no thanks! Councillor, there’s a letter for you!” Catherine hesitated for a moment, then quickly said, the little apprentice exclaiming.

”A letter for me? From whom? If it’s that idiot Matthias, just toss it!” Veronica said impatiently.

About this time last year, upon returning to the Celestial Vault Castle, Elder Aurora assigned her a lengthy and troublesome task, which was to safeguard a count during his inspection of his territory, though the pay was quite good.

The count’s son, Matthias, was stunned by Veronica’s appearance, immediately launching a fervent pursuit and persistently bothering her. The witch, being rather straightforward, used her alchemy to render Matthias infertile, thus making him an incomplete man.

The Jialan Council was still dealing with the count over this matter, but under Speaker Margarita’s will, it had been suppressed.

”No... it’s from Lord Laine,” Catherine continued, the female apprentice’s face flushed: ”A messenger arrived here at noon today with a letter from Lord Laine.”

”Laine? He still dares to write to me?!” To everyone’s surprise, Veronica wasn’t pleased; instead, her face bore a threatening look, and her sweet countenance was filled with a dangerous aura: ”He’s been a baron for several months now, and only now he thinks to write to me?”

”So this letter?” Catherine was a bit confused now, unsure of how to respond, she presented the letter to Veronica: ”Councillor, will you look at it?”

Before Catherine’s small hand was even halfway extended, the wax-sealed letter was snatched by Veronica, who glanced at the seal and, after confirming it was intact, said in a muffled voice: ”Alright, I’ve received the letter, you can go back to class now, Catherine.”

”Okay, Councillor.” The little apprentice was eager to know the letter’s content, but seeing Veronica’s displeased expression, she retreated.

Among the apprentices of the Jialan Council, there’s an age-old warning: never try to anger your mentor.

”Wait! Catherine.” Veronica, while carefully unsealing the wax, called back her apprentice, gesturing for her to come over: ”Never mind, come take a seat first.”

”Councillor?” The little apprentice ran briskly to Veronica’s side, her small face flushed.

”You’ve been with me for about three years, right? There are things I don’t wish to hide from you, here, see what Laine has written in his letter. If it only concerns his matters and says nothing about mine, toss it into the fire.” Veronica pulled her elegant hair back and handed Laine’s letter to her apprentice.

The witch’s expression was somewhat unnatural as she sat on the sofa by the fireplace, her long legs shaking incessantly, which was out of character with her usual calm and composed manner.

Catherine opened the letter.

The content of the letter narrated Laine’s recent events, detailing how he arrived in Brittania and became a Holy Grail Knight and Baron Gene, and how he participated in a Knightly Path war and ultimately won.
