Chapter 377: Chapter 160, The End of Summer, The End of the Knightly War_3

”I require an explanation, Your Majesty!”

The Duke of Dalheid also asked, ”Your Majesty, when you appointed the Commander of the Knightly Army, I reminded you that Angxi Desmond is an excellent young man, but he lacks experience. You should have let him deal with bandits and water ghosts first, rather than immediately making him the commander of the entire Knightly Army.”

”Now everything is a mess, heavens, over thirty thousand troops, more than two thousand knights, how much compensation will we have to pay for this?”

”And that is not even the most critical issue. The most critical issue is, how can we trust you again? How can we feel secure entrusting our army to you again?”

The questioning from the two Dukes put immense pressure on the King. Richard first let out a cold snort. With Louis’s questioning, he couldn’t retaliate for the moment, so he turned his focus to the Duke of Dalheid: ”Dalheid, you’re the one criticizing me now. If it weren’t for Count Adelaide, whom you appointed, who first fell into an ambush leading to the total annihilation of our troops, and then failed to hold Yulsen Castle, would Angxi have had to rush back for help? Would this outcome have happened?”

Dalheid’s voice faltered and the Duke of Leonais emphasized, ”Then Marquis Angxi also failed his duty. He should have arrived at Yulsen Castle sooner, but he was delayed on the road for too long, which led to Yulsen Castle not being defended. I believe that for the complete destruction of the Left Army and Center Army, Adelaide bears secondary responsibility, while Angxi bears primary responsibility!”

Richard knew that the Duke of Dalheid intended to shirk responsibility.

But he didn’t want to take responsibility either.

The lives of more than thirty thousand people were too heavy. The King absolutely could not be held responsible for this, otherwise, it might lead to a threat to his throne. So the King shouted angrily, ”Enough, it’s too early to draw conclusions on this matter. There are many details we don’t know yet, and I believe there are many areas where we still need to send people to investigate. Hence, I believe that the remaining Right Army should not be honored with a triumphant welcome.”

”But that boy named Laine brought back victory. He led the surviving Right Army to destroy Ten Thousand Demon Rock!” As expected, Duke of Connet Louis immediately retorted, ”If it weren’t for him, we might be facing tens of thousands of Beastmen waves next year.”

”Out of chivalric duty, he should go to aid the ally forces!” the Duke of Dalheid countered sharply, ”What does it mean to advance alone seeking merit, to abandon ally forces, and to destroy Ten Thousand Demon Rock? I can’t think why this selfish person was made a Holy Grail Knight by the Lady? I believe he should be immediately detained. I suspect that he played a disgraceful role in this Knightly War!”

”Ha! You have no right to detain a Holy Grail Knight, Dalheid. To detain a Holy Grail Knight, you at least need six Holy Grail Knights to jointly sign and report to the Grand Tutor of the Holy Grail Knight Order. Only after at least three Grand Knight Commanders unanimously agree can he be captured. Moreover, he is also the Divine Chosen Champion of the Lady. Do you want to alarm Her Highness Mogiana or even the Lady?” the Duke of Connet Louis loudly mocked Dalheid’s foolish plan, ”Is your brain stuffed with herring paste? Or are you questioning the credibility of the Holy Grail Trial? Just because you didn’t pass the Holy Grail Trial?”

”Louis, you bastard!” Not passing the Holy Grail Trial was a pain in Dalheid’s heart. Now that Louis had opened that wound, the Duke of Leonais was both embarrassed and furious, but he couldn’t retaliate.

In Brittania, no one can question the Lake Fairy and the Holy Grail System.

”Enough, this is not a knight’s assembly. I forbid you to argue like this in my Throne Hall!” King Richard ordered the two red-faced and angry dukes to stop.

Dalheid and Louis then ceased.

”Thus, with such heavy casualties incurred, we will not hold a triumphant ceremony for the Right Army. As for the disposition of Baron Gene Laine Macado, whether to reward or punish... we will discuss in detail when all the Dukes involved in this Knightly War have arrived!”
