Warhammer Divine Throne

PS. Yes, last night I stayed up late to watch the World Cup again, and when I woke up this morning, I felt completely drained.

The clear and loud sound of horns echoed throughout the late summer forest, the trees swayed violently even without wind.

”Boom~ Boom~ Boom~” Rhythmic footsteps echoed from deep within the forest.

Laine led the knights out of the camp.

It’s the elves, the legendary elves!

A giant eagle soared across the summer sky, and beneath the forest, a swarm of elf army appeared before the knights.

First to appear were the Woodland Guards, wearing robes with leather armor underneath. Most of them had stern expressions and rough skin, adorned with many leaves, each carrying a quiver on their back and a short sword at their waist. Clearly, they were the main body of this army, numbering around four to five hundred.

Then came the Eternal Guards, wielding long spears and large kite shields, clad in finer scale armor, each with a recurve bow and quiver on their back. These elves numbered about two to three hundred.

Lastly, there were a few Woodland Guards mounted on elf warhorses, known as the Woodland Cavalry, and some elves hiding their figures in hoods and masks, known as Rangers, the finest archers.

It’s a wood elf army! What are they doing here? Laine led his knights to greet them, his expression quite puzzled.

Wood elves, absolutely isolationist, living in seclusion, they almost entirely reside in the giant forest in southern Brittania — the Aisloron Forest. Additionally, there are a few wood elves scattered throughout other forests of the Old World.

This race is extremely, extremely, extremely xenophobic, never interacting with the outside world. Apart from the Brittania Kingdom, which has established diplomatic relations with the wood elves, many humans even believe wood elves do not exist, thinking the reclusive wood elves only appear in their leisure tales, ballads, or plays.

After the First Knight King Arthur founded the kingdom, the Knight Kingdom erupted into war with the wood elves. All the knights and peasant armies that intruded into the forest never returned. The wood elves also grew weary of the endless conflict with the Brittania people. Finally, after Arthur fell ill and passed away, with his body disappearing into the depths of the Fairy Lake, his eldest son, Knight King Lewis, signed a treaty with the wood elves, declaring Brittania’s renunciation of any legal claims over Aisloron and recognizing Aisloron as an independent nation. In return, the wood elves promised mutual non-aggression and mutual aid with Brittania and would occasionally establish trade relations with very few knightly nobles, depending on the situation.

Therefore, although the knights were somewhat on guard and nervous about the appearance of the wood elves, they did not harbor much hostility. On the contrary, they were more puzzled: ”Is it the sharp ears?”

”What are the sharp ears doing here?”

”This is the Lady’s territory! Get out!”

Many young Ranger Knights shouted, regardless of whether it was elves or dwarves, they looked down upon either.

The elder Kingdom Knights looked at the wood elves with complex expressions. They too did not like the wood elves, but no matter what, the wood elves and Brittania had diplomatic relations. In this moment of crisis, they did not wish to engage in battle with the wood elves.

The female knight Surya, pulling her maid close, quietly asked, ”Sylvia? What do you think these wood elves are doing here?”

”In this situation, it’s hard to say if the wood elves are friends or foes, it depends...” Sylvia gazed at Laine, who was calmly approaching.

”Hmm, it depends on Lord Laine’s negotiation.” The female knight could only stand upright, her posture tall, waiting in place.

A female Forest Lord descended from the giant eagle. This wood elf woman had fair skin and a beautiful face, but there was also a rebellious air about her. Her face was etched with complex patterns, emanating magical power and a strong sense of wildness.

Laine put away his warhammer, indicating he meant no harm, and spoke in Elvish, ”Hello, friends from the forest, I am the Holy Grail Knight, Laine Macado.”

”You speak Elvish?!” The Forest Lord appeared quite surprised, her first words were in High Gothic.

”Yes, I speak Elvish, so please tell me, my friends from the forest, can you tell me the reason for your appearance?” Laine said deeply, knowing at this critical moment, they could not engage in battle with the wood elves.

”Holy Grail Knight Lord Laine Macado, I am Forest Lord Delina. Even within the forest, we have heard your name. We have come here specifically to find you.” The Forest Lord set aside her arrogance and continued with a calm and indifferent tone, ”Eslelin does not trust humans, but the Holy Grail Knights are an exception. We have come only because of you.”

”Because of me?” Laine furrowed his brow.

”The forest is weeping, the corruption of the Child of Chaos is tainting this land. Your human armies have been wiped out. In the darkness, only you and us remain.” The wood elf spoke in Elvish, which the knights could not understand, ”Thus, we have found you, Laine Macado? Didn’t we say we would meet in a few months?”

”You have visited my domain?” Laine remembered, the Imperial Merchant Oliver had mentioned a group of wood elves had once visited Baron Gene’s Domain: ”Was that you?”
