Livestream Matchmaking: My Intel Infinitely Refreshes

Chapter 189: Chapter 187: Almost Got Sent Flying

”Is this matchmaking event... not good?” the woman asked meekly.

”It’s not that it’s bad, it’s that the quality of men here isn’t good enough for you.”

Zhang Zhe had seen all the male guests’ profiles, so he knew what they were worth. Even the most qualified man here had a background that fell short of the young woman before him.

’Of course, even if their backgrounds were a match, no one would come over after seeing what she looks like right now.’

”I’m not saying the guys your parents introduce you to are necessarily better than the ones here, but their backgrounds will definitely be better.”

”As for you, just pick the type you like from among them.”

”Huh?” The woman never expected Zhang Zhe to give such advice. She was a bit doubtful. ”I can find one I like, but what if he’s not interested in me?”

”Then keep matchmaking and keep picking.”

”Of course, your parents might say some nasty things, like blaming you for not being good enough, or saying that if you just tried a little harder, men would be interested in you.”

”Yes, that’s it, they’d definitely say that.” The young woman nodded vigorously, the look on her face showing she had experienced this before.

”No matter what they say, don’t you dare take it to heart,” Zhang Zhe reminded her. ”You should think of it this way: if your parents were high-ranking officials right now, would that man still look down on you?”

”Or rather, would he even dare to look down on you?”

[Hahaha, Brother Zhang’s advice is so good at preventing you from beating yourself up.]

[Why do I feel like he’s telling her to just go and kidnap a husband?]

[Isn’t that just like how they used to snatch sons-in-law from the list of successful exam candidates in ancient times?]

[It really is her parents’ problem, in every sense of the word.]

”It’s not that extreme, hahaha.” A long-absent smile appeared on the woman’s face, but when she smiled, she looked even more unattractive than before. It was true that being overweight could ruin everything.

Zhang Zhe, in his enlightened wisdom, predicted this young woman’s path of matchmaking would surely be a rocky one.

But after she got married, she would most likely have a good life. Her parents’ long-term suppressive upbringing had forged her mental fortitude to be stronger than the average person’s.

Her emotions were probably quite stable, too. If they weren’t, she likely would have been driven mad long ago.

”Thank you, Brother Zhang.”

”When you get married, I’ll definitely give you a big red envelope.”

”Haha, you’re too kind.”

Zhang Zhe usually charged a consultation fee. Today, he’d managed to secure future payouts, getting promises of two big red envelopes in just half a day.

The payout only came with marriage, just like a free pre-marital health check.

Since no male guests actually came over, the rest of the time passed quickly.

Zhang Zhe and the woman next to him, Ms. Li, both started to focus on their phones. They were even doing the exact same thing: messaging Xia Yi to confirm the other person’s identity.

This round of matchmaking ended quickly.

This Ms. Li left with a score of 0/0/0, smiling. However, what she gained was possibly more than any of the other women who had gone through the matchmaking.

...

While waiting for the next wave of women to enter, Zhang Zhe sized up the other Matchmakers around him.

’Judging by their expressions, none of them are having a good time!’

Some of them looked like they’d just eaten a bitter melon.

In contrast, a few Matchmakers, like Zhang Zhe, had been matched with overweight women that no one paid attention to. Their expressions were normal; they even looked a little bored and were yawning.

But the break wouldn’t last long.

Soon, a new wave of women entered.

This time, Zhang Zhe kept his eyes peeled, wanting to see who would be matched with him and who would walk over to sit beside him.

And then, he spotted a beauty.

Looks were something where the difference only became apparent through comparison. It was like when female influencers and celebrities attended an offline event together; only when they were in the same shot could you really appreciate the quality of a celebrity’s face.

Among this batch of matchmaking women, compared to those around her, the one Zhang Zhe saw was practically a Little Liu Yifei.

Although she herself might look more like Chen Duling.

Zhang Zhe’s mind raced. Female Guest No. 88. The number seemed familiar... she must be the one who’d received the most votes.

’So it’s her.’

’She’s even prettier in person than in her photo.’

Zhang Zhe glanced back in the direction of the male guests.

Holy cow. They were all stirring with anticipation. Many were exchanging opinions, but everyone’s focus was clearly on No. 88.

’Aren’t they going to go crazy in a minute?’

Zhang Zhe turned his head, curious which Matchmaker this woman had been assigned to.

’Wait, that direction is...’

”...”

’What? Me?’

’Holy shit!’

It was only when the woman sat down next to him, tilted her head with a gentle smile, and greeted him with, ”Hello, Mr. Matchmaker,” that Zhang Zhe realized:

He was screwed.

’I’m going to work myself to death here.’

...

”Yiyi, Zhang Zhe is in charge of that No. 88!”

Next to Xia Yi, her colleague Lanlan said, a bit teasingly:

”He’s not going to be tempted by her beauty, is he?”

”Zhang Zhe isn’t that kind of person,” Xia Yi replied confidently. ”But that woman... she’s so pretty, does she really need to come to a matchmaking event?”

”You don’t even know who she is?”

”She’s Sister Benz from the teachers’ college kindergarten next door! The one who smashed someone’s car.”

”Oh, I remember now. You forwarded me her video.” Xia Yi nodded. Basically everyone in their circle knew about this incident.

The rumor was that this woman was being harassed by a rich second-generation heir who had cornered her at the kindergarten entrance. The woman had a fiery temper and had grabbed a fire extinguisher to smash his car.

But others said she was the one who played with the guy’s feelings and scammed a lot of money out of him, which was why he came looking for her.

In any case, there were all kinds of rumors. This sort of gossip wasn’t anything new in the kindergarten teacher circle. If the woman hadn’t been so exceptionally beautiful, Xia Yi and the others wouldn’t have even remembered her.

”This woman definitely has a lot of pursuers.” Lanlan tugged on Xia Yi’s arm. ”Just watch. In a bit, a whole crowd is going to surround them, like they’re chasing a celebrity.”

”Doesn’t that mean Zhang Zhe is going to be the busiest person in the entire venue?”

”Definitely. Isn’t it great?” Lanlan said with a laugh. ”If it’s Zhang Zhe, I have a feeling he’s going to shut those guys down.”

”I’ve seen his livestreams. I feel like he has a low tolerance for idiots. He can’t stand it when people act stupid.”

”It should be fine, actually. He... he should be able to handle it, right?”

Xia Yi’s tone was a little worried. But when the men started to enter, she realized her worrying was for nothing.

Of the 120 male guests, at least a third of them surged toward ”Sister Benz.”

With so many people, there was no need for Zhang Zhe to deal with them one by one. It was clearly beyond what one person could handle. There’s a limit to what one can do. In a situation like this, it was best to just give up.

”Haha, incredible.” Seeing the massive crowd surging over, Zhang Zhe just laughed, completely letting go of any stress.

’Dammit, I knew there was something wrong with this matching system.’

He immediately stood up and moved to stand right next to Female Guest No. 88. It was the safest spot, lest he get trampled by this horde of men.

The last time Zhang Zhe saw a scene like this was when he passed by an elementary school at dismissal. They were also scrambling over each other, trying to be first.

The elementary schoolers ran fast because they were free. As for these men, he really had no idea what they were after.
