The Wealthy Tycoon's Game of Life

Chapter 1750: Chapter 716: She’s Getting Cocky (Part 2)

Linda had secretly made up her mind that when the time was right, she would start hinting to Jiang Mo to understand this reasoning.

On the other hand, Linda suddenly felt that the huge burden on her back seemed to have been lifted.

Before, due to being concerned with the presence of Zhou Wang and cherishing her well-paying job, Linda was quite cautious, always remembering Zhou Wang’s advice, even if it completely contradicted the survival rules of the entertainment industry, she didn’t dare defy it...

But now, since Zhou Wang went bankrupt, she felt there was no need to heed his directives anymore.

In Linda’s view, not holding a thank-you dinner to consolidate the networking of the attending guests tonight would be a colossal waste.

It’s also the best opportunity for her to announce her ”comeback” to certain people in the industry.

Tonight’s events will definitely spread through Mr. Zhao within the industry; she wanted those who avoided her during crises to see that Linda indeed had the skills to rise again, even starting from scratch with a newbie.

”The guests are arriving... Mr. Zhao, I’ll rely on you tonight; I’ll go greet them first.”

After chatting a bit with Zhao Zhixiang, Linda noticed guests arriving one after another. She quickly said goodbye and went to greet them.

”Welcome, welcome... Mr. Chen, was parking convenient?”

Among the VIP seat tickets sent out tonight, some were from Linda’s personal network.

They mainly consisted of mid-to-high-levels from major entertainment companies and a few of various so-called second generations she met while mingling in the entertainment industry.

Linda’s invitation was first responded to by these very individuals who arrived at Beidu Restaurant.

”Where is Miss Jiang? I can’t wait to have a chat with her.”

The middle-aged man whom Linda addressed as Mr. Chen laughed heartily, patting his protruding belly.

Mr. Chen, who entered the hall with his assistant, is the executive vice president of a well-known domestic film company, and one of Linda’s most valued connections.

”Jiang Mo will be here shortly, she’s probably changing right now. Mr. Chen, please find a place to sit for a while. I’ll personally bring her over to meet you soon.”

Linda said with a smile.

”Qian Ying, you really found a gem this time; her natural temperament is absolutely superb. Incidentally, we are currently looking for a high-cold, classical beauty for a cameo in our upcoming ’Ghost Blowing Light’ project...”

Mr. Chen said with a beaming smile.

”That’s wonderful, I’ll be sure to pass on this great news to her.”

Although showing surprise on the surface, Linda swore inwardly.

A cameo?

That clearly means getting something for nothing.

However, it was hard for Linda to refuse; after all, it is one of the most famous film IPs, and even a brief appearance would be beneficial for Jiang Mo’s career.

Of course, Zhou Wang did mention he hoped Jiang Mo’s initial career path would be more straightforward, but Linda conveniently forgot about it.

”But you know, such a large investment requires careful selection. We’ll need to get more familiar with Miss Jiang before moving forward.”

”Yes, of course, there’ll be a chance.”

Linda’s smile stiffened slightly, forcing herself to act as if she didn’t understand.

After dealing with Mr. Chen, a second batch of young, giggling guests arrived, but Linda remained on high alert.

The leading young man had significant connections, with his father controlling some of the TV variety shows’ approval rights... In this day and age, variety shows mean traffic, fame, and a lot of money.

To quickly achieve studio profitability and rake in the first pot of gold, mingling with such people is inevitable.

”Not bad, Sister Qian, I’ve seen Senior Sister Jiang’s performance videos. Meeting her in person, she’s far more beautiful than in the video...”

The young man chuckled, then asked, ”Sister Qian, would it be possible to tell me if Senior Sister Jiang is single?”

”Brother Xun, you’re joking. Why would that be difficult?”

Linda kept a straight face and spoke smoothly, ”Jiang Mo... Of course, she’s single, and as far as I know, she has little to no experience in this regard and hasn’t had any serious relationships.”

”Really? In this day and age, there are still girls like this? But it does fit Senior Sister Jiang’s temperament quite well. Not bad, I like it.”

The young man, known as Brother Xun, laughed heartily, contentedly leading his companions inside.

Linda sneered inwardly.

She was well aware of what was on these men’s minds, but that’s the nature of the entertainment industry. And someone like Jiang Mo, who started in art, is even more of a ”prize” in their eyes, everyone eager for a taste.

However, to Linda, this was an advantage that ordinary stars did not possess... Yes, she needed to teach Jiang Mo a few tricks on how to hook these men while extracting the maximum benefit.

Oh, and she must remind Mr. Zhou in advance... she had to make sure Zhou Wang didn’t say anything detrimental, especially when he surely wouldn’t want Jiang Mo’s career ruined at this crucial moment, right?

As Linda entertained the continuously arriving guests, she pondered these plans.

However, with time, Linda began to feel a bit perplexed.

The number of attendees... was far fewer than expected.

At least two to three hundred VIP seat tickets were given out, surely packing the auditorium, but only a scant few dozen were attending this cocktail party.

She had even worried about too many guests, specifically asking Mr. Zhao to prepare extra food and drinks.

Additionally, there was something peculiar about the attendees; the overwhelming majority were her connections, with only a few receiving tickets through various means, yet they were all quite ordinary in status.

People like those Linda had seen in the auditorium, invited by Miss Ding’s or potentially introduced by Miss Wang... not a single one showed up.

This was somewhat strange.

Linda found it difficult to understand.

Perhaps they were avoiding some kind of suspicion?

As Linda frowned, Mr. Chen approached again, looking somewhat impatient.

”Qian Ying, where is Miss Jiang? It has been over twenty minutes; isn’t that a bit rude?”

”Yes, I remember the last time I attended a gathering hosted by a big-name celebrity, I didn’t wait this long...”

Someone next to him sarcastically remarked.

Linda was jolted awake from her thoughts, realizing she was distracted by the guests and forgetting the main figure hadn’t appeared yet.

Although Jiang Mo was aloof and not great at socializing, her sense of time was strong. Linda had never seen her late for anything...

No, Linda suddenly realized, she only sent Jiang Mo a message while rushing to manage the restaurant.

But after so long, Jiang Mo hadn’t replied yet.

By instinct, Linda thought Jiang Mo wouldn’t refuse such a good opportunity to cement relationships.

Besides, she’s her manager; how could she defy Linda in such crucial matters?

Upon this realization, Linda quickly pulled out her phone.

”I apologize, she might have been held up by something, let me urge her right away. Ladies and gentlemen, please be patient; girls often take a bit longer with these things...”

Linda smiled apologetically, attempting to call Jiang Mo.

”Don’t bother; she’s not coming.”

At that moment, a calm voice sounded from behind Linda.

Linda quickly turned around to see Zhou Wang, hands in his pockets, standing in the banquet hall, expressionlessly looking at her.
