The Wealthy Tycoon's Game of Life

Chapter 263: Chapter 156 ”Top Ten Outstanding Youths of Jing City”_3

Qin Li clearly showed a look of astonishment and even subconsciously glanced into the lecture hall, but he quickly hid the odd expression and just nodded his head.

This little interlude didn’t attract much attention. Soon, as Li Xiwen took her seat, Qin Li, who was hosting, smiled as well, tapping the microphone so the lecture hall quieted down.

”Welcome new and old alumni to gather here at Jing City First Middle School. I am today’s host for the homecoming season opening event, Qin Li. First, let’s give a warm round of applause...”

After Qin Li made a simple opening, the next part was the tedious and boring speeches from the leaders.

When the official representative finished speaking, it was the turn of the distinguished alumni, Academician Lei, to speak, and this was when everyone started to become attentive.

It could even be said that many people were here just to witness the presence of the academician.

Academician Lei’s speech was not dogmatic at all, but rather witty and engaged with current affairs, causing many in the audience to occasionally show knowing smiles.

Zhou Wang couldn’t help but marvel, as this veteran of many large events truly had a way with words to affect others, a skill Zhou Wang felt he was lacking.

When Academician Lei finished speaking, there was a warm round of applause in the room that took a while to subside.

Meanwhile, Lv Bo, sitting in the audience, started to feel excited.

Today’s event was even bigger than he imagined, with not only a large audience but also the presence of the TV station and officials...

Following the itinerary, it was now his turn to speak on stage.

But quickly, Lv Bo’s expression turned surprised, because Qin Li showed no intention of continuing to host. Instead, Li Xiwen stood up from the rostrum at that moment, taking over Qin Li’s position.

”?”

”Isn’t the principal supposed to speak last?”

While Qin Li was puzzled, Li Xiwen had already reached the podium, holding the microphone with a smile:

”Good morning, everyone, I am Li Xiwen, the current principal of Jing City First Middle School.”

After the customary applause, Li Xiwen continued:

”Originally, according to the schedule, I should be the last one to speak, giving a summary. But I am standing here now because I can no longer contain my excitement and want to share some good news with you all.”

Most people in the lecture hall were puzzled, yet Li Xiwen successfully piqued their curiosity.

”Many of you may know, we at Jing City First Middle School have an Education Development Foundation. Those who don’t can check the brochures on the tables, which contain detailed explanations...”

While quite a few people started flipping through the brochures, Li Xiwen continued with a smile:

”This year marks the tenth anniversary of the foundation’s establishment, and some alumni who knew about this in advance have already transferred donation funds to our foundation’s account. We will be making announcements on our website later...”

”The good news I want to share with everyone is that just now, we received a cash donation from an alumnus... and the amount donated not only sets a record in our foundation’s history but also exceeds the total donations we’ve accumulated over the years!”

At this point, Li Xiwen paused, and the lecture hall had already erupted into a commotion.

Those familiar with the foundation’s inner workings were momentarily dumbfounded.

For those who didn’t know, even from Li Xiwen’s description, it was not hard to sense it wasn’t a small amount.

After keeping everyone on edge, Li Xiwen finally smiled faintly and said, ”The amount is... Ten Million RMB!”

After a brief silence, the lecture hall was instantly filled with gasps of amazement.

Young people like Lao Ji, sitting beside Zhou Wang, exclaimed outright in astonishment.

”Holy shit!”

”How much... the principal just said how much?!”
