Chapter 258: Chapter 155 Donate Ten Million!_2

Lv Bo chuckled.

”How am I being arrogant?

The guy seems pretty laid-back...

Besides, are we that close for you to call me Huilan?”

Zhong Huilan felt a bit uneasy and hugged her shoulders.

As for Zhou Wang acquiring Jiahui International, while it might sound like boasting, Zhong Huilan thought it wasn’t too bad...

Even if it were boasting, he still had a lot of charm!

However, Lv Bo apparently didn’t notice Zhong Huilan’s discomfort, as he laughed again and asked, ”By the way, Huilan, did you check with your leaders there? Do they still think I’m qualified?”

When it came to serious matters, Zhong Huilan had to suppress her discomfort and nodded, saying, ”I’ve already submitted your resume. I estimate we’ll have results in a couple of days. I feel like it shouldn’t be a big issue, and in the first year, getting a comprehensive annual salary of over $60,000 should be achievable...”

”A $60,000 annual salary sounds about right, I could barely make a living in Magic City with that.”

Lv Bo chuckled thoughtfully, ”It’s definitely better than slugging it out in a public hospital where there’s not much to gain now...”

”Even though the issue isn’t big, you’ll still need to come for the interview yourself.” Zhong Huilan gave a reminder without further comment.

”Got it, got it. After all, Jiahui International is among the top private hospitals in Magic City. Rest assured, I’m aware, and I won’t have that arrogant attitude.”

Lv Bo hastily assured her.

...

Zhou Wang happily got to chat with the two academicians.

These older generation scientists, at least from his perspective, seemed quite approachable.

Moreover, people who spent their entire lives on academics typically had simpler intentions. After Little Zhou joined them for a smoke, they happily took a group photo with Zhou Wang.

But as the conversation deepened, Zhou Wang found it difficult to keep up with Jiang Qingkui, and he had to watch as she took over, chatting with them with smiles.

Luckily, by the second round, Zhou Wang had enriched his cultural knowledge; otherwise, he might not have understood what the three were discussing.

The gap in education showed itself vividly at that moment, and Zhou Wang silently resolved that if his son wasn’t destined to be chosen by the system, he would ensure he studied well...

After a while, once Li Xiwen and the others had finished their brief greetings, she moved to the podium on the other side of the conference room.

Everyone realized that Li Xiwen was about to give a formal speech, so they found seats and sat down. As the smiling Li Xiwen clapped her hands, the chatter in the room subsided, and all eyes turned to her.

”First, I want to thank you all again for taking time out of your busy schedules...”

Li Xiwen began with the customary pleasantries, and after the applause, she continued by saying:

”Everyone here is a member of our Jing City First Middle School Alumni Association, and this year coincidentally marks the tenth anniversary of the ’Education Development Foundation’ founded with contributions from everyone. Due to the nature of the foundation, we can’t hold a celebratory ceremony, but a necessary summary is still required, and that’s another reason we invited you all here today...”

As Li Xiwen spoke, under her watchful gaze, Qin Li, who was already prepared, led the staff in distributing documents to everyone.

Zhou Wang also received a copy, containing the Foundation’s annual operational summary along with the financial report of the past ten years.

After skimming through it, Zhou Wang was a bit baffled.

Because it didn’t quite match his expectations...

According to the report, the total amount raised by the foundation over the past ten years was only about six million.

As of today, the total expenditure of the fund was around four million, and although the fund established three areas of spending, the main focus was on the scholarship fund to help impoverished students, which accounted for more than half of the expenditures...

Then there was about a million spent on charitable medical expenses, with the remainder covering essential operational costs of the foundation.

As for the ”construction fund” Qin Li mentioned... it basically amounted to nothing.

”This...”

”What’s up?”

Jiang Qingkui noticed Zhou Wang’s odd expression and quietly asked.

The two were sitting on a short sofa together, and if Zhou Wang were observant at that moment, he would have noticed that Jiang Qingkui’s beautiful legs, wrapped in slim fit pants, were unconsciously touching his...

However, Zhou Wang obviously didn’t notice this detail; he just replied softly, ”Why are the funds raised by this foundation so little?”

”Huh?”

Jiang Qingkui paused, taken aback, ”Six or seven million in ten years is quite a lot, isn’t it?”

After saying that, Jiang Qingkui thought it through and grasped the reason for Zhou Wang’s confusion. She chuckled and said, ”I think you might be mistaken. High school and university are still different...”

With Jiang Qingkui’s words, Zhou Wang began to understand.

Among these alumni from Jing City First Middle School, many were successful, but for most people, their first gratitude would still be for their university.

There were several reasons for this, not only because the education they received at university had a greater impact on their lives, but also because the influence of a university compared to a high school was not even on the same level...

Donating money to the university brings a different level of impact than donating to a high school.

Especially for outstanding graduates from Jing City First Middle School, most of whom went to Qingbei.

Think about the grandeur of Qingbei’s anniversary celebrations, and you’ll understand that there’s just no comparison.
