When a Blade of Grass Wants to Become Immortal

Chapter 72: Chapter 71: The Tycoon’s Little Wildcat 12

’Why is the doorbell ringing?’

Without her permission, no one should even be able to get to this floor.

Ji Xiaosong opened the security camera app on her phone and looked at the feed from outside her door.

An elderly woman with white hair, yet full of spirit, stood at the entrance. She was flanked by two rows of bodyguards and a man who looked like a housekeeper.

”Why is it taking so long for someone to open the door? Could Xiaosong not be home?”

Grandma Lu had been waiting at the door for a long time with no answer. She lifted her hand to check her watch, her delicate eyebrows furrowing.

”Perhaps Miss Ji is busy. I just asked Driver Qin, and he confirmed that he had brought Miss Ji home safely.”

Housekeeper Lu explained gently from the side. After speaking, he took out his phone and sent a message.

Ji Xiaosong had already guessed who her visitors were. She unlocked the door with the app on her phone and slowly walked over.

”And you are?”

Although she had her suspicions, she still had to feign ignorance.

The moment Grandma Lu stepped inside, her face broke into a wide smile.

”You must be Xiaosong, right? I’m Youheng’s grandmother. That boy, really... he didn’t even give me a heads-up before dropping such a huge surprise on me. The moment Grandma heard you were pregnant, I had the housekeeper arrange our private jet to fly over and see you. Have you been settling in okay here?”

Ji Xiaosong was taken aback by this sudden burst of warmth. It took her a few seconds to process it before she hurried to say, ”Grandma, please, come in. Everything is fine here. It must have been a long journey for you. Thank you for coming all this way.”

Grandma Lu took Ji Xiaosong’s hand and said affectionately, ”Not at all, not at all. As long as my granddaughter-in-law and great-grandchild are doing well, Grandma is happy to travel any distance.”

After speaking, she had the bodyguards line up, each holding a gift they had brought.

”These are some meeting gifts for you from Grandma. Our first meeting was a bit rushed, so Grandma didn’t prepare much. After you and Youheng get married, I’ll give you even more.”

The bodyguards carefully opened the gift boxes in their hands, while Housekeeper Lu stood to the side, respectfully presenting and introducing each one to Ji Xiaosong.

”Miss Ji, these are commercial properties in J Country and in various provinces back home. They have all been transferred to your name.”

”This is...”

By the time the housekeeper had finished introducing all the gifts, Ji Xiaosong could barely stop herself from gasping.

’This is way too much!’

’The Lu Family is truly extravagant.’

”Grandma, isn’t this a bit too much?”

Ji Xiaosong gave an awkward laugh. She wasn’t even married to Lu Youheng yet, and the Lu Family was already giving her so much.

”Money is just a worldly possession to the Lu Family; it’s no big deal. These meeting gifts are just some things you can use for now. Next, Grandma will take you to some events, and I’ll prepare other things for you then.”

”Alright, then I’ll be in your care, Grandma. By the way, how long will you be staying in J Country?”

”Grandma has already stepped down from her position at the company, so now I’m just an idle old lady. I don’t have anything else planned, so I’ll be here to help you get familiar with the Lu Family’s affairs. Once you’ve learned the ropes, Grandma will return home with you.”

”Huh? Why do I need to get familiar with the Lu Family’s affairs?”

Ji Xiaosong was confused. She wasn’t married to Lu Youheng.

”Oh, you!”

Grandma Lu gently poked Ji Xiaosong’s forehead with her finger.

”You’re carrying a Lu Family child, and you’ll be Youheng’s wife in the future, so of course you need to get familiar with the family’s business. It was also Youheng’s idea for me to come to J Country. He’ll be coming soon, too.”

’The entire family is moving to J Country because I’m pregnant?’

’This is...’

’That’s a bit much, isn’t it?’

”Grandma, won’t this affect the Lu Family’s business?”

”How could it? The Lu Family’s business is global. Everything is networked now, so it doesn’t matter where we work from. You shouldn’t feel burdened by this.”

In the days that followed, Ji Xiaosong came to truly understand what Grandma Lu meant by that sentence.

At F University, Ji Xiaosong’s professors tutored her one-on-one. Ms. Wu, her study companion, was supposed to attend classes with her, but Ji Xiaosong’s aptitude was so formidable that Ms. Wu eventually couldn’t keep up and had to join classes with the other students.

Everyone treated her with reverence and sought to please her. She could feel the world’s goodwill directed entirely at her.

After handling matters back home, Lu Youheng moved his office to a location 200 meters from Ji Xiaosong’s apartment building. It was the building with the most expensive real estate in the world and also the Lu Family’s headquarters in J Country.

It was only then that Ji Xiaosong learned that the entire building—an iconic landmark often used in TV shows and movies to represent a workplace for the elite—belonged to the Lu Family.

”We’re getting our marriage certificate tomorrow. Since you’re pregnant now, I don’t want you flying all over the place, so we’ll just register it here abroad first.”

Lu Youheng brought up the topic of marriage suddenly when Ji Xiaosong was four months pregnant.

Ever since he arrived in J Country, he had been so busy he was practically run off his feet.

In novels, the domineering CEOs are always at the beck and call of the female lead. But in reality, for a CEO of Lu Youheng’s status, even a short break had to be painstakingly carved out of his schedule.

Having finally cleared a day just for this, the first thing he did was hurry Ji Xiaosong off to get married.

It couldn’t be delayed any longer. If they waited, the baby would be born before they were married.

Ji Xiaosong, who was eating fruit, nearly choked. For the past few months, she hadn’t caused any trouble or made any fuss. She accepted whatever she was given and focused solely on her studies, so much so that she had completely forgotten about getting married.

”Whatever you arrange is fine.”

’It doesn’t matter whether we get married or not. I’m the one who’s having this baby.’

That morning, after submitting all the documents and with the process specially expedited, they quickly received their marriage certificate.

Ji Xiaosong hadn’t even gotten a good look at it before Lu Youheng snatched it away.

”The chances of us needing this certificate in the future are pretty slim. I’ll hold onto it for now.”

With that, Lu Youheng tucked both certificates directly into the inner pocket of his jacket.

He looked as if he was afraid Ji Xiaosong would take the marriage certificate and do something with it.

’Fine, he can have it.’ Ji Xiaosong didn’t care.

’It’s just a piece of paper, anyway.’

”In a little while, you will have officially graduated back home. I’ve already arranged for a personal assistant to handle all the related graduation matters for you. When the diploma arrives, I’ll have him deliver it to you personally.”

On the way back, Lu Youheng rattled on about all the upcoming arrangements he had made for her.

”Mm, that’s all fine.”

Ji Xiaosong had no objections. Lu Youheng had remembered every single detail concerning her.

”Today is our wedding day, after all. We should celebrate.”

Lu Youheng didn’t say how they would celebrate. He simply led Ji Xiaosong to the helicopter on the roof of their building.

This was the first time Ji Xiaosong had ever seen Lu Youheng fly a helicopter. As she watched him expertly handle the controls, ripples spread through her heart.

In her eyes, Lu Youheng had always been lofty and inscrutable. But now, as he skillfully operated the complex instruments, his gaze filled with focus and confidence, Ji Xiaosong saw a charm in him that she had never seen before.

As the helicopter slowly ascended, Ji Xiaosong looked out the window at the cityscape shrinking below, a sudden sense of anticipation building within her. She wondered what kind of celebration Lu Youheng had planned.
