When a Blade of Grass Wants to Become Immortal

Chapter 66: Chapter 65: The Overbearing CEO’s Little Wildcat 6

”I’m sorry, Teacher Xiao, but I can’t go. I have my own plans now, but I’ll be sure to check in and let you know I’m safe from time to time.”

Her counselor was also aware of Ji Xiaosong’s disposition. Once she made up her mind, she was unlikely to change it. After a few more words of persuasion, she let the matter drop.

Ji Xiaosong chatted with her counselor for a little longer before hanging up.

One week before her visa in the visa-free country was set to expire, Ji Xiaosong finally managed to secure a visa for J Country, relying on her extraordinary Medical Skill and a few timely Spells.

Ji Xiaosong did a quick calculation. There were still five months until graduation and three months until her thesis defense.

’She could probably arrange with the university to do her thesis defense online, but she’d have to pick up her diploma in person. Otherwise, her counselor definitely wouldn’t release it.’

’Oh well, I’ll just take it one step at a time.’

’I should avoid returning to the country if possible. Since Lu Youheng’s company’s HR department contacted my counselor, they’ve probably already figured out that I was the woman from that night.’

’That whole trope in novels where a woman has a one-night stand with a CEO and then mysteriously vanishes... that almost never happens in real life.’

So it was only a matter of time before she was found. Ji Xiaosong had been preparing for this all along; otherwise, she wouldn’t have fled the country immediately.

As soon as she arrived in J Country, Ji Xiaosong picked a place to buy a house and started preparing to get her driver’s license.

In a place like J Country, not knowing how to drive was like having no legs. Relying on walking or public transportation to get around was absolute torture.

The memory of riding the subway just once, right after she’d arrived, was enough to make Ji Xiaosong want to throw up.

’Thankfully, I managed to make some money in that visa-free country. Otherwise, getting by here in J Country would be a real struggle.’

’Since I’ll be staying in J Country for a long time, the first thing I need to figure out is a work visa.’

’I’m still on a tourist visa, so working illegally is out of the question. If I get deported, all my preparations will have been for nothing.’

’So, I have to go back to school. I at least need to get a proper license, or else I’ll be practicing medicine illegally.’

’Surviving in modern society is so damn hard!’

’How do those female protagonists in novels go abroad for a few years and become some kind of world-class tycoon? How on earth do they manage that?’

’Just studying and getting certified takes forever!’

Ji Xiaosong lay in the yard of her new villa, staring speechlessly at the sky. There wasn’t a single neighbor around. ’Oh, right,’ she thought, ’no security cameras either.’

With a sigh of resignation, she used a Spell to fill the yard with fruits and vegetables, then went back to her books to prepare for the exam in a month’s time.

She had already calculated it: even taking the fastest route, getting a license to practice medicine legally would take four to seven years.

’Before that, I need to make some investments to earn some money.’

’Whoops, and I’ll have to sort out my visa again. Otherwise, that would be illegal too.’

Ji Xiaosong silently cursed a few times before resolving to continue being a good, law-abiding citizen.

If she had stuck with the construction industry, she could have used her degree from back home to apply to prestigious universities abroad.

But alas, she had changed fields, so she had to start everything from scratch.

「Back in China」

Lu Youheng pinched the bridge of his nose and interrupted Assistant Wu’s report.

”Is there still no news about Ji Xiaosong?”

Assistant Wu paused his report and checked the information he had gathered from various sources.

”Miss Ji has gone to J Country and is currently living in a suburb in B Province. We happened upon this information because the villa she bought was one our group developed twenty years ago.”

Jinhai Group’s enterprises were spread across the globe, so of course, they had a hand in the construction industry as well.

”Do I have any upcoming trips to J Country?”

”You have one in five months, but nothing sooner. Additionally, we still haven’t been able to determine how Miss Ji got into your room. As for her motive, we’re even more in the dark. I’m very sorry.”

”Evading all the security cameras so perfectly isn’t something an ordinary person could do. Since you can’t find anything for now, stop investigating. I’m well aware of your capabilities. There’s no need to blame yourself.”

”Mr. Lu, you have a three-day vacation available in a month. The flight from Qingming City to B Province in J Country takes twenty-seven hours. If we arrange for your private jet, we could go and meet with Miss Ji.”

Lu Youheng’s fingers rested on Ji Xiaosong’s file on his desk, tapping it lightly a few times.

”Fine. You arrange it.”

’It’s time we met. I can’t just let this woman keep hiding.’

’Besides, what is she hiding from me for?’

’It’s not like I’m going to eat her alive, is it?’

*

「The Ji family home」

Mr. Ji and Mother Ji were still unable to contact Ji Xiaosong. The Wang Family had come and trashed their home several times, and it only ended after Mother Ji signed an IOU for eighty-eight thousand.

The engagement was called off, but Mother Ji’s leg was left permanently lame from the Wang Family’s repeated attacks.

Her previously broken hand hadn’t healed properly, and the doctor said she would never be able to do heavy labor again.

Mr. Ji cursed and grumbled every day, ordering Mother Ji to go to Qingming University and cause a scene.

But having been hauled to the police station once, Mother Ji didn’t dare to actually cause a disturbance.

Yet she didn’t dare defy Mr. Ji’s demands, so every time she left, she would only pretend to go to the university to make a scene, when in reality she was just finding a place to hide for a while.

Mr. Ji himself didn’t dare cause trouble. After all, Mother Ji had been taken into custody and almost sent to a psychiatric hospital.

If he went and caused a scene, the same thing might happen to him.

He had always been one to know what was good for him; he would never do something like that.

Ji Xiaosong gradually adapted to her life in J Country. Studying was a breeze for her; she could memorize theoretical concepts after reading them just once.

After choosing a school, registering for classes, and passing the language exam, she finally had time to think about how she was going to make money.

Rongrong floated over and offered a suggestion.

”Song, I’ve read in novels that the main character can just waltz into the financial market and make a ton of money really quickly.”

”Forget it. I don’t understand any of that stuff, and I don’t have nearly enough money to manipulate the market anyway. Let’s not even consider it.”

”Then... what about buying a lottery ticket or scratch-offs?”

Ji Xiaosong’s eyes lit up. ”You know, that actually makes sense. I can’t guarantee a win with the lottery, but scratch-offs... that could work. Ordinary people don’t have Divine Sense, so they can’t see what’s underneath, but I can!”

Now that she had a plan, Ji Xiaosong quickly put it into action.

It would be at least another six months before she could get her driver’s license, so Ji Xiaosong had Rongrong take her.

Thankfully, there weren’t many security cameras in the area, which made things easier for her.

Over the next two weeks, Ji Xiaosong traveled to different locations, picked out the biggest prize, and went straight home after claiming it.

She wasn’t a greedy person. If she won every single prize, she would definitely attract unwanted attention.

So, she only went for the single largest prize, silently claiming it while wearing the Phantom Mask she had brought with her from the Phoenix Clan in her second life.

This time, she won eight hundred and eighty thousand, enough to live on for several years.

Meanwhile, Lu Youheng’s vacation had arrived.

Assistant Wu arranged the private jet and filed the flight plan. The moment he finished work that day, Lu Youheng boarded the plane for an overnight flight to J Country.

Ji Xiaosong, still sound asleep, was completely unaware that the very person she was hiding from was about to arrive on her doorstep.
