Pillar of Yita

He was actually unable to move, not because he had fallen into a nightmare, but because the opponent’s movements were too fast.

It was as if a series of afterimages were left behind in the darkness, moving like a ghost.

Before he could make a sound, he felt a chilling sensation pass through his throat.

Making him involuntarily shiver.

...

At that moment, everyone heard a piercing scream coming from the front: ”Waaa—”

The sound abruptly stopped.

It sounded as if some Papalarian had suddenly died, nearly scaring Tianlan into jumping up: ”Parker!?”

Several people underground, including Walnut, turned back to look at Fang Hong.

But they only saw Fang Hong shake his head:

”Don’t worry.”

He was a bit speechless internally, having already cursed Parker, the living treasure, once over.

”Don’t mind him, it’s fine.”

Immersed in the darkness, the Clockwork Fairy had long witnessed the entire occurrence and its conclusion—

A glint of cold light was appearing from the darkness.

Behind it was a narrow sharp blade cutting through the darkness, reflecting a pair of silver ash eyes, as cold as ice, as sharp as an owl.

Before the monster could grab the Papalarian’s throat with its icy claws, the blade was already thrust out from behind the latter, splitting into its crystal-like skull with one strike.

The crystal emitted a splintering sound, the blade passing smoothly downward with no resistance, and the monster’s body shattered in pieces, scattering like a crumbling statue, collapsing into two halves on the ground.

And Parker, as if he were the one being cut down, closed his eyes and screamed in fright.

Only after screaming for a while did he realize he seemed to still be alive. He couldn’t help but open his eyes, blink a few times, and touch his neck, only to find it intact.

Parker looked up to see that the Big Catman had already passed him by, the other holding the Holy Sword, poking around in the scattered pieces on the ground.

”How do you feel?”

”Wait, you knew it was there!?”

”Not exactly sure.”

”Not exactly sure!?” Parker shrieked, ”Damn it, this isn’t the first time!”

”Really, when was the last time?”

”Uh, around a year ago, in the Traveler’s Swamp... No, wait, don’t change the subject,” Parker was almost faint from anger, ”You can’t keep doing this, are all the knights of Marlan like you?”

”Overall, I’d say I’m somewhat of a unique type,” the Big Catman laughed with elegance, bending down to pick up a piece of fragment, examining it, ”Actually I wanted to see if it had a brain, but it seems relatively easy to handle.”

”Re—la—tive—ly—easy—to—han—dle,” Parker said through gritted teeth, ”I always feel like you’re saying I have no brain.”

”No, Parker, not at all.”

”Then why are you laughing, damn it.”

”You don’t think Paladins have to always be serious, do you, Parker? If you have that kind of fantasy, I can reluctantly oblige.”

”No, I don’t, shut up.”

When Fang Hong arrived, he saw the gloomy Crossbow Shooter standing nearby.

And the Big Catman was handing over something, a ring, which seemed to be a relic from a former Invoker. The Lion Paladin placed the ring in his furry palm, looking at him: ”This is what Parker found.”

”I found it, nearly died for it, blamed someone for it.” The Crossbow Shooter immediately turned his head and said loudly.

”Aren’t you still alive? I think the Big Catman stepped in just in time.”

”Damn Alchemist!”

Fang Hong shook his head, ”Alright, you’ll be credited.”

The darkness was silent, after a while the faint voice asked: ”Really, is there a reward?”

”Uh, a little.”

”A little!” Parker ground his teeth, ”That’s promised then.”

He then ran back eagerly.

Causing Tianlan and Gita to chuckle, they had seen Parker like this plenty of times.

This reminded them of the days they used to adventure with Miss Atira, though back then Miss Atira always had a way to handle the Papalarians.

Now it’s Brother Ade’s turn.

Walnut and the others underground, being outsiders, had nothing much to say, merely staring dumbfoundedly at the pieces on the ground.

Fang Hong also looked at those pieces. And a line of gray-white text was floating in the darkness at the moment:

Crystalysis Beast (Disorderly Minions)

Crystalysis Beast seemed to be the classification of its species, while Disorderly Minions was the name of the monster itself.

In the context of Eteliria, generally speaking, anything with prefixes like disorderly, moving, wandering, or activator often referred to Constructs that were unavoidable.

Disorderly Guards, Moving Golem, Wandering Armor, and Activator Matter, these were all classic Construct Beasts in this world; they were once artificial objects, but for some reason gained intelligence, either through spell enlightenment, soul infusion, or control by a ghost pretending to be god.

But if anything is a Construct, they all had one thing in common, which was that they had must have been artificial creations or products of some intelligent race.

However, on the gigantic corpses from before, he hadn’t found signs of such characteristics. Their sharp rock-like appearance resembled more so some kind of near Earth Elemental Creature.

And until now.

Fang Hong discovered from these crystal fragments, layers of fading arrays, which were not Alchemy Arrays, nor even Magic Guided Arrays, but certainly were not naturally formed.
