Pillar of Yita

He was thinking about these absurd things when the big Catfolk beside him let out a light ”hmm” and quickly walked forward, leaving him behind.

Fang Hong was slightly surprised, catching up to see the Lion Paladin standing in front of a stall, his eyes fixed on an ancient bronze shield.

”What is this now,” he said a bit annoyed, ”another Magic Guided Conductor from the Xinsas Era?”

”It’s not impossible, Ade,” the big Catfolk rubbed his chin, squinting his silver ash eyes, ”Why don’t you go negotiate with the shopkeeper and ask where this shield came from?”

”But there were no Magic Guided Conductors in the Xinsas Era.”

”That’s what they say, but you haven’t confirmed it, how would you know, Ade?”

Does that really need confirmation? The recent Magic Guided Conductors were born after the invention of Alchemy, by which time the Xinsas Serpentfolk had long become history.

But Fang Hong was slightly perplexed and suddenly sensed a deeper meaning in the big Catfolk’s words, turning to see a meaningful gaze directed at him.

He hesitated for a moment before stepping forward, using hand gestures to negotiate with the Lizardman, asking if he could look at the shield.

His Learning Ability was strong; in just a few days, he had almost mastered the sign language used between the Lizardman and the Invoker.

To ask for the price, use fingers with a fist; to inspect the goods, palm up, then point to the item you want to see.

Before receiving the owner’s permission, moving the goods here could lead to disputes.

The Lizardman’s face with colorful patterns and vertical pupils glanced at him, nodding coldly to indicate permission.

Fang Hong picked up the shield, thinking it was just an ordinary shield. But just as he was about to turn the shield over, he suddenly froze.

It was a sword.

His attention had been entirely captured by the shield, unaware there was a sword underneath it.

Of course, it was also because the sword looked too ordinary, its blade rusted, looking like some scrap metal fished out from a swamp. The only well-preserved part was probably the handguard, which was pitch black.

Fang Hong’s heart stirred as he wiped the sword’s hilt, revealing a complex pattern like a blooming Wild Rose.

He recognized this heraldry, known as the Brielle Emblem. Of course, there was no such ancient surname in the human world; the name actually represented a Fairy Clan.

Thus, the identity of this sword was unmistakable, unless it was an elaborate hoax.

Foe Slayer, or also known as the Enemy of the Giant Dragon.

This was a Holy Sword.

His heart pounded because at that moment, both Tata and Nini reacted.

Nini had a natural aversion to the Dragon Slaying Holy Sword’s aura, while Miss Tata recognized the craftsmanship unique to the Eye Door.

Suppressing the shock in his heart, he sought confirmation again from Miss Fairy, ”Miss Tata, did you see it?”

Tata nodded, ”Perhaps it’s it, I find it somewhat familiar.”

Although unclear why it was here, after receiving a positive response, Fang Hong looked up and asked the Lizardman directly: ”Is this sword together with this shield?”

The Lizardman nodded.

”They’re good stuff found in ruins, human.”

It said with a hissing voice.

Fang Hong pressed down the surprise, ”So, they’re also Magic Guided Conductors from the Xinsas Era?”

The Lizardman looked at him as if he were a fool, ”There were no Magic Guided Conductors in the Xinsas Era, these are ancient relics, but they’re equally valuable.”

Though being mockingly dismissed, Fang Hong instead felt more certain that the other party was unaware of the sword’s true origins.

”But their condition is poor,” he intentionally noted.

”Only the sword isn’t well-preserved, but the shield is very intact, human.”

Seeing the other party seemed intent on selling the shield separately, Fang Hong hurriedly said: ”But they’re a set, no one would hang just a shield on the wall. Maybe a museum would want this sort of thing, but they wouldn’t offer a high price for it.”

The Lizardman grew a bit impatient, hissing a gesture, ”Name your price, human.”

Fang Hong raised a fist, hesitated, then extended a finger downward.

”Ten thousand Lysel,” he thought, no more than that.

Even though any amount could not describe the value of a Holy Sword. But too much might arouse suspicion in the counterpart.

But before he could pull his hand back, the Lizardman grasped his hand.

A chill came from the Lizardman’s dry skin, yet instead of a gesture of agreement, the Lizardman flatly said:

”Deal.”

Fang Hong was taken aback, only then realizing that the Nogness Lizardman could speak Colin language so articulately.

However, he still felt something was not quite right.

...

In fact, that very evening, the news about a fool buying the Holy Sword from Gnaisenwa spread quickly.

Gnaisenwa was the name of that Lizardman.

People from the lakeside tavern almost queued to visit him.

Though everyone held back their laughs, there was a tone of meaning in their words about young people learning from mistakes.

Lady Esali, amused and bemused, said to him, ”Ade, half of Patchiwa knows the ’story’ about that Holy Sword, why didn’t you ask us before buying? Ten thousand Lysel, you could have bought me, and I’d work for you for a month.”

But compared to these people, Fang Hong naturally trusted Miss Tata, ”What if that sword is real?”

”Fool, if it were real, would it have been your turn?” Esali looked at him with a sympathetic gaze, sighing, ”Gnaisenwa is just a middleman, it never went to the rainforest, nor has it ever seen Xinsas ruins. The sword is something it bought from the Descendants of Flor three years ago, do you think the Descendants of Flor would make a mistake?”

Fang Hong was similarly caught between amusement and disbelief, realizing this item was from the Descendants of Flor, making it their unlucky misfortune, which was unexpectedly good news.

However, he looked at Lady Esali, opened his mouth, but ultimately couldn’t claim the sword was indeed the Holy Sword.

They already had enough trouble.

”Lady Esali,” Fang Hong replied somewhat helplessly, ”just consider me unlucky then...”

”Ah, Ade, you have to be smarter next time outside.”

”Actually, you’re not really unlucky, just... a bit too trusting.”

With a chuckle, Tianlan laughed out loud beside them.

Miss Ship’s Officer also slightly pursed her lips.

Fang Hong roughly understood; this was a euphemistic way of calling someone a fool.

But was he truly foolish?

He was just too frustrated to respond.

Fang Hong never expected that these once kind and simple Lizardmen had become so treacherous now.
