Pillar of Yita

Now many people know the Morning Dawn Star, Fang Hong thought to himself.

After the Elf Ruins incident, due to the rumors about the Sea Witch and the Hailin Crown, the name Morning Dawn Star had already spread widely some time ago. Although more than a year has passed since then, many people still remember the Long Summer War and this name.

Of course, there is more or less his reason as well. After the Fanric’s mermaid battle, the Dragon’s Alchemist became quite popular on the community. People turned back to search for his origin, thus revisiting the story of the Long Summer War, once again granting the Morning Dawn Star enough attention.

After these two incidents, at least in the China Competition Region, people remembered this name. But whether today’s Morning Dawn Star is the same as it once was, no one knows.

However, Fang Hong despises the overly dramatic name ”Dragon’s Alchemist” and refuses to admit this as a reason.

”According to documented records, the Morning Dawn Star has a total of thirty-two official members, along with a varying number of temporary members. This size, in the Free Adventure Group, belongs to the very small category, though there are even smaller Legendary Adventure Groups, with five or seven members. But Morning Dawn Star is not legendary; before that incident, they were quite unknown.”

”The captain of this adventure group is a Chinese, whose official identity is unclear, with the ID name ’Star.’ It’s speculated that this is where the group’s name came from. Additionally, there are eight to twelve core members: Owl, Snail, Raptor, Age, Pharmacist, Great Shield, and Traveller. The names and IDs of the others are unknown, and two-thirds of the non-core members are Life Profession Practitioners. Among them, a scholar named ’Traveller’ played a significant role in this event.”

The middle-aged man spoke leisurely. Fang Hong had heard tales of the past Morning Dawn Star before, and even looked them up himself on the community, but none knew as much as this person in front of him.

Although he couldn’t tell if the other was intentionally misleading him, he listened closely, knowing that in an elaborate deception, truth often exceeds falsehood. Even if the other didn’t speak entirely truthfully, there was certainly valuable information within these words.

The two walked through the courtyard as Istania’s cloudy shadows danced on the wild grapevine trellis.

Sunlight fell brightly on the slates, dazzlingly glaring.

”The event’s beginning was widely shared on the community; an adventure group fortuitously discovered an island suddenly appearing in the Sky Sea—due to various reasons, such islands are abundant in the sky and sea, some appearing today and disappearing tomorrow, while others remain permanently and become part of Eteliria’s sky land. But the one they discovered significantly altered the world’s structure, because of the Divine Corpse—”

”Because they—or there is another theory that suggests someone else—discovered the Divine Corpse of the long-deceased Lizardman God on the island. At that time, rumors proposed that the Divine Corpse might be related to a secret of immortal life, sparking a fierce contest between the Osh and Colin Ishurian, eventually leading to the Battle of Bain.”

”Today, people can’t clearly explain how the Battle of Bain occurred. Some say a group of adventurers attacked the Osh Empire’s envoy group, while others claim the true reason was the Empire’s coveting of the Divine Corpse. But these things are now deemed unimportant; the Divine Corpse has been lost, stolen by the Lizardmen, and secretly transported back to Fenris Isle.”

”As for the Colin People and the Osh, after a great war, gained nothing.”

”But this isn’t the focus of our story.”

The middle-aged man stopped briefly in front of the last corridor, the sunlight passing through palm leaves, casting slender shadows on him.

He turned to look at Fang Hong, his face’s features obscured in shadow due to the sunlight, appearing somewhat mysterious. ”If you still remember, what I’m about to tell you is the origin of that notebook.”

Fang Hong nodded.

But he thought to himself—it’s about the secret of immortal life yet again, just as it was in Fenris. Even the ’Wanderer’ mentioned this before, and the Dragon Worshippers seemed convinced of it, leading him to inevitably associate it with a possible hidden hand behind all this, orchestrating these events?

Is it the ’Wanderer’ himself?

Or one of the Dark Saints behind him.

The middle-aged man noticed Fang Hong was pondering in silence but didn’t probe into what he was thinking, continuing:

”The notebook’s origin was something else the Morning Dawn Star discovered on the island. While most people know the story of the Divine Corpse, few know about this. It was the Abyssal Sea Slates; they found numerous Abyssal Sea Stone Inscriptions on the island, seemingly left by either the Numelin or Xinsas Serpentfolk, though this cannot be verified.”

”Typically, these stone inscriptions have been found in ruins across various locations, appearing here wasn’t particularly surprising. But the coincidence was that there was a scholar within the group with high scholarly level, who studied at the Silver Tower, specializing in Ancient Manuscripts. Thus, he recognized the contents of the inscriptions and deciphered them—”
