Pillar of Yita

If the information from the Combat Artisan had any errors, their chance would have arrived. Lonely White Field gently caressed his dual-handed great sword and continued:

”Group one, you’re in charge of luring the enemy.”

”How should we do it, Captain?”

”Just scatter and escape, plan your own routes, and try to mislead an attack team from Anlan to expose their rear.”

”Understood.”

Kaka quietly watched as the lone wolf left his field of vision.

From that last glance, he had already understood that the other party had guessed his presence.

But he indifferently adjusted the vision of Clockwork Fairy, watching as the members of Rain Listener scattered into the forest and fled north.

”They have dispersed.”

”Special target out of vision range, last seen heading in direction 172, to the north.”

”They’ve discovered Clockwork Fairy,” Xia Sheng, listening to the rustling sound on the communication channel, couldn’t help but furrow her brow and turned back, ”What do we do next, Captain?”

”It’s not ’they,’ it’s ’he,’” the Captain answered quietly.

Xia Sheng was stunned for a moment before she understood the meaning of these words.

The individual strength of Rain Listener was actually far inferior to that of their Anlan, but in several simulated combats, their results were actually lower.

It was all because of the opponent’s Commander.

The man known as Lonely White Field.

She couldn’t help but look towards her own Captain.

The latter’s face seemed to show no emotion; although he didn’t want to admit it, the fact was that he was not as qualified for the position as the other.

”Captain...”

”It’s okay, I understand,” the Captain shook his head.

He was actually thinking further ahead.

The person who had joined Rain Listener was once a lone wolf. If he could join Rain Listener, then it’s not unlikely for him to join Blood Oath Alliance.

If the other party was willing to do so, he would even prefer to give up his position as Captain.

What Anlan meant for the future of Blood Oath Alliance was crystal clear to him. Perhaps one day to become a first-tier guild like the Jiefulite Red Cloak Team, they would need to rely on the strength of these young people.

And thinking of this, he couldn’t help but look back.

The young people of Jiefulite astounded him; the strength of a well-established guild always manifested so effortlessly.

And what about those top guilds in the Second World?

Could Blood Oath Alliance one day become an existence like that?

But no matter what, if Anlan wanted to advance further, perhaps changing to a more outstanding Commander was the only choice.

He raised his head and silently made a decision: ”Wait.”

”Wait?”

Xia Sheng was greatly surprised.

The other side had obviously already discovered the existence of Clockwork Fairy. Once they scattered, they would soon escape their control. Shouldn’t they take advantage of the current situation and start a total offensive?

Of course, it could lead to some losses, but it would be worth it.

Thinking this, she couldn’t help becoming a bit anxious: ”Captain—”

”Asheng, keep calm,” the Captain turned to look at her and calmly replied: ”Wait for Mr. Kaka’s arrangements.”

”Him?” Xia Sheng was somewhat dissatisfied: ”Speaking of which, why didn’t that guy continue tracking? Even discerning the enemy’s direction would be good!”

”Mr. Kaka’s judgment is correct. I think that man is misleading us again,” the Captain answered.

Xia Sheng was momentarily stunned: ”But how can that be, we’re the ones ambushing them now, aren’t we?”

”Have you forgotten our simulated combat with them a year ago?” the Captain shook his head: ”That man used to be a teammate of KUN, did you know that?”

”What!?” The girl’s eyes widened.

The Captain sighed: ”I’ve just learned of it too.”

”KUN, during his early days in the VEM guild as an exchange student, had formed an adventurer squad, and Lonely White Field was part of it. However, the squad didn’t last long after the two guilds fell out with each other, and after VEM’s decline, Lonely White Field remained in Eteliria as a Free Adventurer.”

”Of course, not many may know these stories from the early years. But could someone chosen as a teammate by KUN be an ordinary person?”

Xia Sheng’s mouth fell open in a slight gasp. If being a member of Jiefulite Red Cloak Team’s Elite Corps was something she admired, then someone like KUN was practically a legendary figure.

Those star Invokers at the top of the Second World were far too distant for them, so far that they were unreachable.

But now, Xia Sheng felt as though she was caught between legend and reality.

”But Captain—”

”Rain Listener is done for, but I want to give him a chance to choose,” the Captain interrupted her, softly saying: ”If possible, I’d like for him to become your Captain.”

”Captain, you—” Xia Sheng looked at him in surprise.

The latter smiled: ”There’s no need to be so shocked; I’m far from his equal. It’s nothing I’m ashamed to admit. I’d also like to see how Anlan will change under his leadership.”

The girl couldn’t help but nervously bite her lip.

”But can we really catch him?”

”In a head-on fight, it would be difficult,” the Captain shook his head: ”Although I am optimistic about your potential, the current gap between you and those veterans of Rain Listener is marginal, and with him there, I can’t defeat him.”

Xia Sheng then shut her mouth—after all, that was once KUN’s teammate.
