Pillar of Yita

Fang Hong thought carefully before realizing what the other’s profession was, ”Are you a Supreme One?”

Supreme Ones are what people call those alchemists who choose the Supreme Choice School among combat artisans, besides that, there are Dominato (Construct Lord School), Sword Bearer (Immortal Knight School), and Controllers.

But the other party answered neither yes nor no, just looked at him dubiously, ”No wonder you couldn’t do dual control back then. Turns out you’re not a combat artisan, but a dedicated alchemist.”

”What a pity,” he shook his head, ”You control the Clockwork Fairy quite well, you have seventy percent of my level. If you had multi-control talent, you could also find a place in a first-tier guild.”

Hearing this, Fang Hong couldn’t help but roll his eyes. The other guy’s vanity was also astonishing, no wonder he insisted on using the Clockwork Fairy to compete with him back then.

Good heavens, if it weren’t for the problem with his control gloves, he could have wiped the floor with this guy back then. Fang Hong completely forgot his own foolish appearance at the time and unhesitatingly blamed the control gloves.

However, it amused him that the other party thought he was a dedicated alchemist. He was also happy to feign ignorance, as being a combat artisan was too conspicuous.

It did not match his current need to keep a low profile.

Meanwhile, that apprentice alchemist boy was frantically making signals to the other, looking extremely anxious, ”Baihua, Mr. Ade he—”

”What about him? Do you have some issue with your eyes, blinking non-stop?” the latter asked bluntly while looking at him.

The apprentice alchemist boy rolled his eyes, almost fainting.

He had been trying to privately tell the other what he had seen before but didn’t expect to be shut down by a mere sentence before he could speak.

Fang Hong was also stunned for a moment before realizing that this young man’s name was Baihua—or should I say his ID.

This did not sound like a foreigner’s name, nor did it fit the naming style of the Wilderness People. So, this boy was a Chosen?

He paused, then subconsciously sniffed—the unique Youxiang was very distinct in the cramped room. It was the scent of Dragon Bloodwood after being roasted, identical to Miss Miya’s.

Subconsciously, he looked towards the boy’s wrist, where indeed on his fair wrist, he wore a string of red wooden beads. Noticing his gaze, the boy frowned disdainfully and covered his wrist with his other hand.

”Are you from the Rain Listener Guild?”

”What if I am?”

”I heard you took the Ring of Golden Flame?” Fang Hong naturally heard this news from Mazak, though he now knew the ring was a fake.

He still had to ask this question because he knew the ring eventually ended up in the hands of a Dragon Worshipper. After the battle at Dolifen, he became wary of this matter.

He needed to figure out if the Rain Listeners were colluding with the Dragonfire Guild like the Dragon Worshippers. If so, he would have to reconsider whether the agreement with them was still worth fulfilling.

Upon his question, Baihua looked at him warily, ”What’s that to you?”

Fang Hong fiddled with his chainsword, ”This is your weapon, right? Although I promised you guys, it doesn’t mean I can definitely repair these things. Take your sword, for example—it seems quite hopeless. By the way, how exactly did you use it?”

But Baihua caught the implication and looked at him slightly taken aback, ”Are you saying you can fix this sword?”

Having brought the chainsword himself, he knew all too well what condition it was in. He had not harbored much hope of getting it back, instead, he was curious if the other could create a similar substitute.

Fang Hong scanned the chainsword with a Flaw Detection Lens. He had actually examined this sword before, so he was clear on the main issues. The BX0700W model chainsword was a fine sword, a mass-produced piece from the Imperial Workshop. Nevertheless, this batch of chainswords was supervised by the then-Great Alchemist Pinod of the Empire, making them rare masterpieces, which is why they could fetch a high price of forty to fifty thousand Lycels in the market.

This model from this batch was very popular among the previous generation of Chosen, but they’re actually hard to come by on the market now, and it’s unclear how the other managed to acquire one. But obviously, the other must have valued it quite a lot.

Nonetheless, such a barbaric way of using a sword was something Fang Hong had only seen once before in his life. If the issue weren’t so sensitive, he would have really liked to ask whether the other knew a remarkable woman named Miya or if all the People of Rotao fought in such an unrestrained manner.

The main issue with the chainsword was metal fatigue and hidden damage to the blade. Theoretically, repairs could only start from the structural points. But the complexity of the chainsword’s structure meant most people would find it difficult to undertake repairs from a material standpoint.

Not to mention a regular person, even he would find it difficult to accomplish this task through the Summoners System; after all, he had previously assessed it with the system and concluded that it was impossible to unfold the structural diagram.

The other party must have also tried this method. All he needed to do was look at the expressions on the faces of the Apprentice Alchemist and Baihua to understand that they were out of options on this path.

Yes, without the Summoners System, a Summoner is nothing in this world.

But he was different.

When he was at Morning Dawn Star, where was there a Summoners System? Yet, he still managed to support the entire group’s maintenance work single-handedly; even if there were things he couldn’t fix, he would find another way to at least restore some of their functions.

On one hand, the theories from the Kapuka School itself emphasize the basics.

Fang Hong looked at Baihua with pride and didn’t say much else. He simply took out a full set of tools from the craftsman’s bench, spread out the metallographic tools and the Magic Furnace, and placed the Chainsword on it.

Then, flipping down his monocular lens and wind goggles, he began the repair work.

He tried a bit and discovered that he hadn’t lost the knowledge he had grasped in the past; on the contrary, due to his increased level and richer experience, his craftsmanship had even improved a step further.

It didn’t take much time for him to repair the first Chain Blade.

The Apprentice Alchemist boy watched, his eyes widening in amazement, unable to help but blurt out, ”Practical skills, do people still learn that nowadays?”

Baihua watched the scene coldly, he was, of course, well aware of what Fang Hong was doing right now.

Indeed, Fang Hong suddenly set down his Forging Hammer, pulled up his wind goggles, turned to him, and spread his hands: ”Ah, my abilities only go as far as this. Although I learned the following steps at the Kapuka School, I’ve forgotten momentarily how to proceed.”

Gita couldn’t help but let out a snort of laughter at this scene.

Fang Hong glared at the young girl irritably, thinking to herself to keep it serious; she was in the midst of something important.

The youth from Rotao bit his lip subconsciously, his long pointed ears trembling slightly before he said in a deep voice, ”What exactly do you want to know?”

”Where has the Ring of Golden Flame gone?”

Baihua’s face was very unsightly, ”So your target is that ring too. Unfortunately, I’ve already handed it over to someone else.”

”Someone else?” Fang Hong frowned and asked, ”Who?”

”I don’t know,” the young man shook his head, ”Someone instructed me to go to that place to get the ring, and then to hand it over to those people. I’ve never even seen them; I just placed the item at a designated spot.”

Fang Hong looked at him skeptically: ”Who gave the order? Was it the higher-ups in your Guild?”

”No.”

”Then who was it?”

”I can’t tell you. If you need that answer to continue repairing the sword, then never mind,” the young man said while reaching out to take back his own sword.

But Fang Hong pressed down on his hand, shaking his head: ”No need, this is enough.”

Repairing the Magic Guided Conductor was part of the agreement between Miss Atira and the Rain Listener Guild; he really only needed to know there was no connection between the Rain Listener Guild and the Dragon Worship Sect.

As for whether this guy was related to the Dragon Worshippers, he didn’t really care.

After all, he had no intention of getting involved with this youth.
