Pillar of Yita

The Lonely White Field swung his blade in a backhand stroke, and the sharp sword split the light as it passed through the forest, reflecting a figure intersecting with it.

The swords clashed, once, and then again, the third strike came with a high-frequency tremor. A longsword spiraled up into the air, spinning as it fell into the nearby bushes.

The empty-handed Blood Oath Swordsman retreated a step in surprise.

Then, a cold, chilling gleam of a sword reflected in his eyes, he bowed his head, watching as the sharp blade pierced his chest, a glaring crimson bloom.

Momentarily.

The Lonely White Field gently pushed the gradually cooling body, and it fell into the bushes, transforming into scattered points of light.

The faint light seemed somewhat conspicuous in the darkness.

The Lonely White Field knew this might expose his position, he picked up a piece of fallen equipment and immediately turned and sprinted in another direction.

But in the darkness, a Clockwork Fairy was silently watching him.

The dim lens in the center of the Construct shifted slightly amidst a deep buzzing sound.

At the other end of the lens, Kaka raised his head, pulled out a stack of photographs to browse for a moment, and then plucked one from the stack.

Suddenly, his voice, scratchy and filled with static, spread through the channel:

”Confirm target, Captain of the Storm Brigade, the Lonely White Field. Coordinates: northeast, A23, 16, 2, moving southward.”

Xia Sheng pressed the communication crystal and said, ”Repeat that, confirm target, Captain of the Storm Brigade, the Lonely White Field. Coordinates: northeast, A23, 16, 2, moving southward.”

After she spoke, she turned off the communicator and entered a silent mode.

Then there were only the voices of others left in the channel.

”Confirm three targets, Firefly, right in front of you.”

”Split into two flanks, we have an absolute advantage, surround them, and end the battle as quickly as possible—”

”Wait, that guy spotted me!”

”It’s the Lonely White Field, he’s coming over.”

The voice suddenly ceased.

In Kaka’s vision, he saw the Captain of the Rain Listening Brigade stop by a corpse, squinting towards the treetop.

He paused for a moment, unintentionally scratching his messy hair.

In the sight of the Clockwork Fairy, that cold gaze seemed to be staring straight back, had he been discovered?

But that seemed unlikely. It looked like the people of Anlan were too obvious with their movements, and the enemy had guessed it.

But was it meaningful?

Suddenly, Kaka stood up.

In the surprised gaze of the Anlan communicator, he gently unbuttoned his cloak one by one.

Then he pressed something on his belt.

With a click, three Clockwork Fairies broke free from the Construct belt, their wings flapping as they circled around him and flew up.

They circled everyone once, then the youth pointed forward, and three deep lights shot towards the distant horizon under his direction.

”Four, four controls...?” the communicator gaped.

Kaka did not speak, stepping forward onto bare rock, then letting go of his hand.

The night wind tousled his hair as his cloak, spinning, flew off into the valley below.

”Are you crazy?” shouted Six Shadows as he saw it.

Kaka, while pulling down his wind goggles, turned, and smiled, ”Remember to ask the chairman to give me a little bonus, Six Shadows.”

”You—,” the girl opened her mouth wide, staring at this lunatic, unable to speak for a moment.

In the forest—

The Lonely White Field withdrew his gaze from above the trees, while the channel echoed with the anxious voices of his team members:

”There are enemies in my direction, Calan is injured.”

”Star, Star, can you hear me?”

”Captain, it’s the people of Anlan, they are at coordinates A63, 14, 5—”

”Captain, should we continue to retreat?”

The Lonely White Field grasped the communication crystal, then spoke softly.

His deep voice seemed to naturally possess a calming power, ”Retreating is pointless, old rivals understand us well.”

”Then what do we do, Captain, they are encircling us, it seems they know our location.”

”Keep calm.” The Lonely White Field looked up, unlike Elisa, he had guessed the observer’s location from the start.

Combat Artisan, he couldn’t help but think back to encounters long past; he had clashed with those guys before too.

Few knew that before joining Rain Listener, this Captain of the Storm Brigade had spent a lengthy period as a lone wolf. And if it weren’t for his exceptional skill, why would the guild have accepted such a Free Adventurer?

Let alone allow him to lead a core brigade.

He silently watched the darkness in that direction, then asked, ”How well has the surrounding topography been mapped?”

”Can’t reach Elisa and the others, but fortunately, Captain, you had the Rangers as backup, we do have the nearby topographical maps, though we’re lacking data from the mouth of the valley.”

”That’s enough, transmit it over.”

The progress bar of the Summoner’s System appeared in his vision.

As soon as the progress bar completed, the Lonely White Field swiped his hand, pulling up a virtual topographic map in front of him.

He quickly marked five or six positions on it, then transmitted the locations to each team member, calmly stating, ”Spread out, we are preparing a counterattack.”

Two.

From his previous probes, the Combat Artisan probably wouldn’t have more than two observation points—

And the people of Anlan relied too heavily on the Combat Artisan, not attempting any reconnaissance on their own, which seemed indeed to be an advantage, at least allowing them to completely conceal themselves.

But it was equivalent to completely handing over the perception of the battlefield to the Combat Artisan.
