Pillar of Yita

Fang Hong couldn’t help but laugh, ”Your analogy isn’t quite appropriate. People are not animals.”

”But people do have animalistic tendencies.”

”Alright, you’re right.” Fang Hong nodded, feeling much relieved.

”Actually, I feel that Miss Hilveld is deeply involved in this matter. She and Princess Briana are of the same kind. They are not easily perplexed by difficulties, but a frown can reveal a lot of information.”

”Do you know, Miss Tata,” Fang Hong looked out at the Cloud Sea, ”I have a premonition that we might encounter many things on this journey.”

”Your premonitions are often accurate, Mr. Knight.”

”Do you feel that way too?”

Miss Fairy nodded lightly.

Fang Hong suddenly got up from the net bed, found the wind lantern in the dim light, turned on the switch, and lit the flame. A golden light shone from beneath the latticework glass, casting a glow on Tata’s delicate face.

The room bathed in a warm orange glow.

Not far from the bed, Fang Hong’s Emerald Bird Type AE Magic Guided Reactor was placed, its exterior reflecting a golden glow. Its shell was opened, and the main crystal had been removed and soaked in a can of light blue liquid.

The magic power stretched from the eyes of the Silver Blaze Forest, covering the crystal like a neural network.

The Silver Blaze Forest is a very peculiar creature. It resembles a silver cedar, its surface covered with mercury orb-like eyes, but when it runs, it somewhat resembles a pegasus wrapped in silver flames, speeding like lightning—there is little in this world that can keep up with it.

It is extremely sensitive to magic power; each eye is an individual magic sensor. Its mesh-like magic structure is extremely peculiar yet perfectly allows the crystal to have the ability to perceive ether.

Fang Hong looked at that setup and suddenly had a spark of inspiration.

Before that, he had already experienced many failures in this small device—the magic sensitivity structure.

Although failure was necessary, and he never expected to succeed on this long road of exploration at his first attempt, at that moment, he suddenly felt a thrill, as if his mind had awakened, a stroke of genius illuminating the darkness ahead.

It was an idea he had never thought of before.

He pulled out a slice soaked in magic solution, well-cut—these slices were already few in number. If he couldn’t find the right direction in a few experiments, he might have to look for another Silver Blaze Forest eye.

Although after one adventure, the team’s funds no longer seemed so tight.

But the lost time could not be reclaimed.

The Mesh Ether Theory holds that every point on a magic network can sense the flow of magic—either increasing or decreasing—because any point on the network tends to gravitate towards the center of magic richness.

Fang Hong realized that this theory coincidentally matched the magic network of the Silver Blaze Forest.

His idea was not to use the traditional method of a core crystal, which dictates the direction of magic flow by the orientation of the main crystal’s plugs. Instead, he planned to create something like a gyroscope, using the direction of magic flow to determine the output direction of the main crystal.

As long as the resonance crystal remains at the point of magic richness, ensuring it is at a low point within the magic network, it could guarantee the effectiveness of magic flow.

This even had an advantage: the controller need not struggle to maintain the direction of magic flow, because in the mesh theory, magic would automatically flow towards the low point.

Although there might still be many problems, it no doubt had opened a new door for Fang Hong.

He only tried three times. The first time, he accidentally broke the crystal slice. The second time, there was a slight error in the configuration of the magic solution.

But the third time.

He achieved the success he had long hoped for.

At that moment, it darkened outside the window, turning pitch black as if from early morning it had suddenly returned to midnight. Only the heat inside meeting the cold of the glass formed a layer of faint frost.

Fang Hong stared at the frost for a while.

Then he took a deep breath.

He looked at the small spherical object in his hand, the fruit of his continuous labor over several nights. It looked a bit rough, but it already symbolized a future unknown.

This tiny thing could be said to be the best magic sensor of the era. It could effectively detect and divert magic power, helping accelerators filter elements within magic power.

This was the first step towards a Non-Attribute Crystal.

The prototype of a Type-One Crystal.

But it had already been the most difficult hurdle to overcome, and it proved that Hain Famm’s idea was correct, at least up to this point without any mistakes.

Fang Hong held that thing, feeling a flicker of excitement in his heart.

He knew the other materials were already prepared; Baphitos’s accelerator was one of the most mature of this era, and the Magic Power circulation device also didn’t require his attention.

Once he crossed that line, the next-generation product of the Type-One Crystal was within reach.

He took out a box, carefully placing the metal sphere inside, wrapping it with cotton stuffing and velvet cloth.

The final configuration of the Type-One Crystal required an extremely stable environment, which was definitely not possible on the ship, but Princess Briana had mentioned that a storm was coming, so he might have quite a long time to carry out his final step of experimentation at an anchor point in the northern part of Fenris Isle.

He closed the box, fastened the metal clasp, turned around, and exchanged a look with Miss Fairy for a moment.

The two of them were silent for a moment.

It was quite a while before Miss Fairy finally spoke:

”Congratulations, Mr. Knight, you succeeded.”

”That was just the first step.”

”The first step is the most important one.”

Fang Hong did not deny this point and just nodded slightly. He placed his hand on the wooden box, feeling the cool touch responding in his palm, that feeling alone gave him a sense of reality.

As if no matter how many difficulties he faced next, he could not be brought to fear.

Because he had already taken that most solid first step, the shackles of a stowaway on him seemingly broke with a crushingly powerful crack, crumbling away.

He knew it.

From now on, no one could limit his stride.

Fang Hong set the box properly and then silently picked up a book. Under his gaze, the book’s endpaper was covered in thick leather, bordered with gold.

The Colin people had written in ancient text the most well-known name on it—”Intermediate Flexible Construct Theory.”

This was the first step of a Combat Artisan on becoming a Pseudo Dragon Knight.

Once reaching level ten, this profession truly began to tread on its own stage, possessing astonishing combat power. Although Fang Hong had previously managed to handle various troubles through all sorts of flashy tactics and unexpected combat,

It was at this moment, the gates to this world of craftsmen truly opened for him, and after that, it would be the world shared with Wu Di, Red Leaf, and Liuli Yue.

He was no longer that frail and tiny Apprentice Alchemist.

That door was close at hand.

After the adventure in Dolifen, both his combat experience and knowledge experience had reached an astonishing level, Fang Hong had estimated more than once. If he used it all, it would be enough to advance him to half of level eight,

Which is almost three full levels.

Only a level and a half away from level ten. After that, the Alchemists would replace the Magic Guided Reactor’s Core Crystal, and the β Crystal would be sufficient to support the Magic Guided Reactor in maintaining the Flexible Constructs while using Skill Plugins and auxiliary interfaces.

Not to mention the higher Magic Power Output, allowing the Combat Artisan to begin using higher level constructs like Shield Bearer, Fearless One, Annihilator; the combination of such powers meant not just a simple upgrade.

And some tactics he had in mind could finally be laid out on the table—being a young man who saw coming to this world as a dream, Fang Hong had long planned what path he wanted to take as a Combat Artisan.

Thus, the experiences he now held had already decided where they should be directed.

Fang Hong gently placed the book on the table.

He lifted his head.

Thin frost was melting on the bed, and outside the porthole, a red sun was rising from the Cloud Sea.

On the wooden table, the light from a candle flickered a few times before extinguishing as the last strand of the wick burned out, leaving only the melted wax.

In the morning light, it solidified into a peculiar shape.
