Pillar of Yita

He saw people running in the darkness, seemingly shouting and screaming something, their voices like evanescent phantoms, yet gradually becoming clearer:

”Kill her, kill this monster!”

”That is the Calamity, we must stay away from the Calamity!”

Then the dust took the shape of an old man.

Dressed in a robe, his forehead covered with ugly black spots, he squinted at him.

”But it could also be a hope—”

Then the figure of smoke changed once again.

This time, there were too many people and events for Fang Hong to take in, he couldn’t see clearly at all. In the end, he only saw a slender shadow standing there with her back to him, calmly asking him:

”Do you still remember our covenant—?”

Fang Hong was slightly startled.

She turned around, removed something from her hand, and threw it in front of him, ”I understood this long ago—go away, from now on I will never trust anyone again.”

That thing fell at Fang Hong’s feet.

Fang Hong looked down, but there was nothing. Only the ring on his hand was burning hot, the girl’s shadow moved away into the darkness, and Fang Hong suddenly looked up and asked loudly:

”What covenant?”

The shadow paused.

She turned around, and her face was shrouded, completely obscured.

She stared at him fixedly, then shook her head and chuckled coldly, ”That’s the most ridiculous answer I’ve ever heard, but at least you’re not shouting to kill like they are, or have people now forgotten everything?”

She shook her head again.

”But never mind, I don’t care anymore.”

”Consider yourself lucky.”

With that, the shadow turned and walked deeper into the smoke, disappearing from sight.

Fang Hong had not understood what exactly had happened, but suddenly, he felt that there was something more in his mind. It was like a memory, but not quite.

He quietly held the ring, in the surrounding darkness, and then realized that something was not quite right around him.

The chaotic Phantom Realm had vanished—

All around was only a silent darkness, in which he could feel neither the position of the four cardinal directions nor the existence of time and space.

Everything seemed to be in chaos.

But gradually, he heard a somewhat fuzzy voice:

”Can you truly do it?”

The voice was a bit gruff, a tone Fang Hong had never heard before. Accompanying this voice, the fog in front of him suddenly dispersed.

There was a point of golden light.

Golden light was continuously radiating from a ring, which looked like molten lava, held in the sturdy palm of a Dwarf.

The latter stared fixedly at the ring, murmuring to himself.

”But how could I do that?”

”No no no, perhaps Yoshude will understand...”

”Ah, you seductive evil thing—”

The Dwarf muttered to himself, and another voice seemed to come from outside the room: ”Haggston, what are you dawdling for, we’re setting off.”

”Ah, my lord, I’m coming.”

The Dwarf looked back, hesitated while looking at the ring in his hand, then carefully put it away.

Then the view darkened.

When it brightened again, Fang Hong saw a tall figure from behind—he almost thought he saw Mazak, but it clearly was not, this man had beautiful platinum blonde short hair, quite different from the former.

He stood under a tree, with a sword in hand, silently watching a convoy move further away in the distance.

”He won’t come back, Yoshude,” said a voice.

Then Fang Hong realized that it was himself who had spoken.

The man turned around, glanced at him—Fang Hong couldn’t remember the man’s face, only a pair of golden eyes, striking and unforgettable.

”Let him go—”

Fang Hong wished he could cover his mouth, but it was still speaking, ”So in the end, you still couldn’t make up your mind.”

”I don’t know, but I always feel that we shouldn’t do this.”

”You will regret it.”

”Perhaps.”

The man walked past Fang Hong, disappearing from his view.

The surroundings returned to darkness again.

When it lit up once more, Fang Hong finally found himself in a familiar place, a place he had been to several times during this long night.

It was Hustings Academy, the principal’s office—

But the scene here was somewhat different from what he had seen before.
