Pillar of Yita

”Oh? What’s the content?”

Misu’s tone was somewhat incredulous, ”A life contract...”

Upon hearing this, Fang Hong’s heart suddenly skipped a beat.

He stepped forward, but the phantom, as if sensing his emotions, disappeared into thin smoke in an instant.

Ahead, amidst the dark fog, faint firelight emerged, and the uneven slate street appeared underfoot, a scene all too familiar to Fang Hong.

He hesitated for a moment before resolutely walking forward.

Parting the mist, ahead was Grey Oak Square.

On the square, on one side were Misu and Manlo Huolite along with a host of Dragon Worshippers, amidst a sea of fire. The square was littered with corpses, blood flowing like rivers.

In the center, the Dragon Worship Servants formed a massive concentric circle, chanting obscure spells in unison, pushing the summoning ritual to its final phase.

Within that blood-red array, a massive skeleton was slowly taking shape amid the black smoke.

This battle was no different from the scene Fang Hong had witnessed before.

Misu and Mr. Diket were being pushed back under the dual assault of Dragon Worshippers and Morning Knights. The chanting of the servants grew louder and louder, echoing over the square like a curse.

But this time—

neither he nor Luen appeared—

There was a moment, under the fierce protection of Misu, when the older knight found the perfect opportunity to break into the inner circle,

He slashed a Dragon Worship Servant in two with his sword, but could move no further.

A heavy wall of bodies kept him outside the array.

Mr. Diket, drenched in blood and with a face full of despair, let out a long cry as a knight trapped in the encirclement, ”Lady Marlan, where is your valiant light!?”

With all his might, he threw his longsword toward the master of the array at its center.

Above the layers of dark clouds, suddenly a ray of light split through, like a golden sword piercing down from above the clouds, reflecting on the knight’s sword.

Seven or eight weapons almost simultaneously pierced the elder knight’s chest, causing him to spout blood, using his last strength to watch the sword he had thrown.

”Favor of faith!” Manlo Huolite’s face showed a look of terror as he hysterically shouted, ”Stop it!”

But no one could stop that sword filled with courage and sacrifice; the cultists all stepped aside.

Until a giant bone claw extended from the dark fog, protecting the master of the array, a clear ringing sound as the blade struck the bone claw, leaving a deep mark there.

Then it bounced away.

Flying diagonally to the center of the square, it landed securely on the base of the monument to the valiant knight, the sword handle, trembling lightly, emitting a clear, resonant tremor.

Fang Hong saw it all clearly.

It was but an ordinary sword.

There was no such thing as a fairy’s Holy Sword, Galapea.

But the light slanting down from the clouds, reflecting on the blade like a pool of snow light, casting light on the base of the monument. At that moment, in this dark city—

It seemed especially meaningful.

Fang Hong watched as the light gradually faded, the knight’s eyes also dimming.

”My lord has revived!” Manlo Huolite’s signature voice rang out, he sneered, ”Descendant of the Dragon Slayer, and Sir Elpaxin, you are just one step too late!”

”Mr. Diket!” Misu cried out in grief.

But the older knight lowered his head, no longer able to respond to her call.

Misu stood there, stunned.

After a while, she turned back as if she had made a decision.

”Don’t laugh too soon, Manlo,” Misu said through gritted teeth, ”I’ve long known your scheme, the container of Dragon’s Golden Eyes, it’s a double-edged sword for you.”

”What use is that,” Manlo replied in a shrill voice, ”it’s destined to be in our hands, blame your ancestors for being too trusting.”

”Perhaps not.”

Misu’s voice was low.

She lifted her head, her eyes sparking with golden flames, ”You seem to have forgotten one thing, I am also a descendant of the Dragon Slayer lineage.”

Manlo was slightly stunned.

But he quickly realized something, his face changing color, and then he screamed in horror, ”Stop her, don’t let her get close!”

”Too late—” Misu’s eyes filled with increasingly fierce golden flames, seemingly about to burn through her originally gray eyes and burst forth. With a tearing sound, a dark dragon wing extended from behind Misu, and at the same moment, her voice also turned deep and husky, magnetic.

She said to Manlo, pausing between each word, ”You thought the least of, most contemptible existence would deliver you a fatal blow in the end.”

”Let’s see what that little girl left for you as a surprise.”

She stretched out her hand, her palm now a sharp claw.

”My Dragon’s Golden Eyes!? Impossible!” Manlo cried out incredulously. He watched in disbelief as the ring burning with golden flame, as if answering its owner’s call, flew straight towards Misu.

He froze for a good while before reacting, hysterically shouting, ”A life contract!? When did you mark it!?”

Misu, now completely with lava-like vertical pupils, watched him coldly.

”That wasn’t me.”

”Not you?”

Manlo opened his mouth wide, staring at the blood-stained mark in Misu’s hands, as she coldly smirked, ”Understand now?”
