Pillar of Yita

He seemed to be observing the effect of the attack—

After a moment, Fang Hong continued to speak, ”Bearing sixty-two, increase the delay fuse by one notch, and add three more rounds.”

”Bearing seventy-three, increase the delay fuse by another notch, and add one more round.”

”Wait, we are running out of magic power!” Parker couldn’t help but shout.

”Swap the magic storage crystal, Tianlan!”

”Brother Ade, it’s coming right up—!”

As the roar and flash of the explosion passed, sparse skeleton figures immediately appeared in the forest, but Fang Hong raised his hand, and the walkers on the platform immediately aimed their muzzles in that direction.

This scene left Chris petrified—

At the Elpaxin Artisan Association, he had seen the operation of constructs, but the operation of walkers, at the very least, was the domain of professionals, Level 20 and above. But a sixteen or seventeen-year-old Level 20 craftsman, could that be possible?

Regardless of whether it was possible or if the young man could accept it, Fang Hong had issued the firing command.

The fortress walkers once again began a torrential barrage of fire, special magic tracer bullets stretching out into the forest like four fire serpents. In Chris’s eyes, they were like four flaming whips, smiting the previously invincible undead, who fell to the ground one after another.

Some were even hit so hard they flew into the air, breaking in two and rolling back down to the ground from afar.

Meanwhile, Fang Hong kept the four walkers firing alternately in pairs, never giving any stragglers the chance to come close. What made Chris’s eyes widen was that the fortress’s magazine capacity was only a hundred and thirty rounds, but whenever a Type II walker ran out of bullets, a clockwork fairy would fly over from behind with a new chain of bullets.

It seemed the walker’s loading mechanism had been specially modified; the clockwork fairy only needed to sink down for the bullet chain to click into place on the walker’s construct.

Then the clockwork fairy would fly up again, returning to the other side of Saddle Bridge.

At that moment, a somewhat cute female voice would call out from the other side, ”There are three more chains of bullets left, Brother Ade!” Even if there was an occasional mishap during the bullet change, a tall youth would rush up from behind, swiftly helping the clockwork fairy correct the mistake.

In this way, the four walkers guaranteed almost uninterrupted firing during a downtime of over three minutes, keeping all approaching skeletons at bay with their barrage of fire.

At the same time, the Burden Beasts of Gey Ridge had almost never stopped moving forward.

How many flexible constructs could the other side control? Chris’s mind was filled with nothing but shock. He had also learned to operate flexible constructs and naturally could tell that even as the clockwork fairies repeatedly reloaded the walkers’ constructs, Fang Hong had never lost control over any one of the four walkers.

But the poor young man had not noticed the motionless doll-girl sitting at the table inside the house, the silver light flickering in her emerald eyes, the invisible webs extending along the flow of ether magic power behind her, spreading out over the entire battlefield.

This was the power of a Fairy Master, the first time it had been displayed in this era by its actual possessor.

Fang Hong even had the vague sense that the four walkers were now not even his limit.

”I’ve swapped it!” In just a moment, Parker had replaced the new magic storage crystal.

”Bearing ninety, shortest delay fuse, fire four rounds quickly.”

In the forest under the night sky, the glow of explosions emerged once again.

And at this moment, aided by the shimmering light of the fire, Chris finally saw the figure he recognized.

”It’s Chief Protector!” he suddenly exclaimed with joy, ”Sir, I see Mr. Diket, he’s alright!”

Fang Hong had, of course, already noticed the other party. In fact, his clockwork fairies had been circling above the older knight to guide him, and he had already lost two clockwork fairies for this cause.

It almost broke his heart.

Only then did he turn around and shout over to the other side of Saddle Bridge, ”Mr. Reed, it’s up to you now!”
