Pillar of Yita

Divine Barrier.

Fang Hong saw this scene and made his Clockwork Fairy stop mid-air. This person was also a Paladin of Marlan, and he had just realized that these people must be residents of a nearby village.

And the older knight must be the local Chief Protector, a position generally held concurrently by the Holy Temple Knights of Marlan.

As protectors, brave guardians, and executors of justice, Lady Marlan commanded the second-most number of temples after Roman because her temples often stood in the remotest settlements where human civilization spread its fire; such were the bounds of her sword-plowed territories.

She swore to protect, so her followers, besides Ranger Knights like Mr. Reed who pursued freedom, were mostly protectors.

Like their goddess, these knights took serious oaths to practice with the sword and protected a place throughout their lives.

Just like the older knight before them.

Fang Hong couldn’t help but feel deep respect.

He had long heard of these knights’ deeds, but witnessing them firsthand was something else entirely. In the forest, the civilians were evacuating, and only the older knight stood alone, sword in hand, facing the tide of Undead.

The enemy was not high-level; Fang Hong estimated they were around level ten, slightly better than Elpaxin’s guards but far inferior to the Big Cat People’s Reed.

His armor also looked somewhat old, a Magic Guided Armor in the folded-sword style, a model popular over twenty years ago which Fang Hong had only seen in Kapuka’s museum.

However, the knight’s slightly outdated Magic Guided Reactor shone brightly like a comet at this moment.

Like a black flood sweeping over the forest’s skeletal frame, a layer of black smoke hovered over the stark white bones due to the enhancement of negative energy; these low-rank Undead weren’t very strong—but they were vast in number.

The Undead were no match for the knight. If he had been conservative with his power, he could have held on much longer, possibly even breaking through to create a path.

However, in the cold light of the rain curtain, the proud knight stood surrounded by Undead, disdainfully looking down on his enemies, as if holding the Blazing Sword—Rotas, the Dwarf God, had forged it on the anvil of the earth, Lady Marlan’s righteous sword—Morning Light.

At his onset, it was as if divine light spanned thousands of miles, wherein dark creatures turned to ash and smoke wherever it passed.

Fang Hong watched, his heart surging with emotions, his blood boiling uncontrollably.

He also harbored some worries inside.

This noble knight had chosen another path because only in this way could he delay the entire Undead’s march by himself, buying time for the civilians fleeing in the forest behind him.

He was overloading the Magic Guided Reactor—

Out of all the people on the battlefield, only Fang Hong had noticed this.

I must do something. He told himself, and with a downward motion of his right hand, three Clockwork Fairies circled back, pulling long white lines through the rain curtain—towards the knight.

At the same time, he flipped up his Wind Goggles, raised his head, and turned to the others on the platform of the Beast of Burden, saying, ”Something’s happened up ahead, Miss Atira, have Mr. Greyrock change course—”

The others hadn’t dared interrupt him before, but now they gathered around, all asking, ”What happened?”

Tianlan’s voice was the loudest among them.

Fang Hong simply shook his head, ”There’s a Tide of the Undead up ahead, someone is surrounded; we need to help.”

”A Tide of the Undead?” Tianlan was shocked, ”How could there be a Tide of the Undead here, there’s no ancient battlefield nearby, could there be an Undead Wizard causing trouble?”

”Not sure yet.”

”Don’t ask so many questions,” Atira said with a frown to the others, ”Parker, Reed, get ready for combat. Tianlan, Luo Yu, didn’t Ade give you Magic Guided Conductors? Try using them—”

Luo Yu and Tianlan looked at each other, not expecting to be drafted into actual combat so soon.

Then Xiesta stepped forward to say something, but Hilveld had already left the house, stopping in front of her and softly shaking her head. She approached and asked softly, ”Mr. Ade, how strong are the Undead, are we strong enough?”

Fang Hong nodded, ”They’re just skeletal frames. I’ve calculated that if we rely on the platform for combat, it shouldn’t be a problem. Mr. Reed is even their nemesis, but we must hurry.”

”So what’s the plan?” Hilveld asked again.

”Do we need to have Mr. Greyrock turn to the north to enter the battlefield?” Atira added.

”No,” Fang Hong shook his head and gestured with his hand, ”Let Mr. Greyrock turn around, and we’ll enter the battlefield from the side like this, ideally when the Undead appear, we can position the side with the drawbridge toward them.”

”From the side?”

Fang Hong nodded, ”Leave the rest to me, I’ll handle the suppression, Miss Atira and Mr. Reed will rescue people.” He made his plan clear to the others and looked at the Lion People. ”Mr. Reed, the pressure might be slightly higher on you in the upcoming combat.”

Reed nodded nonchalantly, ”Don’t worry, it’s always been our duty as Marlan’s Knights, little guy, I’m very pleased with your decision.” Saying this, the tall Lion Person picked up his Double-Headed Sword and walked towards the battlefield, running his claw over the Magic Guided Conductor, which immediately emitted a bright glow from the crystal.

As Big Cat Mr. moved away, Tianlan couldn’t help but get a little excited and said to Luo Yu next to him, ”Did you hear that, did you hear that, we’re going to join the combat. It’s a shame Gita’s not awake, she definitely would have regretted missing this—watch me later, ah, it’s a shame it’s not those bad guys from the other day.”
