Pillar of Yita

Luo Yu glanced at her once and shook his head.

Noticing this subtle gesture, Tianlan looked at him with dissatisfaction. ”What are you shaking your head for? Do you look down on me?”

”No, it’s just that I feel you might not be of much use because undead creatures are not affected by mental influences.”

”What?” Tianlan was stunned for a moment. ”What nonsense are you talking about? I don’t play sound magic, but I can provide you with enhancement effects, right?”

However, it took her a moment to realize what he meant and she screamed, ”Ah, how annoying! Luo Yu, are you saying my music is noise?”

Although Fang Hong very much agreed with this viewpoint, right now he was not in the mood to talk more and silently turned around, putting the wind goggles back on.

In midair of the forest, the Clockwork Fairy that had been hovering suddenly moved—

Within the veil of rain, the few scattered undead had caught up with the civilians ahead. They weren’t very agile, but they were much better than the civilians who were deformed by tension and fear, occasionally tripping over the entangled roots of the forest, falling behind, and falling into the hands of those undead.

One could easily imagine the outcome.

Screams and cries pierced through the sound of the rain, resounding throughout the forest.

The young man ran forward as hard as he could, trying to pull up those who had fallen behind. With his efforts, he managed to regroup a small team. But exhausted, his hands and feet were starting to go numb, and despair swept through his heart in waves.

This was already the limit...

He looked back and saw that in the depths of the forest, the figure of the Chief Protector could no longer be seen, only the cold, slowly approaching eerie green lights remained in the darkness. But once again, he heard that strange sound.

It was like the mechanical buzz of a bee, faint and shrill.

He looked up, only to see with astonishment a white line flying toward him through the curtain of rain.

The Clockwork Fairy—

The young man, who had once studied Alchemy in Elpaxin, instantly had a bright light burst in his eyes.

In the distance, an explosion of dazzling light also burst forth amidst the sea of undead.

”Divine Light, Divine Grace, God-Blessed, Lady Marlan—”

The older Knight coughed up blood and slowly withdrew his right hand from pressing on his left chest, while his left hand ’whirled’ and ripped off the metal clasp of the Magic Guided Reactor, tossing the completely destroyed and scrapped device onto the ground.

With a thud, he let out a breath, leaned on his sword with some difficulty, and fearlessly faced the encroaching dark creatures from all sides.

Only, the blade in his hand had long lost its luster.

Three faint lights suddenly flashed from a distance, buzzed through the curtain of rain, and quickly flapped their wings to the Knight’s side. They were three Clockwork Fairies. Their brass shells flickered with tiny lights in the rain, circling around the Knight before flying off to the left in unison.

The Knight turned his head.

”Clockwork Fairy, Combat Artisan?” He flashed a surprised light, ”You want me to go left?”

A feather arrow flew toward him, hitting his breastplate with a ’ding’ sound. He looked in the direction where a dark sea of undead stretched, and suddenly, grinding his teeth, he gripped the two-handed sword in his hands once more.

In the forest—

The young man was watching Clockwork Fairy come to a stop ahead.

”Chris, why has it stopped moving?” Behind him were more than a dozen anxious faces, looking pale as they stared at the small object hanging in midair.

”I, I don’t know either,” the young man shook his head somewhat bewilderedly.

Everyone instinctively turned around.

The blotchy points of light in the darkness, wobbling constantly, kept pressing forward with unchanging persistence. Even with the sound of the rain in their ears, they could still hear the creaks and squeaks hidden behind the watery noise.

Until someone asked timidly, ”Wait a second, do any of you feel something?”

Everyone was panting and shook their heads, truly unable to run anymore.

But the undead never tire.

Just then, the ground trembled slightly.

Everyone was startled, and a look of surprise flashed across the young man’s eyes. Together with the others, they turned their heads—a slight shake of the ground nearly caused everyone to lose their footing, but everyone stared, surprised, as a huge figure slowly stepped out from behind a section of Linden Forest.

Undoubtedly, it was a giant beast.

As the beast moved forward, what first appeared in people’s vision was a towering platform and a Carry House—on top of the platform, out of the Carry House, a somewhat peculiar Construct began to walk out slowly, followed by a second, a third, a fourth, all in a straight line, clacking toward the far end of the Saddle Bridge.

With a ’plop’ sound, the Clockwork Fairy fell into the mud and water.

But no one was paying attention to it anymore—

Fang Hong stood on the platform, holding down the Alchemist’s trench coat with one hand against the fierce wind and rain that pulled at his coat, making it fly back. He lifted his head to face the flickering algae glow within the darkness.

”Slow down, Sister Atira,” Tianlan’s voice came from the other side of the Saddle Bridge.

”Ready.”

Fang Hong nodded.

He slowly raised his right hand, with fingers together, drawing a semicircle in the direction of his wrist.

With a click, four Walker II-type six-legged spider constructs interlocked and under his control, they turned around together, their Balance Stabilizers whirring under the drive of magic power, making a buzzing sound.

They propped up their base—

A three-tube revolving Magic Guided Gun, its long barrels gleaming with a dark glow in the firelight.

The twelve dark muzzles faced one direction together.

Fortress-type II Walker.

In the midst of the forest, the young man immediately recognized the thing he had only seen a few times at the Elpaxin Artisan Association. As if by divine inspiration, he lunged forward and shouted:

”Get down!”

”Fire.”

A flash of firelight tore through the rainy night.
