”Come listen to me sing!”

Faced with such a sudden request, lilith was a little at a loss.

”Eh?”

”Just sit here.”

Serea stepped back a few paces and stood in her humanoid form, then cleared her throat.

”Ahem, get ready, here it comes.”

Every mermaid was a natural-born diva, and Serea, in her Deep Sea Mermaid form, was no exception.

”Ah~”

Her singing voice came out. Although it was just a wordless hum, lilith was still amazed upon hearing it.

Slap slap slap!

Lilith applauded again, and at the same time, that energy began to appear.

Sure enough, using singing to break a seal was just a triggering condition; the key to gaining strength was the so-called ’Faith Crystal’.

However, after humming one section, only half of a Faith Crystal had formed.

”This isn’t working, looks like I need a few more.”

As she spoke, Serea ran out excitedly, and a few minutes later, the maid group assembled.

”Queen Serea, is there something you wish of us?”

Lola was a bit confused, and so were Celia, Vina, Dorulu, and Doluka.

”Come listen to me sing!”

”Sing?”

Everyone looked puzzled, but Serea didn’t explain and just started singing—in a different way this time.

She simply hummed a tune, and the moment her singing reached everyone, they all looked amazed, and Faith Crystals continued to condense.

System: Faith Crystal x3 obtained.

Got it!

With an outstretched hand, Serea caught a milky-white material Crystal in her palm. Like other materials, it could be exchanged for about 10 units of Dark Power, but the method of obtaining it was rather odd.

When she brought the Faith Crystal close to the Deep Sea Relic, it transformed into faith power and merged into the gemstone.

It works!

Though trying to absorb it still failed as prompted, at least she knew where the problem lay. As long as she injected enough Faith Crystals into the Deep Sea Relic, the seal should be unlockable.

But does it really have to be through singing?

Then Serea bounced around with everyone, but that kind of power never appeared again.

”Emm... This way of acquiring materials is so fuzzy...”

System: The Abyss Altar has two routes—fear and faith. Fear commands awe, faith commands worship, but both only appear when someone’s emotions reach an extreme.

”Now that you put it that way, I get it.”

But if that was the case...

Thinking of an evil god not whispering in people’s ears, but putting on a performance of ’Tan Qing Shui He’ to gain energy—tsk, what an image that paints.

”What on earth are you doing...”

Celia asked in confusion.

”Just a little experiment.”

Serea didn’t elaborate. She pondered how to make others’ worship of her reach its peak...

Suddenly, a bold—if not outrageous—idea popped into Serea’s head.

Become an idol!

Pft... What nonsense was she imagining?

But on further thought, for now using the mermaids’ beautiful singing to captivate others was the most stable method. After all, faith Crystals could only be condensed at close range for her, so...

”Ahem, Lola, don’t you girls feel bored living in the forest?”

”No, but Captain Maro and them sometimes complain that they can’t see the latest operas or novels.”

”Is that so? Then let’s set up an opera house.”

”Eh? Opera house?”

”Yes, that way, no one will feel bored.”

”Construction isn’t a problem, but who will perform?”

”I’ll invite a friend over to perform when the time comes.”

”Queen Serea’s friend?”

”Yes, my friend—not anyone else’s. So, let’s do that. Celia, please help rush out the blueprint, we’ll begin construction tomorrow!”

”Alright.”

Celia replied straightforwardly.

”I have nothing else for now. Everyone, go get some rest. We have to keep working hard tomorrow!”

Afterward, everyone went back to rest, leaving just Serea and Lilith in the room.

”Hoo~”

Letting out a long breath, Serea gazed at the milky-white Faith Crystal in her hand and thought to herself.

”All of this is to gain strength, hmm!”

Thus comforting herself, Serea hugged Lilith and went to sleep.

......

A peaceful night did not bring sleep to everyone.

At this moment, black Hat was kneeling before Maregof, half his face swollen high, his timid gaze making it clear that Maregof had used force.

”That damned woman, bastard!”

Clang clang clatter!

The sound of smashing things echoed for a long time. Only after no more objects remained for Maregof to vent his anger on did he loudly interrogate Adolf.

”This is the undefeated monster you spoke of?”

”I never said undefeated; I just said those monsters were somewhat powerful. But if they come across stronger enemies, it’s a different matter.”

”So you mean that Serea, that damned woman, is actually stronger than me in the jungle!”

”Heh.”

Adolf only smiled, saying nothing further, but that smile utterly infuriated Maregof.

”You!”

”Lord Maregof, please don’t be angry.”

Alysta held Maregof back and pulled his short body into her embrace.

The softness behind him soothed some of Maregof’s anger. Calming down, he said,

”I hope you can give me a satisfactory answer, otherwise, there’s no need for us to cooperate any longer.”

Maregof looked at Adolf, whose ambiguous smile remained fixed on his face.

”This outcome is entirely within expectations.”

”What do you mean by that?”

”My lord has always harbored distrust toward us, and has always refused to accept that power—if not, we wouldn’t have been limited to making such low-level creatures.”

”......”

As Adolf said this, what he meant by ’what Maregof refused’ was...

Maregof looked warily at the ball of dark-purple energy in Adolf’s hand, considering his options.

According to Adolf, if he absorbed this power, he could control even stronger monsters—enough to sweep away any obstacles in the jungle, including that damned woman Serea.

However, maregof could not trust the two of them, for their power was too sinister, too bizarre.

While Maregof was hesitating, alysta leaned closer.

”Lord Maregof, if you are worried, please look at this. As long as this is here, our technology and I are yours. We only ask that you take us in.”

Alysta pointed to the ring on her neck—Maregof’s Mental Receiver, the device that controlled them.

The girl continued to enchant Maregof, who turned to look at her. For some reason—whether anger or something else—Alysta’s face appeared as Serea’s in his eyes.

Impulsively, maregof grabbed Alysta, pressing her beneath him, his eyes full of brutality.

If he could use that power to defeat that damned woman, he would absolutely make her his slave and make her regret ever opposing him.

So...

Looking at the power in Adolf’s hand, maregof closed his eyes and contemplated for a while.

”You all leave first; I need to calm down.”

”We await your answer, my lord.”

Adolf was in no hurry. He and Black Hat led the others out, leaving only Alysta and Maregof alone in the hall. And as for Maregof’s method of ’calming down’...

(To be continued...)
