Rebirth in Another World as the Undead Queen

The Awakening Beverly

”Hmm!!!”

Serea made a confused sound, and then everyone in the room looked at the floating necklace.

”What’s going on?”

Inside the necklace, a shattered soul was shouting.

”Damn that guy, he actually devoured all the soul power that I painstakingly accumulated! Once I get out, I’m going to tear him apart eighteen times! Eighteen times!”

Although this was what he thought, morzada was still very afraid of Dogsius, so he dared not appear and pretended instead that his soul had dissipated.

Dogsius’s true body was inside Celia, and his consciousness could only connect to Serea’s spiritual space. While he was invincible to souls, once he left his home turf, he was just a cute little creature, unable to sense the hidden Morzada.

But now, morzada was already a remnant soul—any creature’s soul power was stronger than his. What kind of trouble could he possibly stir up?

Heaven never seals off all paths. Just as Morzada was cornered, he sensed a soulless body—such a vessel was perfect for his remnant soul to nurture itself.

”I need to transfer my soul quickly, or once that wretched woman gains control of the token, it’ll all be over.”

Morzada was truly scared. Although hiding in the necklace meant he wouldn’t be discovered, the necklace was next to Serea. If he didn’t leave now, there’d be no chance in the future.

”Hurry, faster!”

Morzada shouted within his heart, then a formless arc flashed and vanished. For a split second, Dogsius became alert, but soon that mental power disappeared again.

The necklace fell, and Serea reached out to catch it.

”Uh... so nothing happened?”

Serea said this as she tried to infuse spiritual power again, but nothing abnormal happened—the necklace had now become her property.

”System, does this necklace pose any threat to me?”

System: It poses no threat whatsoever.

It was the same answer as when she Appraised the bone ring before. With that, Serea felt at ease.

”Alright, then Leklis, come with me. I’m quite interested in that experiment you mentioned.”

”Yes, lady Serea.”

Saying this, the crowd returned to the Elf Tree house; Serea was ready to test the viability of synthesizing pure power of the netherworld.

Meanwhile, in another room of the medical ward, Camilla had just finished her alchemy practice and returned. Besides her, there was a young girl lying unconscious on the bed.

The girl’s name was ”Beverly.”

She was the young thief who had followed Camilla and Maro to Appraise the ancient tomb of Addis. Beyond being teammates, Beverly was Camilla’s childhood best friend.

Both orphans, the two had grown up together little by little in the church’s orphanage. Thanks to their talent, they entered the Central Magic Academy. The two girls should have had a bright future—but due to an unexpected accident, Beverly fell into an eternal slumber.

That time, Beverly had been used as a vessel for Addis’s resurrection. Although she survived, her soul had perished, and she was doomed to never awaken. Camilla, however, wasn’t willing to give up and insisted on caring for the sleeping girl, hoping that one day Beverly could wake up.

Even though she knew it was an impossible dream...

”Beverly-chan, I learned so much about alchemy again today. Teacher Little Gold is truly an erudite mentor. One day, I’ll definitely make a potion that can wake you—definitely!”

Camilla told the sleeping girl stories only she could hear; it had become part of her daily routine.

As always, she held Beverly’s hand and pressed it to her own chest to pray, praying for a miracle to one day occur.

But, perhaps recalling something, a shimmer of tears appeared at the corner of Camilla’s eye. She closed her eyes and placed Beverly’s hand to her face, quietly feeling Beverly’s warmth.

At that moment, Beverly’s hand suddenly tightened. Camilla, as if witnessing something unbelievable, startled, opened her eyes and looked at Beverly.

”Beverly-chan, is that you?!”

Camilla shouted, but Beverly’s sleeping body made no response. Seeing this, Camilla murmured in disappointment.

”So it was just an illusion...”

She sighed, but suddenly, a faint whisper entered her ears.

”Water...”

!!!

Once again, Camilla’s eyes widened. She looked at Beverly and saw her eyelids trembling slightly.

”Beverly-chan!”

”Water...”

This time, Camilla clearly heard the voice, and Beverly’s eyes slowly opened.

Seeing the girl holding her hand, morzada only felt a searing pain in her throat. It wasn’t thirst—this body hadn’t spoken in so long that the sudden sound tore her vocal cords and throat a little.

Still in shock, Camilla hurriedly replied once she regained her senses.

”Water! Yes, I’ll get you some right away!”

Camilla, excited, dashed out and returned quickly with a clear glass of spring water.

When the water was brought before Beverly, she tried to sit up, but after so long without moving, her body felt weak. She could only prop herself up a little before falling back.

”Damn it, this body is so frail.”

Morzada complained—he, no, it should be she now, as she had inherited Beverly’s body and become the soul within.

As she struggled, a slender hand supported the back of her neck, gently raising her head.

Sweet spring water trickled into the girl’s mouth.

The spring quenched her throat. Camilla only fed her a little, but even that small amount completely cleared Beverly’s mind.

Looking at the wooden ceiling and the Camilla sitting by the bed, ”Beverly” shook her head a little, then merged with Beverly’s original memories.

”Come, sit up.”

Camilla was still emotional. Seeing Beverly try to get up, she quickly helped her lean against a pillow.

”Beverly-chan, you’re finally awake!”

Hearing Camilla’s words, ”Beverly” paused for a moment. Morzada was in the process of absorbing Beverly’s original memories. Once she finished, she smiled—a smile that matched Beverly’s perfectly.

”How long was I unconscious?”

”So, so long...”

Tears choked Camilla’s words, while Beverly gently raised her hand to stroke the girl’s cheek.

That gesture was based on Beverly’s memories—a clear act of disguise for Morzada. She knew she wasn’t yet safe, so she had to hide her true self. With her token taken, she needed to recover her strength by reclaiming it. Until then, she could not be exposed.

Of course, Camilla didn’t know Beverly was just pretending. Seeing the miracle happen before her eyes, she hugged Beverly in excitement.

”Thank goodness, Beverly-chan, you’re finally awake!”

In the girl’s embrace, Beverly wore a gentle smile, but her heart said...

”Damn it! The great Morzada is no one some mere human can touch!”

However, Beverly caught a glimpse of Camilla’s delicate features, and as a lecherous Morzada, she was briefly stunned.

”But this is all for the disguise. There’s nothing to be done about it! Yes, that’s right!”

Thinking thus, morzada—no, Beverly—happily accepted Camilla’s hug. After all, her recovery would require her help.

As for how she might recover...

Controlling the weak body, Beverly gazed affectionately at Camilla. At that moment, Camilla sensed something odd in the atmosphere. As the strange feeling hung between them, Beverly suddenly leaned in...
