Berserk God of War

Chapter 707: Chapter 707: Invincible God General, Side-by-Side Prince

Sikong Jing heard the words and smiled again, unquestionably stepping forward to stand in front of Cheng Yusu, at the very forefront of all the ministers.

The entire Ye Emperor Hall once again fell into silence.

What exactly was the new Emperor, Ji Tan, planning?

Right, the Wangyou Sect... Perhaps soon the Wangyou Sect would come to kill Sikong Jing. Some princes and ministers began to hesitate—should they warn Sikong Jing?

Those who wanted to help Sikong Jing were all opposed to Ji Tan.

They also felt that Sikong Jing was too young to be aware of the Wangyou Sect’s arrival and unaware of Ji Tan’s terrifying scheming.

At this moment, Ji Tan burst into laughter, turned back to his throne, and then, pretending to ponder, asked, ”Brother Sikong, with such great achievements and merit in your hands, what title do you think I should bestow upon you?”

”Commander Cheng is the Imperial Army Marshal and also holds the title of Prince Zhen Nan; you must be granted a higher rank.”

What he meant was, what title could be higher than that of Cheng Yusu?

He then looked towards the assembly of ministers for suggestions, but no one answered.

However, just at that moment, an enchantingly seductive female voice rose gently from the side door of the great hall, ”Your Majesty, this concubine believes that Brother Sikong should be appointed as the Invincible God General of the Long Night Empire, a ’side-by-side prince.’”

Upon hearing this, all the ministers trembled violently, their gazes falling on the side door.

Which woman dared suggest such a terrifying title? Invincible God General and ’side-by-side prince’—were these titles to be taken lightly?

At the same time, the previously composed Sikong Jing suddenly looked up, a flash of killing intent in his eyes.

He too looked towards the side door, only to see a familiar young woman who couldn’t be more familiar, dressed in luxurious brocade clothing, gracefully stepping forward... It was Yan Ruyu.

And her attire was that of the Long Night Empress.

Behind her, a group of palace maids followed closely.

This was yet another unexpected turn for Sikong Jing. Yan Ruyu had disappeared since the execution of Seventh Prince Ji Ming and now reappeared in the Ye Emperor Hall of the Long Night Palace.

She had, indeed, transformed into the Empress of the Long Night Empire.

So, it turned out that she was saved by Ji Tan... It was a deadly and powerful move, a dramatic reversal of fortunes.

Yet, Sikong Jing immediately restrained his killing intent and couldn’t help but laugh.

Invincible God General, ’side-by-side prince’...

Such familiar titles—they were exactly what he had been granted by the Emperor of Great Shang, Yang Tianmo, after pacifying the rebellion in the Canglong Small Domain.

And that very night, he became a prisoner, banished to Great Shang Yunzhou.

That experience led him to see everything clearly and gave him a true rebirth.

And now, at this moment, Yan Ruyu couldn’t help but step out smugly, intending to humiliate him with the same title.

Interesting, truly interesting!

”Ruyu, how come you’re out here?” Ji Tan was taken aback, with a hint of displeasure flashing in his eyes.

As the Empress, Yan Ruyu was not supposed to appear at this time—it went against his will.

Nevertheless, Yan Ruyu bowed slightly.

”Your Majesty, Brother Sikong and this concubine are old acquaintances. He was once the Invincible God General and a ’side-by-side prince’ in my Canglong Small Domain. Therefore, this concubine has come out to alleviate Your Majesty’s worries and begs for your forgiveness,” she said.

After speaking, she looked triumphantly at Sikong Jing, exhilarated in that moment.

Sikong Jing had no idea that while he was fighting desperately outside, she had merely whispered a few breezes into Ji Tan’s ear and become the second most powerful person in the Long Night Empire. Surely, he must be extremely shocked and angry now, mustn’t he?

How could I not show myself during such a thrilling moment?

And how could I resist using these two titles to stir up Sikong Jing’s painful memories?

By now, the Wangyou Sect had already taken action, monitoring and patrolling all areas of the Imperial Palace and even the Imperial City. By the time I made my appearance, the Wangyou Sect had confirmed...

That apart from Sikong Jing himself, he hadn’t brought any experts or powerful demon beasts with him.

If his death was certain, how could I not come out to show myself, watching from high above as he meets his demise?

Upon hearing this, Ji Tan dismissed the slight dissatisfaction; he understood Yan Ruyu’s hatred for Sikong Jing. Ji Tan was also very clear that Sikong Jing had once been under Yan Ruyu’s command, awarded the titles of Invincible God General and side-by-side prince.

After deliberately pondering for a moment, Ji Tan said with a smile, ”Since even the Empress can’t help but come out to share the concerns, then I shall grant it... From now on, Brother Sikong shall be the Invincible God General of the Long Night Empire, and also the side-by-side prince.”

As soon as this command was given, the whole venue remained silent, their eyes still fixed on Yan Ruyu.

Even now, many people were puzzled as to where the Empress had come from, and why Ji Tan would have her become the Empress.

At the same time, Yan Ruyu, with narrowed eyes, looked towards Sikong Jing and said sinisterly, ”Brother Sikong, won’t you kneel and thank the dragon’s grace?”

She was on top of the world, filled with triumph!

She had never imagined such a scene, truly a reenactment of the past!

But times had changed, and Sikong Jing still wore an expressionless face. Under the scrutiny of the crowd, he had no intention of kneeling, and the entire Ye Emperor Hall was deadly silent, filled with oppressive tension.

Until the sneering laughter of Cheng Yusu sounded, ”Sikong God General, if you’ve come for a reward, why don’t you kneel?”

Upon hearing this, Sikong Jing finally spoke, ”Because I am still waiting for something, like a cup of celebratory wine, perhaps poisoned celebratory wine. I wonder if Brother Ji Tan could offer me that?”

These words caused a massive shock to everyone present, and suddenly the situation took a dramatic turn.

Clang clang clang...

The sounds of metal rang out in the hall once more, as Huang Yu and the others surrounded Sikong Jing, their murderous intent palpable.

Ji Tan’s smile gradually faded, asking in return, ”Sikong God General, why would you say such a thing?”

At this moment, Yan Ruyu preempted with her response, ”Your Majesty, does Sikong God General think some past events will be repeated?”

”Because I once gave him a cup of poisoned wine.”

”However, at that time it was my father’s order. As for His Majesty now, it seems there’s no need for such trouble.”

Suddenly, Ji Tan was reminded of this incident, which Yan Ruyu had also mentioned to him before.

Ji Tan’s eyes narrowed into a slit as he stared straight at Sikong Jing, chuckling, ”Sikong God General misunderstands me; why would I offer you a cup of poisoned wine? Wouldn’t that be disheartening?”

He still didn’t want to publicly admit he wanted to kill Sikong Jing, fearing he would be avenged by Wang Ge.

A glint flashed in Yan Ruyu’s eyes, instantly understanding Ji Tan’s intent.

Gently stroking her hair, Yan Ruyu said with a smile, ”Sikong God General also misunderstands me. As the saying goes, it’s better to resolve enmities than to create them. Now that we all serve the Long Night Empire, surely you hold too great a grudge, God General?”

As she spoke, Yan Ruyu’s laughter rang out, ”giggling,” her mockery igniting the entire hall.

The laughter abruptly ceased as Yan Ruyu cocked her head to one side and continued, ”Oh, there’s one thing I must remind Sikong God General of. The prodigy Pang Ruanyi from the Heavenly Dao Academy has arrived at the Long Night Saint Dragon Palace. Are you aware of this, God General Sikong?”

Although pretending to untangle the misunderstanding, Yan Ruyu deliberately mentioned this matter.

Since the Wangyou Sect hadn’t caught any sign of Sikong Jing arriving with a demon beast or experts, then he must be waiting for the appearance of the Long Night Saint Dragon Palace; so she went straight for his so-called morale.

Sure enough, Sikong Jing’s expression changed drastically, another matter he hadn’t foreseen.
