Berserk God of War

Chapter 706: Chapter 706: Below One Person, Above Ten Thousand People

The voice harshly swept through the entire Ye Emperor Hall, solidifying Ji Tan’s expression.

At such a time, there was still someone who dared to disturb them.

All the ministers, regardless of their feelings, were utterly astonished. They all turned to look towards the entrance of the hall. Who could be so bold and audacious to proclaim themselves unparalleled in merit, especially at this time?

Clang, clang, clang...

Meanwhile, several experts of the Imperial City Guard drew their weapons and surrounded the person outside the hall.

Huang Yu, serving as the Commander of the Imperial Guard, also charged out. But when he saw the person outside, he exclaimed in a low voice, ”Sikong Jing!”

These three words once again harshly reverberated within the Ye Emperor Hall.

All the ministers and the bitter princes within the hall were tremendously shaken. Today, this name was deafening to them!

With a loud bang, Ji Tan couldn’t help but stand up in shock, staring intensely at the young man at the entrance of the hall.

He, of course, would not forget the appearance of Sikong Jing, who was now dressed in black, wearing a wide overcoat with his left hand deeply tucked into his sleeve and his right hand placed outside.

This appearance gave off an indescribable aura of a master.

But now, Ji Tan was not in the mood to admire Sikong Jing’s heroic stance; his face was frantically changing colors. Sikong Jing had returned at this moment, and how had he suddenly arrived at the Ye Emperor Hall?

Damned, what were the Imperial Guards doing?

At this moment, feeling Ji Tan’s angry gaze, Huang Yu urgently demanded, ”Sikong Jing, how did you get in here?”

He felt a strange panic within. The name Sikong Jing was too formidable. Although the Imperial Palace was filled with powerful figures, such a prodigious person still managed to make his grand entrance.

It also put him, the Commander of the Imperial Guard, in a discredited light.

Sikong Jing calmly replied, ”Obviously, I walked in. With my unparalleled achievements, surely there’s a place for me in this hall, isn’t there?”

Indeed, there were many masters around, even experts from the Wangyou Sect monitoring in all directions.

But as for Sikong Jing, the Master of Ten Thousand Beasts, sneaking in silently was not a difficult task. All the creatures in the palace could cover for him, and he didn’t even need to hide his presence too much.

And upon his words, the hall fell silent once more.

No matter how much Ji Tan attempted to downplay Sikong Jing’s achievements and reputation, the ministers all clearly knew what he had done and also were well aware that Cheng Yusu’s capture of the Twelve States of Lower You was all due to his influence.

Everyone covertly swallowed, guessing why Sikong Jing had come. Was it really just to claim a position?

But they couldn’t figure it out and could only look towards Ji Tan at the highest seat.

Ji Tan’s countenance darkened. Reasonably, even if Sikong Jing returned, he shouldn’t have appeared inside the Imperial Palace. In Ji Tan’s mind, Sikong Jing didn’t have much connection with Ji Shengmang.

He had always emphasized to Yan Ruyu that Sikong Jing couldn’t possibly be ’Dark Wings’.

Thus, in Ji Tan’s view, the connection between Sikong Jing and Beigong Xianfeng was nothing more than a middleman, the General Ning Jingjing, at most just Sikong feeling exploited and discontent.

Hence, his presence in the Imperial Palace likely sought only one thing... the Wangyou Sect.

Sikong Jing had found that the Wangyou Sect was aiding him.

Perhaps he did really want some credit, not wishing his efforts in the War Soul Dynasty to be wasted entirely.

With this thought, Ji Tan then laughed, ”So, it’s Brother Sikong. You certainly have a place in my Ye Emperor Hall. I just wonder if you are willing to stand in that position and serve the Long Night Empire?”

Even though Sikong Jing was a genius, he was still a person of Jianghu and might not be willing to join the court. This is why Ji Tan asked tentatively.

Speaking, Ji Tan called out again, ”Commander Huang Yu, have your men stand down. Don’t scare Brother Sikong.”

By referring to Sikong Jing as ”brother” with his identity as the new emperor, he was paying great respect.

Huang Yu, upon hearing the command, couldn’t help but glare at Sikong Jing intensely for a moment before finally leading his men to quietly withdraw.

Meanwhile, Ji Tan also descended from the throne.

He walked step by step towards Sikong Jing, ready to personally greet his arrival with the highest honor.

But as he walked out, he secretly signaled his subordinates with his eyes.

Some individuals quietly left the hall, obviously to notify the Wangyou Sect to come and kill.

Right inside Ye Emperor Hall, they planned to slay Sikong Jing!

At the entrance of the great hall, upon seeing the Imperial Guard leaving, Sikong Jing also stepped into the hall, and after a few steps, he came face to face with Ji Tan, who feigned a smile and said, ”Brother Sikong, your safe return pleases me greatly.”

”Everything you did in the War Soul Dynasty is clear to me, you truly have extraordinary merit.”

He directly acknowledged Sikong Jing’s achievements, confirming what Sikong Jing had just claimed about his own unprecedented merit.

At this point, Ji Tan gestured towards the position of Cheng Yusu, the Great Marshal, and emphatically added, ”As long as Brother Sikong is willing to serve the Long Night Empire, he will stand in the same position as Commander Cheng.”

At this statement, the entire room gasped in shock.

Cheng Yusu was currently at the forefront, and all Sikong Jing had to do was agree to join the court to equal Cheng Yusu’s status!

And considering how young he still was, his future was unimaginably bright, yet many sighed in quiet, recognizing the impressive boldness of Ji Tan, certainly a cut above the previous emperor, Ji Shengmang.

Such a talented individual as Sikong Jing was destined to be a national treasure of the empire.

However, few could imagine that what Ji Tan was thinking at the moment was... even if he were to give up his throne now, what would it matter, as the Wangyou Sect would soon kill Sikong Jing, leaving him not much time to enjoy his pride.

”Brother Sikong, what do you think?” Ji Tan asked again.

In response, Sikong Jing gave a slight smile, and he slowly stepped toward the position Ji Tan had just indicated.

Accompanied by Ji Tan, he reached Cheng Yusu’s side and casually mocked, ”Cheng Yusu, we meet again.”

Cheng Yusu twitched the corner of his mouth and touched his face, filled with silent resentment, as he had been slapped by Sikong Jing back in Youye State City.

But now, he merely scoffed and nodded coldly, considering Sikong Jing would soon be dead anyway.

Then Sikong Jing turned back, looked at Ji Tan and said, ”I want to stand in front of Cheng Yusu. He does not deserve to be my equal.”

At these words, the whole place was astounded. Sikong Jing’s arrogance was perhaps too much.

No matter how great his merits, seniority must be considered.

At the same time, Cheng Yusu, even knowing Sikong Jing was doomed, couldn’t help but flush with anger at hearing these words.

Yet Ji Tan’s eyes flashed with a cold light, but he quickly covered it up and laughed in reply, ”Of course, with Brother Sikong’s merits, you absolutely deserve to stand at the foremost fronts, indeed deserving a position in the Long Night Empire just below one and above tens of thousands.”

It was still the same, whatever position Sikong Jing wanted now didn’t matter, for he was going to die soon anyway.

And Ji Tan was now thinking of something else, by elevating Sikong Jing to the highest position possible, if Wang Ge held a grudge later on, he could claim it was none of his business, that he had done right by Sikong Jing to the utmost!

At the same time, Ji Tan also intentionally insinuated in his words, no matter how much you jump around, you will still be... under me!
