From BOSS to Canon Fodder: She is Currently Out of Service!

Liang Xiaonuo’s words undoubtedly received the agreement of her companions. The energy cannon itself is a terrifying weapon formed by compressing pure energy through special techniques. However, no matter how great the destructive power is, it’s essentially still energy. As long as it’s energy, it’s the Insect Race’s favorite.

Those minor lackeys of the Insect Race indeed can’t withstand the bombardment of the energy cannon and turn to ashes, with one shot wiping out a swath. But those powerful Insect Race creatures don’t fear this at all. They might even forcibly absorb the pure energy from the energy cannon, becoming even stronger!

The strong wind generated by the energy cannon’s bombardment howled continuously. Su Jiameng waved her hand to store the cosmic spaceship into the Plane Merchant’s space grid. The team members separately summoned their own mecha suits, agreeing to explore and scout in five different directions. After many years of training, they could handle the Insect Race alone, without the need for all five to act together, as that would only waste time and energy.

There were almost no secrets among Su Jiameng and Liang Xiaonuo’s group. The five mecha suits she cherished had been gradually revealed over the years, each time playing unexpected roles. Although she had other cards up her sleeve, she didn’t deliberately hide them, as there was no need to.

Given that the mysterious Insect Imperial might exist on this planet, Su Jiameng even brought out the Military Fortress, known as the firepower gun turret. Among the five mecha suits she used most frequently was the Military God, followed by Ghost Shadow. Fei Feng, with its world-class speed, was perfect for surprise attacks or escaping. As for the remaining, the known invincible sea warfare mecha [Sea God]—Poseidon, it rarely conflicted with the aquatic Insect Race due to terrain reasons, so it was seldom used.

The Military Fortress, which was her second least-used mecha, its combat power enough to overturn a small war! Its destructive power was second to none compared to the Military God. Since it was also a huge beast that consumed energy, she used it even less. However, in the current situation, the Military Fortress was obviously more likely to increase their chances than the Military God.

Su Jiameng reviewed the previous interstellar encyclopedic maps and knew that this planet was once a Level One planet, economically and technologically advanced, with a permanent population reaching more than three hundred billion. It was the technological and cultural center of this galaxy and also a sanctuary in the hearts of countless people.

However, with the outbreak of the Insect Race disaster, it eventually became a ruined planet where the Insect Race built their nest. The mottled and broken ruins were a testament to the planet’s former prosperity. Where the Insect Race resides, energy would be completely plundered. This planet showed signs of desolation everywhere, with unidentified plant remnants crawling across the ground, piling layer upon layer, like bones.

Su Jiameng activated the full speed of the Military Fortress, and the radar specially developed for the Insect Imperial flashed continuously, and the virtual screen was silent, which meant there was no trace of the Insect Imperial nearby! Her heart had been full of hope, but as time passed, it gradually turned into despair and irritation! She gripped the control stick more tightly, her knuckles turning white, her face pale.

The Military Fortress, when fully operational, was enormous—a gigantic moving war fortress. No one would doubt what terrifying scenes would unfold when it got angry. Su Jiameng suppressed the intense emotions roiling inside her, continuing to search for the faint hope.

Three days later, the five met at the agreed location. Liang Xiaonuo and others almost didn’t dare to see how dreadful her expression was.

”How did it go?” As soon as she spoke, the voice was so hoarse that it frightened her companions like sandpaper.

”No discovery...” Liang Xiaonuo bit her lip, avoiding eye contact with Su Jiameng’s hopeful eyes.

Her hands resting on her knees were clenched tight, neatly trimmed nails digging into her palms, leaving several deep white marks. Theo, Cui Hu, and Lu Anchen gave the same answer, but they were sure the Insect Imperial had paused here.

”Jiameng, don’t be so disheartened and disappointed. As we’ve searched all the way, we’ve noticed that the number of Insect Race is extremely low in the places we’ve passed, and most are minor Insect Soldiers. Even the Insect General is rare. I investigated, and this planet was one of the first to fall. It used to have several rich energy veins, along with a massive population base, meaning there should have been plenty of high-ranking members amongst the Insect Race.”

Theo picked up where Cui Hu left off, analyzing, ”The hierarchy within the Insect Race is clearly defined. Under such excellent conditions, there shouldn’t be a lack of high-ranking Insect Race. Yet, we haven’t seen a single one here. There must be something fishy going on.”
