From BOSS to Canon Fodder: She is Currently Out of Service!

Don’t be fooled by the fact that most of the Gu Family is serving in the Alliance Military Department at the moment. If someone were to offend their principles, they wouldn’t hesitate to purge the reign of traitors! On this point, the Gu Family and Su Jiameng are highly aligned in their thinking.

”Originally, I intended to purchase Clay Ore from you with equivalent Credit Points for preliminary research. However, upon thinking it over, considering the impact of the Insect Race’s strike on the Alliance, Credit Points might not remain unaffected. Compared to virtual currency, tangible assets are more reassuring. Go ahead, as long as what you’re doing doesn’t harm the Alliance, your Great Grandfather will fully support you!”

Some things cannot be bought even with Credit Points, and Gu Molin is no fool. What good are Credit Points in large amounts? In times of peace, perhaps they make you a wealthy tycoon, but during war and turmoil, they are continuously devalued.

Moreover, everything is virtual currency now; Credit Points are merely numbers. Back in the era of paper money, even though it might depreciate, at least it could be used as firewood. What use are a bunch of numbers?

Sticking to the philosophy of not letting his great-grandchildren suffer losses and having once led the Gu Family, what good thing could Gu Molin not know about? Naturally, he took it upon himself to instruct the two young boys on how to avoid losing out!

Gu Zhengye found it both amusing and exasperating. Doing this, how is it any different from taking money out of the left pocket and putting it into the right pocket?

Currently, there are only two children of the direct line in the great-grandchildren’s generation of the Gu Family. Even if Ningyi and Ningzhi have children in the future, their talents may not surpass those of the two children who have been through war. The Gu Family upholds the supremacy of the strong, and ten times out of ten, the inheritance will fall into the hands of these two children. Why make a fuss about this now? But whatever... Gu Zhengye muttered.

If they wish to be troublesome, let them be. Who would dare take advantage of such an unreasonable and positionless old man?

However... pondering with his chin in hand, Gu Zhengye realized that the Clay Ore used for experimentation could be paid for by the Gu Family. Once the situation becomes clearer, the Alliance should pay. He needed to think carefully about how to cut a little more deeply and draw more blood.

The Military Department has always been a big spender, but the salaries of the personnel are not very high. Since there are many active soldiers, most of the Credit Points allocated by the Alliance are used for weaponry upgrades and research projects. Hence, the Military Department is akin to a clean government office, with virtually no perks.

The Alliance’s Government Department is different; it’s incredibly wealthy. It’s possible that a small-time official in the Department of Finance could earn more in a year than a Marshal’s salary over several years. When the time comes for the Alliance to pay for Clay Ore, no mercy should be shown. If those who are so rich they can barely walk aren’t thoroughly fleeced, Gu Zhengye would indeed write his name backward!

As for choosing personnel to pioneer the star and mine the ore, as well as constructing various warehouse laboratories, these activities were conducted in secret.

The Gu Family still had enough strength as an established major power. But even close brothers keep careful accounts; apart from the labor, which was gifted to the two young boys, all the equipment was temporarily funded by the Gu Family. After extraction, payment would be made with equivalent Clay Ore.

”Great Grandfather, I really don’t know what kind of trick you’re pulling... leaving such an important matter to two kids.” In private, Gu Ningzhi looked at Gu Molin with some disagreement. ”I know you don’t want to take advantage of the two children, but you could delegate these tasks to other family members. All the profits would still go to the kids, it’s the same thing...”

Gu Molin contemplated, staring at Gu Ningzhi. After a long silence, he finally said, ”I suddenly feel like your intelligence truly has decreased significantly since you left the Gu Family. Didn’t you hear what that kid said before? Possessing treasures invites trouble. Do you think the kids could protect such enormous wealth without any power? Placing them directly on the fire, can’t even comprehend this much?”

Gu Ningzhi was speechless, naturally thinking of his eldest brother. As one of the last remaining Star Thief leaders, Gu Ningyi indeed possesses a strength that even the Alliance Military Department is wary of. Unless absolutely necessary, no one would provoke him.

Yet, if someone claimed Gu Ningyi possessed such precious items, even he might not be able to hold onto them, let alone the two children...

”So... are you intending to let them use this as practice, Great Grandfather?” Gu Ningzhi hadn’t expected that his great-grandfather, who had always prioritized the Alliance, would go so far as to cautiously consider matters for the sake of the two children.
