”It’s natural... If you become strong, maybe you can protect the people and things you want to protect, and there won’t be any regrets.” This is Little Bear Huaifeng’s answer. Limited by his age, these words were naturally not what he came up with, but were remembered by chance from watching an adapted TV drama before, ”Even if in the end you can’t save them, at least you won’t regret not having tried...”

Were it not for the harshness of the world, why would they need to mature so early? Gu Molin was surprised by Huaifeng’s answer, but his heart was mostly filled with sympathy, ”That’s a good answer. Since your conviction is so strong, just keep moving forward, great-grandfather will always support you.”

”Yeah!” The two children responded in unison, then Little Bear Huaifeng started pestering Gu Molin to tell stories of his military days when he was young. Truly born with a natural inclination towards fighting, deeply interested in such topics.

As the conversation continued, Gu Molin shifted the topic to the Insect Race, using cases from Qiming Star and Augustus Capital Star, ”If you were the upper echelons of the Alliance, facing unfamiliar creatures that could incite panic like these, what measures would you take?”

This question currently troubles many of the higher-ups, so asking two little ones is indeed somewhat challenging. But Gu Molin didn’t expect any answers, he just wanted to guide the two little ones to think about the problem, and perhaps hear the children’s perspectives.

Huaixi thought for a moment and said, ”I heard that the internet has already blocked the novels and adapted dramas mom wrote, because Adhesive Devouring Worms from the novel appeared on Qiming Star, a type of Insect Race that isn’t very strong but has astonishing destructive power. The appearance of Adhesive Devouring Worms might cause people secretly to speculate whether other fearsomely powerful Insect Races will also arrive, easily inciting panic...”

Gu Molin listened earnestly, while the voice was still innocent, it was already somewhat mature, bringing comfort to his heart.

”I know that once people panic, it can cause unpredictable impacts on various industries, serious enough to destroy the current prosperity. But... can problems truly be solved by constant concealment?” Huaixi frowned slightly, ”If everyone doesn’t know what the Insect Race is, and even naively believes they are just some weak insect, wouldn’t that be truly terrifying when the time comes?”

”Right, although the existence of the Insect Race can cause some panic, the Alliance government can guide the public. If they constantly conceal it, and the Insect Race invades on a large scale, that would be a real catastrophe, right? It might even be like that Capital Star, where there’s no time to escape...” Huaifeng mumbled, picking up the thread of conversation, ”In comparison, the upheaval is only temporary, but if because of carelessness you lose your life, that’s an irreplaceable loss... At least that’s what I think...”

Actually, Huaifeng had some more thoughts he hadn’t expressed; the novel his mom wrote was quite possibly to alert everyone, to tell others which Insect Races are dangerous and where their weaknesses lie, to reduce the fear and mystery about the Insect Race among the public.

However, these two were blocked, those who’ve read the novel or watched the drama are already internally frightened, and those who haven’t have exaggerated fears, making the people’s hearts restless and social atmosphere unstable.

After listening, Gu Molin remained silent for a moment; naturally, he had thought of these things, but the Alliance’s official considerations went a deeper level that wasn’t simply understood by two children.

Regarding their comments, Gu Molin neither agreed nor disagreed.

”And then? What’s your plan for these two already fallen stars?” Gu Molin asked a more challenging question. Huaixi and Huaifeng were both deep in thought, almost scratching their heads. But once they sorted out their thoughts, it was relatively easy to answer.

Huaifeng secretly thought about the data on Adhesive Devouring Worms, traced shapes into his palm, then said, ”According to the Insect Race’s usual characteristics, they won’t leave the place until they’ve absorbed all the energy, so the possibility of reclaiming these two stars is almost nonexistent. First, the difficulty is too high, second, the danger is too great, third... it’s also not worth the trouble.”

”So just leave them alone?” Gu Molin slightly raised his eyebrows, seemingly dissatisfied with Huaifeng’s answer.

”Naturally not. The Insect Race has a high evolutionary ability, if left unchecked, the result is raising tigers to one’s calamity. These two stars’ Insect Races must be cleared with the goal to prevent them from evolving in a more terrifying direction, rather than reclaiming the lost territory.” Huaifeng shook his head, trying hard to organize his words. Luckily, having watched many dramas, these words came out somewhat properly.

”What about you, Xiao Xi? Do you have any thoughts?” Gu Molin still didn’t offer much commentary, instead asked the always pondering Huaixi.

”The two stars have already been lost, handling it as Xiao Feng suggested seems good. However, the Insect Race doesn’t only consist of Adhesive Devouring Worms and Thousand Illusion Beasts. Their abilities are many and bizarre, once they explode on a large scale, the danger is very high. A single mistake means a star is lost. Therefore... in my opinion, every star inhabited by humans should strictly enhance interstellar travel checkpoints, striving to prevent the Insect Race from successfully invading. Otherwise, Qiming Star and Capital Star are precedents.”

Gu Molin’s eyes brightened a bit, then continued to ask, ”The Alliance’s current military strength is limited, defending and attacking both require manpower. Which star do you think should be cleared first, Qiming Star or the Capital Star?”

This time, the two little ones found themselves in a difficult position, which amused Gu Molin, ”Just say whatever comes to mind, do you need to be so reserved and timid in front of great-grandfather?”

”Adhesive Devouring Worms hold a low status within the Insect Race, even if they evolve, they can’t leave Qiming Star in the short term, so the danger isn’t great temporarily. But their reproduction ability is fast, if speed isn’t increased, you’ll probably have to wait for the Adhesive Devouring Worms to automatically withdraw from Qiming Star.”

In doing so, Qiming Star is thoroughly ruined. (To be continued. If you like this work, you’re welcome to go to Qidian (qidian.com) to vote for recommendation and monthly tickets. Your support is my greatest motivation. Mobile users, please read on m.qidian.com.)
