From BOSS to Canon Fodder: She is Currently Out of Service!

Of course, this isn’t really embroidery yet for Huaixi. He has only read some introductions online, and asked Changxi and Su Mo to help him prepare some threads of different colors, then drew pattern outlines on clean cloth and pondered on his own...

His mom discovered this little hobby of his a few days ago, and the next morning, she gifted him a very cherished and complete embroidery technique book. I don’t know how Mom got it, but its comprehensive records and theoretical knowledge are indeed much more reliable than those online.

However, the little guy doesn’t recognize many characters, and most of those obscure descriptions he can’t understand; he can only pick the parts he can comprehend to study. Mom once said that men also wore skirts in Ancient China during the Earth Era, so maybe they did embroidery too?

Based on this guess, the little guy doesn’t think there’s anything strange about his hobby at all. It’s definitely better than his younger brother messing around everywhere...

Huaixi recently started pondering over this because his mom’s birthday is coming up. Before, he didn’t have the ability to prepare any gifts, plus Mom was always disappearing, so he missed it. But this time is different; his mom said she would stay at home for half a month, just in time for a complete birthday... Huaixi wants to prepare a special and creative gift, thinking it over, embroidery seems pretty good.

Of course, one cannot expect a five-year-old little kid to have any skills or talent. He’s a bit confused about the stitching technique, only knowing to fill the blank patterns on the fabric with thread; the rest he doesn’t understand.

His short, plump fingers pinching a fine needle, with a serious expression on his face that made the little girl watching him dumbfounded. Without thinking, she blurted out, ”Little sister, you are really handy. When you grow up, you can definitely marry the best man in the world...”

On the surface, Huaixi was speechless, but inside he roared; he doesn’t need to marry, he will become the best man in the world when he grows up!

After a little while, the setting sun began to slowly sink below the horizon, and the light was already a bit dim, not good for the eyes to continue pondering over embroidery at this time. The little guy knew this well, so he packed up the needle and thread and put everything away in the small backpack slung over his shoulder.

”Little sister, are you leaving?” The little girl blinked, seeming a bit reluctant, her dirty little face full of longing, ”I’ll come here again tomorrow. Will little sister come? You look so beautiful when you’re serious~~~”

Huaixi still kept a straight face and took the initiative to ask, ”Where do you live? I’ll walk you home...”

Aunt Su Mo said that when boys and girls interact, they should maintain courtesy. If it’s time to go home, boys should take the initiative to escort the other to ensure her safety. Although this little sister was as noisy as a cicada in the summer, he was magnanimous and wouldn’t sweat it.

”Huh?” The little girl was stunned for a moment, then her eyes darted, ”Well... my home... my home is...”

Huaixi silently lowered his eyes, realizing that no matter where it was, it wouldn’t be in the same neighborhood, since he had never seen residents of this neighborhood dressed that way. He took out the folded flying disc from his small backpack and unfolded it. The disc was large enough for the two little ones to sit on. From the moment the disc appeared, the little girl’s eyes never moved...

”Is this... the kind of flying device only rich people can afford?” The little girl seemed to want to reach out and touch it but gave up halfway.

”My mom gave it to me. I’ll use it to take you home.” Huaixi stepped on the disc and then extended his hand, offering it to her, ”Come on up, tell me where your home is. The security in this neighborhood is very strict; if the security uncles catch us, our butts will be in trouble.”

The little girl hesitated for a moment, but eventually reached out her hand to him. When the flying disc started to take off, she stiffened, not daring to move at all. However, this tension quickly disappeared because it was her first time on a flying device, the novelty of it overcoming any fear or anxiety, and the bright black eyes began to shine again.

Under the little girl’s guidance, Huaixi’s frown grew deeper and deeper. The surroundings were completely unfamiliar to Huaixi. Along the way, the beautiful and tidy buildings gradually reduced, replaced by low and old residential houses.

”Almost there...” The little girl squinted her eyes with a smile as she saw her home getting closer.

Huaixi silently noted the journey from take-off to now, secretly puzzled. Why did this little sister come so far to his neighborhood? He was still a child who couldn’t hide anything, so he asked whatever questions he had.

The little girl exclaimed and then said, ”Didn’t I tell little sister? I heard that rich people live there... Sister Ju Zi told me if someone is willing to adopt me, I can go to school. If I perform well at school, I can even earn money to buy big houses, good food, and new clothes for Uncle and Sister Ju Zi...”

School? Huaixi tilted his head, seemingly recalling that there was only one school on Qiming Star, the Xilena First Affiliated School, covering elementary, middle, and high school levels. It attracts all the talented students from the Xilena Star System...

Here, attending school isn’t about having money, it’s talent first, studies second, and family wealth third. Huaixi couldn’t help feeling a bit helpless at the little girl’s simple mind. The wish was beautiful, but reality was harsh. He hoped she wouldn’t be too upset later.

Because the road ahead was too narrow, they had to give up on the flying disc and walk with their legs.

Huaixi kept a small distance behind the little girl, thinking of other things in his mind. This area consisted of old residential units either slated for demolition or abandoned for years... It seemed the little sister’s life was truly not great.

”I’m home...” The little girl was overjoyed, skipping and hopping toward a small alley at the corner. (To be continued.
