Chapter 71: Chapter 42: Her Past

After five years of recuperation, she returned to the Alliance, only to find that the person who had promised to marry her was already an Alliance Captain.

Ironically, at home, he had a gentle and kind wife, along with two obedient and adorable children. Faced with this reality, Su Jiameng was astonished to find that she felt no anger; instead, she was calm... an unprecedented calm, as if she never knew the man who married another woman and had children while she was on the brink of death.

The wife he married was a very ordinary woman, with a common background and average spiritual power, let alone any significant abilities, but she possessed an advantage Su Jiameng could never surpass—she could provide that man a stable family, something Su Jiameng could not offer.

When they met again after that mission, the first thing he said to her was, [I don’t want to worry about whether I can live to the next day while on a mission, and also have to worry about a wife elsewhere. I want a stable family, even if I die, my wife can live well with the children, Meng Meng, you can’t do this... You are a great woman who deserves a better man... So... I’m really sorry.]

And then what happened? Su Jiameng seemed like a drowning person, tightly clutching two restless eggs, lying on her back, looking at the ceiling with bitterness in her smile. She got so angry at his reasoning that, without a word, she grabbed his collar and started beating him!

She directly beat him into the critical care unit. If that guy had resisted a little, she might have felt somewhat comforted. Unfortunately, he never resisted from start to finish, allowing her to vent her frustration with reddened eyes.

When she saw his wife outside the emergency room, holding their two children and crying heartbrokenly with the unborn child in her belly, Su Jiameng increasingly felt like one of those vicious supporting characters in romance dramas. After this incident, she applied for a transfer to the front lines of the battlefield; even though the battlefield was full of crises, it was better than seeing this man one more time!

Unlucky in love, she found success in her career. She thought she would die quickly at the front line, but instead, she not only survived but became the youngest Lieutenant General in the Alliance. However, she worked too hard and paid no attention to her injuries, making Su Jiameng one of the rare ”monsters” in the Alliance. To avoid scaring others, she wrapped herself in bandages like a mummy for a long time.

It has to be mentioned that in the second year after she was promoted to Lieutenant General, the Insect Race changed their invasion strategy, focusing on attacking the prosperous human planets. In one year, four planets fell, and that man’s wife happened to be visiting relatives with their newborn son, and she died, leaving him only a pair of eight-year-old twins, a boy not even three years old, and the youngest son who perished in the Insect Race’s mouths...

[Being born in this era is itself a sin.] Su Jiameng, who used to be an ordinary woman in her past life with little experience of killing chickens, was forced into becoming a bloodthirsty Alliance Warrior in this Future Interstellar, a butcher who did not know what her future held.

The population of the four fallen planets was almost entirely consumed by the Insect Race. She participated in the rescue operations of three of them, yet rescued less than ten million people! But the fixed and floating population of each planet was at least billions! Su Jiameng hated her own weakness, having to watch those screams and wails echo towards the sky, resembling a human Hell.

If the her of that time had the strength in telekinesis she now possessed... Clenching her fist, Su Jiameng silently held the two eggs with her eyes turning red. If she had this level of telekinesis power back then, there wouldn’t have been so much sorrow; at least she wouldn’t have had to watch so many people die in front of her, powerless to do anything.

Just when Su Jiameng’s spiritual power was somewhat unstable, the beeping sound in her ear pulled her out of the swamp of memories. Raising her hand to see the smart brain, it was K3 and their message, ”Xiao Meng—it’s almost time for the match, don’t leave us hanging—”

Only then did Su Jiameng remember this business, wiping away the tears from the corners of her eyes, she sent a message, ”On my way.”

Logging into the virtual net, seeing the vast Star Sea beneath her feet, Su Jiameng suddenly recalled something, with a sarcastic smile at the corner of her mouth, realizing she had forgotten that this world was just a holographic online game in the eyes of many players called ”Star War.” Passing through the mirror-like water curtain, Su Jiameng appeared at the place where she had logged out before. Before her vision could clear up, Xu Na quickly came forward, punishingly rubbing her head with her fists, ”Xiao Meng, where did you go before, did you forget what day it is today... It’s driving me crazy.”
