Surviving The Fourth Calamity

Rolando glanced at Felis, whose heart was obviously unbalanced: ”Ah~ I didn’t expect you to look so much like me.”

He said lazily, ”A fleeting romance~ your mother wanted to disgrace the Hainarson Family, and I wanted a moment of indulgence. Having a child would be even better. After all, your mother is indeed a very suitable maternal body.”

Felis didn’t turn back, just let out a cold laugh: ”Don’t mention her.”

Rolando smiled slightly: ”Don’t always feel wronged. See, didn’t I give you the only potion that an Intermediate Apprentice can use?

Although this will extend your time as a High-level Apprentice, it’s not like there’s no chance of becoming a Mage.

Ha~

Even if I gave you more resources in the past, for you to become a High-level Apprentice, you’d probably have to endure for decades more.”

Felis said nonchalantly: ”That’s because only I am suitable, right?

If it weren’t for the issues on the Hainarson Family’s side, this potion wouldn’t have ended up in my mouth.”

Rolando couldn’t help but laugh: ”You’re already this big, how can you still say such silly things?

The real benefit lies in whose hands things end up in; the cause and effect don’t matter.

Take advantage and accept it graciously!”

Felis turned his head and returned a smile: ”That’s different... different.”

Rolando’s lips twitched slightly: this son of his really was quite like him, unwilling to suffer even a bit.

If it were him, working hard to acquire this potion for his child’s future, Felis ought to thank him profusely.

But if there were other motives mixed in, or if those motives were even more significant, Felis wouldn’t owe him anything in return.

Even if Felis indeed benefited from it.

Rolando couldn’t claim he did it for Felis’s good... He even thought this child could guess the potion’s instability.

After all, his other two children with Mage Aptitude were indeed closer to Felis and himself.

If this potion truly had no issues, Rolando would never waste a hard-to-come-by Magic Potion just to deal with the Hainarson Family.

Rolando indeed used Felis as an experiment.

Prutt provided him with a better Mental Power Potion... of course, on the condition that he troubles Gilbert.

Rolando didn’t have to think hard to know why Prutt found him among so many others... his son placed in the Hainarson Family certainly couldn’t be hidden from the higher-ups of the Tower of Dark Enigma, otherwise, West would be more useful.

Understanding Prutt’s purpose, Rolando naturally had to bring Felis back: fortunately, the Hainarson Family wasn’t willing to pay a fee for Felis to join the tower, otherwise, given this child’s shrewdness, whether he would follow was uncertain.

Ha~ Rolando could tell that the Hainarson family actually prepared two sets of resources, but after Russell met the requirements, they completely ignored Felis.

This made Felis, who initially thought he could become a Hainarson, very dissatisfied.

After all, Felis, who had already begun receiving Rolando’s resources by then, was the youngest among the Intermediate Apprentices, fitting within the range of paid trainees.

Although the Hainarson Family’s actions were understandable, being abandoned naturally makes a person directly abandon a family that first abandoned them when a better opportunity arises.

Rolando looked at Felis: the child’s thinking logic was quite normal, there was indeed a slight solidification and crystallization in his Mental Sea, but it wasn’t severe, and the crystals were clearly melting slowly.

This Mental Power Potion was indeed real.

Rubbing the ring on his hand, Rolando couldn’t help but stroke it twice: as a student of the Kamente Tower, the only benefit was the broad knowledge.

The Archmage was very familiar with potions and various Strange Objects and taught them a lot.

Rolando could still judge from the color and luster of the potion in his hand, and the faint waves it emitted, that it was indeed the same series as the one Felis took... only purer, with a stronger energy response.

Prutt said the only risk of this potion was possibly being forever just a Seven Rings, and Rolando somewhat believed it.

So what?

If he could become a Seven Rings on his own abilities, he wouldn’t be living this wretched life now!

Look at how Prutt lives, doesn’t he envy him?

The thought of his life at the Sia Tower being possibly not even half as good as it is now saddened Rolando quite a bit.

Unlike West, who only thought about grabbing a last chance!

Rolando firmly raised his head: ”Felis, you go and take a walk at the Hainarson Mansion, preferably be a guest at the Carpenter’s!”

Felis continued looking out the window, not turning: ”If I leave with you, and Ulrich still leaves my name at the Hainarson Mansion, the moment I appear at West’s place, asking specifically for Carpenter, Ulrich will delete my name from the family records.

I probably can’t even enter the front gate now... Do you want me to be turned away in front of all the passers-by?”

”Isn’t it said that the elders of the Hainarson Family have always had issues with Ulrich? Besides, hasn’t your Clan Leader always worried about Ulrich seizing power?” Rolando asked in surprise, ”Why do you think in this matter, they would all listen to Ulrich?”

”The Hainarson Family has always been very practical. On the day Ulrich became a Mage, it decided his unique, absolutely uncontested position in terms of family security.” Felis smiled softly, ”You target me because you discovered there aren’t as many Hainarson Family members willing to betray the family as you thought, nor are they as high-status as you imagined, right?

Even those somewhat involved in Ulrich’s father’s death won’t act unless they receive satisfactory benefits... Isn’t this what you couldn’t understand?

People who seem like they can be taken away with just one Gold Coin, in reality, at least cost ten thousand gold.”

Felis chuckled: ”Nobles are the creatures who know best what value means.

They are indeed dissatisfied with the family but won’t make themselves appear cheap.

When you buy someone back with one Gold Coin, of course, you’d be willing to discard them; but ten thousand gold?

Who would be willing until the last moment?

When seeing them, would the first thing you think of be a Hainarson Family traitor, or the ten thousand gold I spent?

If they don’t believe gold holds that value, they wouldn’t get involved in this matter, would they?”

”The Tower of Dark Enigma hasn’t interacted with such standard nobles as the Hainarson Family in a long time...” Rolando couldn’t help but lament, ”Unfortunately, at this stage, even those regretting their thoughts against the Hainarson Family can’t turn back.”

Felis’s eyes moved slightly: even?

”It seems, teacher is quite confident... but if you want to use my identity, please notify me in advance.” Felis said coldly, ”Otherwise, if my mother comes knocking, you can deal with it yourself, as I don’t want to be publicly reprimanded.”

Rolando released the right hand that had been tapping on his left arm and sighed: ”Why your mother won’t give up the little benefit from the Hainarson Family and return to her own family?

She has long separated from that guy without much affection, hasn’t she?

If she were willing to return... you... maybe...”

Felis straightened up: ”I have long told you, don’t ask me about her matters.

I am leaving first. If you still want to use me for anything at the Hainarson’s side, then I absolutely cannot leave the Magic Tower, otherwise, Ulrich might immediately rush over to expel me from the family publicly.

Ha~

Even if he were to point at my nose and call me a bastard, you wouldn’t stand up to retort on my behalf, would you?

Whoever dares to lay hands on Ulrich publicly doesn’t even need Gilbert to intervene... I have long known, the Mage assigned by Archmage Ruth to manage Dark Enigma Town values Ulrich’s safety most.

And you, you absolutely cannot beat them, ha~”

Felis turned to him and let out a few cold laughs, then just slammed the door and left.

”Your son raised outside looks quite full of resentment!” A lady leisurely walked out from the room behind Rolando, ”If he even resents his quite decent mother... you as a father...”

”No need to say these things.” Rolando pulled the Female Mage’s hand, ”He and I understand in our hearts, there is essentially no father-son relationship between us, just a little basis for interest exchange due to a bit of blood relation.

The one I value most is, of course, our own child... if it weren’t for his future, why would I be willing to listen to Prutt?

Don’t worry, as long as our child can become a High-level Apprentice, they will definitely become a student of the Archmage of Kamente Tower.

Ha~

Dear, of the three Tower Masters of the Tower of Dark Enigma, after going to the Sia Tower, only the Archmage of Kamente Tower can retain a little real power.

Prutt provided me with extremely important information.”
