Surviving The Fourth Calamity

Prutt instantly burned with anger.

But Gilbert only gave him a sofa chair ten meters away, so when Prutt looked up, he could only see that sharp jawline on the small platform.

If Gilbert wasn’t a mage, it would probably be hard to even look at him... Skin wrapped around bones shouldn’t be so smooth and tight.

Prutt’s arrogance faded.

This is someone he absolutely cannot make a move against.

He certainly knew about West’s predicament... Even though that guy was only a student of his Sixth Ring junior brother, he still held a certain status in their faction.

Certainly, he wouldn’t oppose Nicholson’s relative just for an Eleventh Level mage, but he also didn’t intend to add more enemies for West.

Unfortunately, Archmage Ruth was someone who valued face very much.

If he dared to do anything to Gilbert in the Side Tower, the archmage would fly back directly from the battlefield and crush his bones!

Even if his teacher would give him a hand for being one of the few remaining Seventh Ring students, their faction’s operations in the mid and lower tiers of the Magic Tower would likely be wiped out.

The already difficult path for West would surely break off completely.

Kamente Tower was originally a very indifferent person, being slightly nicer to him only because he was useful... But Prutt understood that if he really brought such a big trouble to Kamente Tower, even if he didn’t die, he’d probably be sent to find the Iron Dragon.

And it would be a mission where he couldn’t return home without success, having to fully cooperate with Sia Tower.

Isn’t that a death sentence?

Even the powerful mages in Sia Tower haven’t managed to control the Iron Dragon, and it was even successfully ambushed just a couple of days ago, sustaining injuries!

Although the injuries weren’t serious, barely a drop of blood was shed, just a bit of skin scraped.

But that one went into a rage, even shouting about peeling off that black dragon skin to stew a pot of dragon meat soup.

This is a statement of fighting to the death!

Whoever goes at such a time is seeking death?

Over there, Archmage Ruth simply avoided places crowded with Sia Tower mages!

Though it seemed only Nicholson, who suffered severe losses, was reluctant to give up, in reality, his teacher was always moving with the people from Sia Tower!

He had high status and strong capability, so staying by Kamente Tower’s side was still relatively safe... Moreover, their teacher had long been used to not remembering the existence of students, as long as he couldn’t see them, he wouldn’t have the notion to command them.

But the prerequisite is not seeing them!

When there were still quite a few people from the Tower of Dark Enigma, Prutt dared to mix in the crowd, but now when it’s easy to see at a glance who’s who, he surely needed to run.

Although this excuse is somewhat flimsy, their teacher’s only merit is having no interest in students’ affairs beyond magic learning... Of course, this is also his greatest flaw.

Having such a powerful mage as a teacher, yet even bullying based on one’s backing requires one’s own thick skin to withstand the scrutinizing gaze from outsiders, is truly hard to bear.

Anyway, after all these years, his skin has thickened, facing anyone, even though those two senior brothers cast venomous and incredulous looks at him, he’s safe, isn’t he?

He couldn’t hold back his temper just now because Gilbert used this matter to provoke him!

That guy must have guessed!

Prutt clenched his teeth tightly, silently made a fist... and suppressed the gloomy feeling.

”Gilbert, you’re always well-informed, can’t possibly not know what I mean, that tower over there, young mages are about to take over it lately. Haha!” Prutt let out an awkward laugh twice, ”Your family has birthed quite a beauty this time!”

Previously it was just apprentices causing a fuss, which could be ignored, but now... they are all mages, aren’t you worried...”

”What is there to worry about?” Hilbert impatiently interrupted him, ”If it’s something I don’t want to do, even getting Archmage Ruth involved won’t work!

Ha~

I don’t know who could have that skill.

I...

The siblings of Gilbert in his mouth, Prutt certainly understood.

He could only let out an obvious sigh, ”Gilbert, can’t you just listen to what gift I’m willing to offer?”

”I lack nothing, nothing at all.” Hilbert’s thin face put on a seriously surprised expression, ”You should understand, I just don’t want to use it, not that it can’t be found.”

If it really had benefits for Gilbert, Archmage Ruth might even let him purchase it on credit... Gilbert was very proficient in crafting Defensive Magic Arrays, a talent that is basically synonymous with money in this world, as long as he’s alive, he can definitely pay it back.

”But this is high-grade, high-purity Mental Potion from Sia Tower!” Prutt blurted out, ”If it weren’t for me... Ha~”

He slowly withdrew his words, pondered over his language for a while, then looked up at Gilbert, whose eyes were somewhat peculiar, and spoke a bit of truth, ”Master Kartmanta gave us each a bottle this time, hoping that one of us could advance to the Eighth Ring before entering Sia Tower.

I made some connections with the people in Sia Tower recently, and they are willing to sell me another bottle... After all, I can only drink one bottle if I want to advance.”

Hilbert shook his head, ”That stuff is no use to me, it doesn’t hold value for sacrificing my students either.”

”Aren’t you confident in recovering?” Prutt was genuinely surprised this time, ”Besides, what do you mean by sacrifice, my student is already a Three-Ring! Only 28 years old!”

”Everyone here is a mage, spare me the nonsense.” Hilbert’s cold gaze angled through the long hair by his cheek, ”Even if she of her own accord marries someone, any slightly judicious teacher would stop her, especially when having children before becoming an official mage equates to giving up her own path in life.

If still forced... she’d have to endure it on her own, but they’re just kids, not mature enough, how could they endure?

When you say things like that, consider that they are all Hainarsons!”

Prutt shook his head helplessly, ”You place too much importance on that family. What’s the point?

After staying in the Magic Tower for so long, haven’t you realized that only one’s self is the most important?

With this, after you recover, you can...”

”That kind of potion doesn’t work for me, considering you just didn’t understand, I’ll repeat once again.” Hill’s voice was softly carrying a cold edge, ”If you don’t get it, ask Archmage Kartmanta.

After repairing the Mental Sea, any Mental Power Potion must be avoided for at least a hundred years.”

Prutt was just about to speak again when it suddenly dawned on him, since his teacher could obtain such a potion, then surely Ruth could as well.

By that time, the entire Tower of Dark Enigma might have already transitioned into Sia Tower... If someone could offer it for sale to him, then certainly within Sia Tower, such potions were not extremely rare even for Eighth Ring mages.

Gilbert finding his teacher... Whether asking for it or buying it at a discount... could easily find similar resources, given his consistent behavior, he truly wouldn’t easily accept outsiders’ goodwill.

But... it’s just a female apprentice with fair potential.

The value of this potion is right there!

Even if Gilbert doesn’t use it, getting resources equivalent to training to Seven Rings from other Great Magic Towers would be easily exchanged!

Archmage Ruth’s treatment towards students is just okay, but providing such a vast amount of resources for free isn’t his style!

If not for wanting to find out the Hainarson family’s methods of purifying Mental Power, Prutt would never have been willing to offer such a precious potion?

Moreover, a girl who’s barely become a mage, what value does she hold that Gilbert could reject outright... in a situation where both of them secretly know the intent behind this exchange?

If it weren’t for the somewhat ambiguous relationships among the three Tower Masters at the Tower of Dark Enigma, Prutt wouldn’t have gone through such cumbersome methods to seek a deal with Gilbert?

Prutt felt he might have misjudged something, fortunately achieving one of the goals for coming here: Gilbert truly had confidence in his recovery.

His bottle of restorative potion was long secured, trusting solely in the potion’s quality would be naive... the method found by the Hainarson family’s child on Mental Power advancement indeed seemed to have some efficacy.

Prutt felt he should not easily give up, but to consider a way that could persuade Gilbert.

This guy is too rational, disliking exchanges of future benefits for current gains, really troublesome!
