Surviving The Fourth Calamity

Hill doesn’t think that Red Dragon would dare face Asmodeus head-on.

Being so arrogant, he must have learned somewhere that the Lord of Hell won’t be coming out anytime soon... And even though Asmodeus might not fully trust it, he would certainly keep Glaysia at his side, surely she must remain in the ninth layer of Hell as well.

Hill surmised the existences around the Lord of Hell... To keep this secret until now, there certainly aren’t many devils in Hell who know the news.

Even Court Steward Baalberith and Sheriff of the ninth layer of Hell, Martinot, likely wouldn’t get the news... These two are reliably loyal to Asmodeus, but their relationship with Bisozeya is somewhat ambiguous.

After all, when the Queen of Hell was killed at her own place, both of them survived.

However, in the devil’s concept, they truly follow the Lord of Hell, so they may battle to protect the Queen of Hell but would never choose to die for Bisozeya.

Therefore, although Asmodeus ignored them for a time afterward, given Bisozeya’s unpopular way of doing things, it’s hard for her to gain the loyalty of the powerful beings around the Lord of Hell. Looking at Hell, the Lord of Hell couldn’t find more suitable subordinates than them, under such circumstances, even these two returned to Asmodeus’ side after a thousand years of neglect.

However, the Lord of Hell would never trust them again over matters related to Bisozeya.

So... Fengo?

The Hell Prosecutor, although primarily responsible for managing the intelligence collection between the nine layers of Hell and other planes.

Of course, he used to focus mainly on collecting intelligence from other planes; the intelligence related to the Lord of Hell’s court was originally managed by the Court Steward.

But after Bisozeya had an accident, Fengo quickly destroyed Baalberith’s intelligence apparatus and ordered that all intelligence could only pass through his hands.

And Asmodeus not only accepted his approach but also directly suppressed those who tried to cause trouble.

This is the person the Lord of Hell trusts the most.

Moreover, if he is involved, then it’s understandable why the world controlled by the overly capricious Glaysia has so many strict rules... In fact, Hill has always been a bit puzzled; in such a world completely under her control, as the Succubus Queen, how could Glaysia not play her favorite game of manipulating emotions?

And she is truly obsessed with it, wanting to toy with human minds almost every moment... Who knows if it’s because of being forcibly divorced by Asmodeus, Glaysia enjoys breaking down souls that are steadfast and unyielding.

She doesn’t quite attack pure souls like other Great Devils; Glaysia prefers to make those who seem to have experienced everything and are calm and collected lose all their faith in the end.

So, in Toril, the hatred between Tyr’s Righteous Knights and the Succubus Queen cannot be resolved; many strong Legendary Knights have indeed lost the chance to return to Tyr’s Divine Kingdom because of Glaysia.

But Asmodeus reining in his daughter is merely to make her understand that losing his support means she is nothing... The Lord of Hell gave her enough time to flee from his side and even let her send a cry for help to her husband, Duke Minos Mamon.

However, when Glaysia was powerless, she only got the news that Mamon quickly remarried.

The rebellious Glaysia nearly collapsed... She was even willing not to investigate Mamon, who might have been involved in her mother’s assassination, for the sake of so-called love, but the other side was afraid of Asmodeus seeking retribution.

After receiving hints from the Lord of Hell that as long as he no longer had ties with Glaysia, he would be left alone, Mamon didn’t hesitate a bit.

Honestly, Hill has always felt that Glaysia might have inherited more from the angelic side of Asmodeus... Bisozeya’s nature, as a Hell’s Aboriginal, is much more cold and brutal.

A child growing up in the nine layers of hell would believe in the sweet words of the Duke of Hell!

However, this is also inseparable from Asmodeus’ excessive protection of his wife and daughter, so when he realized something was wrong, he directly cast his daughter into the harsh reality.

Just a bit too far, Glaysia later went completely mad.

In Hell, only a madman who can control their emotions with intellect can live a bit better, so Asmodeus instead began to empower her... For instance, the sixth layer of Hell belonging to the Duchess Ghostwoman, the smallest and most barren Marboge, was directly given to Glaysia by Asmodeus.

Hill dares to launch into this world now is also related to both of them being certainly unable to get away and constantly monitoring this world.

Marboge, managed by the Duchess Ghostwoman for so many years, isn’t so easy to deal with... When Succubus and Witch fight, even if Glaysia is strong enough, her subordinates aren’t so easy to mobilize.

Succubuses can use their charm to control some powerful beings, but Witches can create powerful beings themselves!

And those who aren’t afraid of death.

Succubus’ men can’t achieve that.

Hill couldn’t help but knock on the small table beside him: But if Fengo is always there to remind Glaysia, concerning major matters like her mom’s resurrection in this world, it can override her reckless nature.

After all, even though Bisozeya doesn’t smile at Asmodeus, she is very good to her daughter.

In Glaysia’s heart, her beautiful life indeed became this mess because of her mom’s sudden disappearance.

Hill blinked.

The news from the Styx River was undoubtedly more informed than him, which explained why the Red Dragon made such a dramatic appearance.

Fengo despised unexpected events.

He liked to use detailed intelligence to make plans, and if anything unexpected cropped up, the Hell Prosecutor would directly remove the anomaly and set things back on track.

And this Iron Dragon, which appeared via the Styx River, must have been an unexpected event... Given the skill of that Red Dragon, he must have impersonated this Iron Dragon, which should have existed in this area for a long time.

It’s even possible that he had arranged for this Iron Dragon to be here all along.

Iron Dragons, after all, are creatures that can sleep a great deal. As long as there’s enough iron in their lairs, it’s normal for them not to appear for hundreds of years.

Hill believed that if investigated, even if Asmodeus himself came, he would only discover a small gap in the blockage of the Styx River... small enough for a rabbit-sized Iron Dragon to pass through.

And with the mages of this world constantly summoning meteors, this could easily attract an Iron Dragon, sensitive to such things.

Iron Dragons are usually well-behaved, but their urge to possess iron is in their very bones.

In other worlds, even if the mages couldn’t kill an Ancient Iron Dragon, they could at least drive it away... However, there’s no ”what if.”

If chaos is to be avoided, Fengo has to act himself.

Heh~ The attributes of the Iron Dragon and the Red Dragon are completely opposite.

Especially Fengo, who loves to brandish an alloy whip, going against an Ancient Red Dragon skilled in trapping Iron Dragons. Hill felt that the show crafted by the Styx River would be quite a spectacle.

Though it’s said that the independent consciousness of the Styx River isn’t as clear as the Abyssal Will, Hill suddenly found the Styx River’s consciousness more intriguing.

It might just be too fluid due to so many tributaries, showing little response.

But once it takes notice, it certainly has its own style.

How wonderful~

With a slight slip by Asmodeus, even before he gets to see his beloved wife resurrected, his most loyal subordinate might be gone.

Hill didn’t believe the Styx River was orchestrating such a play just to create chaos.

Perhaps it wanted to give Asmodeus a profound lesson?

Hill couldn’t help but smile... The Styx River surely didn’t care if souls were enticed into Hell, but it absolutely wouldn’t accept its own souls being stolen.

Not bad.

With such a powerful temporary ally, Hill could handle things with ease.

With the sudden departure of a large number of Mid-High Rank Mages, the Tower of Dark Enigma suddenly became quiet.

Sometimes Russell would look out the window, feeling a sense of desolation.

He couldn’t understand why, when the ones outside were mostly apprentices before, normal mages appeared now and then, but the Magic Tower seemed so... deserted after the high-level mages left.

However, Carpenter just curled his lips in a mocking smile when hearing Russell’s doubts, saying, ”Brother Russell, children without adults at home should stay inside. Don’t you get it?”

Russell couldn’t help frowning, ”Because I don’t go out?”

Carpenter’s mouth twitched, ”Brother Russell, have you been practicing spells too much lately, so your brain isn’t working?”

Russell dejectedly rested his head against the window, ”What can I say? Even my rest time is planned so thoroughly.”

Though his relationship with Carpenter was quite good, there was really no need to schedule their rest times together every day... Such precision just gave Russell the creeps.

He really felt as if Master Gilbert even knew how long each of his hairs was.
