My Youth Began With Him

As Huo Siqian walked alone to the service station, Huo Mian and Su Yu were left in the car.

“Mian, are you hungry?”

“Not really.”

“Don’t worry. We’ll have food in a while. I used to hate instant noodles, but now if someone gives me a bowl of steaming instant noodles, I’d eat the bowl itself with the noodles.”

“Haha.”

To relieve the tension, Su Yu tried to make Huo Mian laugh and she was very cooperative and laughed.

“To be honest, I didn’t think I’d make out alive…”

“Stop it. I told you we’d be fine.” Huo Mian comforted Su Yu.

“After I disappeared, my mom must have become mad with anxiety, right?”

“Yeah. Auntie was devastated. Grandpa Su and your father are very anxious. And An…”

“The fellow An, haha, must be stupefied.”

“An blamed himself for not doing his duty to protect you.”

“It’s not his fault. That night, if An was with me, we’d be both kidnapped. Besides, An is useless to them and might have been killed by that bitch Zhao Qingya long ago.”

“Yeah. I told him this, but he won’t stop feeling guilty unless you’re home safe.”

“Yeah.” Su Yu nodded.

“Another person has been devastated after you disappeared,” Huo Mian started the topic purposefully.

“Who?” Su Yu was puzzled.

“Yao.”

“Oh, you mean Han Yueyao?” Su Yu remembered the girl.

“Yeah. I didn’t tell her the truth and said you were on a business trip. But she didn’t believe me and kept sending WeChat messages to you.”

“The girl is afraid no one’s going to pay her now that I’m gone. The girl is a little money-lover.” Su Yu chuckled.

“You know she’s not like that. She’s just worried about you.”

“I’m fine now. I wonder how the girl is doing in the contest.” Su Yu remembered the reality show.

“The final is in a couple of days. She is hoping you can go back and watch it.”

“If I can go back, I’ll watch it. After all, she’s my employee.”

“Su Yu, don’t you feel anything…”

Before she could finish, they saw Huo Siqian beckon at them.

“Well. It seems the place is safe. Let’s go and get something to eat.”

Carefully, Su Yu helped Huo Mian out of the car and they walked slowly toward the service station.

“Su Yu, I feel something’s not right,” Huo Mian whispered as she walked.

“What’s it?”

“I don’t know. I just feel this place is creepy… Let’s go and find another place to eat.”

Huo Mian glanced around and saw nothing but mountains.

It was a remote place with no people in sight.

Even though it was the morning, the fog surrounded them and blocked the sunlight.

In this big mountain, they could hear birds chirping or sounds of small animals, but everything was creepily quiet. Huo Mian had a feeling that something wasn’t right, but she couldn’t name it.

Hearing her words, Su Yu was surprised.

“Mian, this is the nearest service station. If we don’t get gas, we can’t get far… Huo Siqian checked the map and saw the next service station is 6 hours away… To dodge those people, we decided not to stop in a town; it’s easy for them to track us down in a small town. We have to hide in a relatively big city.”

Hearing his analysis, Huo Mian fell silent and moved forward with Su Yu step by step.

However, she felt more and more uneasy, feeling something bad was going to happen.
