Endless Winter: My Camp Upgrades Infinitely

Chapter 1617: Chapter 509: War Breaks Out in Baimu City (Part 2)

The death of Han Yue was essentially a punishment for his incompetence in military affairs over the past six months.

Thinking of his wife’s painful and grinning face before her death, Tie Xinchuan turned his head to look at the Beishuo Army emerging massively from Baimu City to the south, clutching the big saber in his hand tightly, with fire almost blazing in his pupils.

“Flag Commander, step forward! Everyone, draw your bows ready for battle!”

Rustle…

As the command was given by Xia Chuan from above the army, a five-man flag task force swiftly ran out from the seven armies, while the rest all simultaneously took down their strong bows, nocked arrows, drew strings, aiming towards the direction of the Beishuo Army.

“Chen Cang’s aid hasn’t arrived, yet they dare to launch an attack. Lu Yang really gave me a big surprise…”

In mid-air, Xia Chuan looked at the Beishuo Army quickly marching out of the city, although his face showed no expression, his tone was filled with unbelievable incredulity.

Standing right behind him, Xu Ning solemnly said, “Could it be that Cai Qiu secretly sent men over? The three armies from Yuan Cheng, Luo Yuan, Yuwen Dao haven’t moved yet, the number of Xianyang Level from Cai Qiu there is quite many, maybe they’ll send part of them to assist here.”

Xia Chuan had an idea whether people from the two vassal towns came or not.

The reason is simple, the Bone-Eroding Path and Jiuqu Blood Corridor are currently being controlled by Great Xia, although they have no capability to prevent the two vassal towns from sending people over, monitoring if and how many people came, is not a problem.

At the start of the war, he and Yuwen Dao had deployed a large number of Cold Resistance Level secretly monitoring near the northern parts of Dongchuan and Jinyang cities, which are close to Jiuqu Blood Corridor and Bone-Eroding Path, so when Cai Qiu’s group of over a hundred Xianyang Level arrived, Yuwen Dao received the information immediately and quickly informed the other three armies.

As for Dongchuan City over there, no information has come through, which naturally indicates that Chen Cang hasn’t sent anyone over yet.

“Cai Qiu willing to send people to aid Beishuo is unfathomable to me…”

Xia Chuan directly denied Xu Ning’s speculation, there’s friction between Chen Cang and Cai Qiu two vassal towns, unlikely to collaborate seamlessly.

He pondered for a moment, shaking his head with a smile continued, “Beishuo has never yielded to Great Xia, with Yang Zhun returning from Chen Cang, they probably feel qualified to clash head-on with us, plus considering Lu Yang’s ten thousand troops as a killer move, choosing to launch an attack out of the city isn’t overly far-fetched!”

After finishing, a smile appeared on Xia Chuan’s face as he looked down at the assembled Beishuo Army outside the city with a hint of disdain in his pupils.

“That’s fine, a mere Baimu City isn’t much, let Yang Family’s three brothers see for themselves the gap between Beishuo and my Great Xia!”

Once finished, Xia Chuan took a deep breath, focused his energy in his throat, and called out to the ground below seriously, “Drum, the entire army advances two hundred steps, prepare to release the arrows!”

The position where Xia Army camped is 500 meters away from Baimu City, the seven armies completely spread out their formation, closing in by about 100 meters, advancing another two hundred steps, which approximates to closing the gap by 150 meters, so if the opponent doesn’t move, the two armies’ distance would be roughly 200 meters, just within the limits of effective range for bows and crossbows.

Step… Step… Step…

Upon Xia Chuan’s command, the Seven Armies Commander immediately followed up with orders, all soldiers kept the posture of drawing bows and nocking arrows, starting to move forward slowly akin to a steel torrent.

It was indeed slow moving, based on the frequency of steps one could hear striking upon the ground, yet with over thirty thousand people advancing simultaneously, no matter how slow, the momentum was incredibly astounding.

“The whole army draw bows, prepare to shoot!”

Once Xia Army moved, up in the skies above Beishuo Army, Yang Jian also began issuing commands, ten thousand Beishuo elite paired with fifteen thousand Beishuo Town Defense Army all drew bows and nocked arrows, aiming at Xia Army opposite.

Step… Step… Step…

Xia Army did not slow down even with Beishuo Army’s movements, they continued advancing quickly, completing 200 steps in no time.

“Xia Chuan, you…”

“Fire!”

Yang Jian seemed to want to give an opening speech, but unfortunately, Xia Chuan didn’t give the opportunity.

Whoosh whoosh whoosh…

Once the command to fire was given, Great Xia’s Seven Armies directly sent out the first wave of arrow rain.

“Fire!”

Though Yang Jian’s expression was somewhat unpleasant, his reaction was quick, following right after Xia Chuan with the order, both almost synchronized.

Whoosh whoosh whoosh…

Two waves of arrow rain, no, instead of calling them arrow rains, they were more like two dark arrow curtains, directly charging towards the opponent’s military formation.

Boom…

The quantity of arrows fired by both sides was immense, the arrowheads stirring the airflow within a radius of several hundred meters, producing sounds not of sharp screeches but resembling air explosions.

Buzz!

The two arrow curtains fiercely collided mid-air, despite knocking away two to three tenths of arrows, more arrows still broke through the flow, shooting towards the opponent’s frontline formation.

Clang… Clang…

200 meters distance shooting, without walls for cover, neither side erected shields, clearly both had strong confidence in their soldiers’ armors.

The results fully proved their confidence was justified.

Arrows carrying powerful force shot onto the foremost soldiers, instantly sparking countless flames, those in the frontline on both sides did not retreat in the slightest.

“Beishuo elite, all wearing Hundred Forged Silver Armor, after nearly a century of heritage, their foundation is indeed deep…”

Seeing the frontline Beishuo soldiers clad in silver armor, Xia Chuan’s pupils revealed a trace of amazement, although Great Xia’s base is rather decent today, the majority of soldiers are still equipped with Thousand Forged Iron Armor mixed with Thunder Kui’s Skull.

There is silver armor but currently only Cloud Dragon Army, Long Wu, and recently established Dragon Forbidden Captain have those three armies’ soldiers equipped.

It’s worth noting, these three armies combined amount to only 11,000 people whereas Beishuo Army has a full 20,000.

“Cloud Dragon Army, Dragon Forbidden Captain, abandon bows and advance! The remaining five armies alternate shooting, cover the flanks!”

Xia Chuan threw away irrelevant thoughts from his mind, issuing the second order directly.

Boom…

Cloud Dragon Army’s five thousand men, along with Dragon Forbidden Captain’s thousand men, a total of six thousand simultaneously released their vitality, shaking the entire battlefield in an instant.

“Follow me, kill the enemy!”

Cloud Dragon Army Commander Liu Yuan roared loudly, drawing the big saber at his waist, having Xianyang level cultivation without Sky Control, standing at Cloud Dragon Army’s forefront, leading the charge directly.

“Charge…”

Five thousand Cloud Dragon Army soldiers donning Lei Kui Golden Armor slightly lowered their heads, followed behind Liu Yuan, like fierce tigers hunting, akin to mountains rolling, covering over ten meters in an instant, roaring and bellowing, charging towards Beishuo Army.

“Beishuo Army, follow me to defend, everyone else continues shooting!”

Facing Xia Army’s crush, Yang Jian showed no sign of panic, violently swung the long spear in his hand, roared fiercely while lowering his head, then transformed into a strong light, charging straight at Liu Yuan on the ground.

The shooting level of bows and crossbows equipped by Xia Army and Beishuo Garrison in Baimu City was evidently equally powerful, and the armor worn by Beishuo Army also not differing much from Cloud Dragon Army, so bows and crossbows lost significance here.

With bows and crossbows losing effectiveness, direct confrontation becomes inevitable.

“First Camp, Second Camp abandon bows, attack from left and right; Third, Fourth, Fifth Camps continue shooting, keep shooting if not called!”

In the midst of shooting, soldiers from First and Second Camps, upon hearing orders from above given by Xia Chuan, immediately placed down their bows, drew weapons, raised shields, respectively charged towards Beishuo Army from left and right.

The remaining fifteen thousand soldiers from the three camps continued shooting arrows at Beishuo Army without any movement.

Boom…

The long spear thrust towards him, despite knowing it’s Yang Jian, Liu Yuan’s face showed no trace of fear, he didn’t even attempt to block, instead focusing only on the fastest charging Xianyang level general from Beishuo’s side ahead, holding double knives, his eyesight like lightning, rotating his long saber around his body, directly slashing at that person.

Clang…

Just when Yang Jian’s spear was less than five meters from Liu Yuan’s face, a black blade suddenly blocked in front of Liu Yuan.

“Yang the Third, your opponent is me!”

Two armies clashing, the first engagement must be among the strongest.

How could Xia Chuan sit by and watch Yang Jian deal with Liu Yuan?

Liu Yuan also knew well that Yang Jian wasn’t his opponent, thus he had the confidence to make no hindering moves and solely focus on the enemy’s Xianyang level general wielding double knives.

As Xia Chuan and Yang Jian engaged, Liu Yuan led Cloud Dragon Army in a fierce clash with Beishuo Army, lightning striking and fire igniting, the largest battle in Southern Slope Territory’s history erupted just like that.
