Endless Winter: My Camp Upgrades Infinitely

Chapter 1609: Chapter 506: Coordinated Attack, Taking Zhongyang with Wit (Part 2)

He had been paying attention to the situation around the entrance to the Southwest Mountain Road for a long time. Seeing the camp filled with panicked crowds everywhere, his eyes flickered briefly as he quickly formulated a plan.

After some arrangement, Han Li and six other junior disciples looked at him, full of admiration on their faces, and swiftly led a team to run towards the surroundings of the mountain road entrance.

Lu Yun did not leave but continued to stare at the battle situation at the mountain road entrance.

In fact, Xiao Yuan, the commander of the Xiao Mountain Army, was not the fiercest one charging.

There was another middle-aged man in plain clothes wielding a knife, positioned even further ahead, almost having slaughtered his way into the middle of the Beishuo Defense Army, and even faintly showing signs of being surrounded.

This middle-aged man’s appearance resembled Xiao Yuan by thirty percent, but his strength was even more terrifying; with each swing of his knife, he could take away several lives of Beisuo Soldiers, and the Thousand Forged Armor seemed as fragile as paper under his blade, serving no protective purpose at all.

“Xiao Mountain Army’s former commander, Treasure Tower’s vice building master Xiao Kangcheng, Lord Xiao!”

Lu Yun was naturally not unfamiliar with the high-level figures of Great Xia. He recognized Xiao Kangcheng at a glance, seeing the enemy being defeated repeatedly by him alone. An obviously Xianyang-Level cultivator among the enemy, a middle-aged man, was being beaten back into the rear formation, full of yearning on his face.

“Lord Xiao was promoted to Sixth-rank Zidian Marquis last year. After this battle, his noble title will surely rise by at least two ranks. A real man should be like this!”

Thinking of the benefits of noble titles, Lu Yun’s eyes were full of desire. He had joined Great Xia not long ago and had made some contributions, but due to the lack of warfare, he was still far from the required 500 Military Merit for a noble title.

This time was a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity!

“The enemy has broken in, quickly escape from the Southwest Mountain Road…”

“Hurry up and run! The Xia Army has come in to slaughter the town; if you don’t run, you’ll lose your life.”

“Run quickly, there aren’t many enemies on the Southwest Mountain Road, we can still escape!”

……

As he pondered, a series of chaotic noises suddenly came from behind.

Lu Yun turned his head to look and immediately revealed a smile.

The camp was already ablaze, providing high visibility. Under the flames, thousands of people from all directions were swarming towards the mountain road entrance, panic on their faces. A few were yelling and running from the mountain road entrance to flee for their lives.

“It’s over!”

Seeing the converging crowds, Lu Yun was naturally overjoyed, while Duan Heyang, who was responsible for guarding the mountain road entrance, was filled with despair.

Only slightly more than three hundred Xia Army soldiers had truly rushed into the mountain road entrance, and it was clear that they were all elite. It was normal for the Defensive Army to be unable to resist and show some signs of collapse.

As for not being able to overcome Xiao Kangcheng, that was already anticipated. He had only broken through to the Xianyang-Level two months ago, and Yang Qin had him guard the mountain road, relying primarily on the 2,000 Beishuo Town Defense Army.

Using the narrow mountain road entrance, they managed to hold off the Xia Army for nearly an hour, and the fires inside the camp hadn’t caused any disturbances on this side of the mountain road.

But now, it wasn’t working!

Seeing the large crowd rushing towards the mountain road, Duan Heyang naturally knew it was the work of spies who had infiltrated the camp. He wasn’t afraid of the massive crowd but of those spies hidden among them.

“All of you stop! Don’t approach the mountain road!”

Duan Heyang blocked another slash from Xiao Kangcheng’s knife, ignoring the abnormal sound of his arm bones, and turned his head angrily shouting toward the area behind him.

“The Xia Army has already slaughtered into the camp! If we don’t run to the mountain road, where else can we go?”

“Don’t listen to him. The only way to escape is through the mountain road.”

“When even survival is uncertain, why listen to that nonsense? Brothers, if you want to live, charge out with me.”

……

The fear brought by death eventually overcame everything.

The Central Yang Camp is one of the seven camps directly under the jurisdiction of Beishuo, except for the town itself.

Duan Heyang’s status and Xianyang-Level strength were well known to many, but at this moment, with instigation from those with intentions, everyone directly ignored his warning, roaring and rushing towards the mountain road.

This charge threw the area around the mountain road entrance into instant chaos.

It was true that only a few hundred Xia Army soldiers had rushed in, yet this few hundred elites, under the leadership of Xiao Kangcheng and Xiao Yuan, created an extremely terrifying impact, pushing almost a hundred meters in and with more Xia Army soldiers following, almost visibly pouring in.

The defending army, initially still having unused space behind them to maneuver with the Xia Army, was doomed once this massive crowd arrived.

“Bang…”

“Don’t block the way!”

“They’re killing people; the Defense Army is killing people.”

“There’re spies mixed in with the crowd, be careful!”

……

As the crowd mingled with the soldiers, chaos erupted instantly.

Some soldiers, trying to avoid the Xia Army’s impact ahead, accidentally dodged and knocked ordinary people flying; others, wanting space to maneuver, directly attacked common people; some heartless ones even dragged ordinary people as shields…

Of course, most deadly were Lu Yun and his companions.

Pfft…

Lu Yun mingled in the crowd, slowly approaching a Beisuo Soldier. Once he was less than two meters away, he swiftly raised his sleeve, revealing a broken knife that shot straight towards the soldier’s neck.

“Um, um…”

The soldier clutched his neck, his pupils filled with terror and confusion; he had no idea who had attacked him, and could only instinctively wave his knife around. Unfortunately, only a few swings led to his life severing and falling down.
