Forcing Me to Be a Godly Tycoon, Right?

Chapter 308: Chapter 169: Delivering the Cheongsam to Her Company (Subscribe for the Long Chapter)

When Zhang Jingdong arrived at the office on the second floor, Chen Hui and Ning Hao had been waiting for about five minutes.

”Sorry, I had something come up at the last minute and I’m late!”

Chen Hui quickly stood up: ”We’ve just come back ourselves. After receiving your call, I informed Director Ning, and afterwards, he took the initiative to visit our company’s nearby advertising shoot and offered quite a few suggestions.”

”Is that so...”

Zhang Jingdong gestured with his hand for them to sit while turning his head to look at Ning Hao: ”Director Ning is impressive indeed. But since we’re about to sign and become one family, I won’t thank you!”

Ning Hao immediately showed a humble expression: ”Boss, please don’t say that, it’s my obligation.”

Seeing how tactful Ning Hao was, Zhang Jingdong immediately said to Chen Hui: ”Is the contract ready?”

”It’s ready. Please take a look and see if there is anything that needs to be deleted or changed...”

Chen Hui said as he stood up and passed the folder he had at hand to Zhang Jingdong.

Zhang Jingdong took it, reviewed a few key pages, and then said: ”Apart from the director’s fee of 500,000 for each movie, add another clause to give him 3% of the box office revenue share.”

Upon hearing this, Ning Hao was instantly a bit overwhelmed.

Because he knew that although box office revenue share is very popular abroad, currently in China, only a few top-tier directors like Feng Xiaogang and Zhang Yimou receive such treatment.

And he was just a new director starting out, although his work had won awards, he had never proven himself at the box office.

Having been offered a director’s fee of 500,000 per movie by Zhang Jingdong, he already felt incredibly fortunate, yet now Zhang Jingdong was even offering him a share of the box office revenue, which was really more than he could handle.

Therefore, he sincerely said: ”Boss, thank you for your generous support, but I...”

Zhang Jingdong waved his hand directly: ”I know what you’re going to say, but I hope you also understand my real intention.”

”This box office revenue share might sound mystical, but in fact, if the movie you make reaches a box office of 10 million, the share is only 300,000.”

”For our current national box office level, 10 million is already quite a decent result, so even without offering you the revenue share, under such circumstances, I would definitely at least give you a bonus of 300,000 or 500,000!”

”And if the box office of your movie reaches one billion, then your share would be 30 million, which far exceeds your director’s fee. And this is the real starting point for me proposing the box office share.”

Saying this, Zhang Jingdong stood up and went over to personally pour a cup of tea for Ning Hao, continuing: ”I’m someone who doesn’t take people lightly, but once I truly value someone, I’m willing to place a big bet on them.”

”Although your film ’Incense’ was a bit rough, I saw in it your storytelling ability, so I believe that if you were to make a commercial film in the future, you will certainly have potential!”

”As the boss, of course, I could wait until your second film, your third film, or even until you’ve proven yourself at the box office before giving you a share of the revenue, but in my view, that wouldn’t reflect my regard and expectation for you.”

”So, student Ning Hao, stop fretting over this money. Whatever investment you need, I will provide, and whatever people you require, Mr. Chen will also help coordinate. You only need to remember one thing, and that is to give it your all to make a good movie!”

”How about it, do you understand?”

Ning Hao has always loved watching the ’Romance of the Three Kingdoms’ since he was a child; at this moment, he suddenly felt as if, after experiencing hardships, he had finally met his enlightened ruler!

Not long ago, he was still running around the country, in front of those so-called wealthy people with mixed reputations, acting all sorts of subservient roles, and in the end, they all used bizarre excuses to kick him out.

At that time, he felt his life was grim, and he even considered switching to business.

Now, Zhang Jingdong is ready to invest and provide him with people, and he is even offering such a good personal treatment.

To be honest, if not for his old friend Chen Hui’s repeated assurances, he would sometimes even think Zhang Jingdong was a fraudster.

But now, after hearing Zhang Jingdong’s words, he truly felt an urge akin to ’If a monarch treats me with honor of a national scholar, I must repay him as one would expect of a national scholar.’

”Boss, I understand, I’ll follow your instructions, I will definitely give my all to make a good movie!”

Zhang Jingdong, seeing the future great director completely ignited by his words, immediately nodded with satisfaction: ”That’s more like it... Mr. Chen, go amend the contract.”

Chen Hui was obviously a bit excited at this point: ”Yes, I’ll do it right now!”

With that said, he got up and left the office.

Zhang Jingdong then sat directly across Ning Hao on the sofa, pouring himself a cup of tea and taking a sip.

”Like this, you stay in Jiangdu for the next period, get a good script ready, and I’ll help give you some advice then.”

Ning Hao hesitated for a moment, then said: ”Boss, actually, I’ve brought two scripts with me this time, one for an art film, the other for a commercial film.”

”Last night after I went back, I revised this commercial film script again. Would you like to take a look?”

Zhang Jingdong’s interest was piqued: ”Great, I knew you had something in store.”

Ning Hao then opened the backpack by his side and took out a script that had been prepared in advance, handing it over to Zhang Jingdong.

Zhang Jingdong received it and just glanced at the cover before he almost couldn’t help but chuckle.

On it were boldly written the words ”Big Diamond”!

This script was actually written by Ning Hao when he was studying at the Yanjing Film Academy; at that time, it was even staged as a drama by the students from the neighboring academy, and the performance was very well-received.
