Three Systems Made the Fake Heiress Unstoppable

Chapter 117: Chapter 117: Drugging Chloe York

Brooke York forced a smile. ”No, Chloe, why would you think that? Look, we’ll just wait for you right here, okay?”

Chloe York nodded and left. Brooke York and Alice Cole watched until Chloe York disappeared around the corner.

”Brooke, you don’t think Chloe York saw through it, do you?” Alice Cole was doubtful. Brooke York had only told her about this plan this morning.

Time was tight, so she didn’t know if there were any flaws in it.

”There’s an eighty percent chance she saw through it,” Brooke York speculated.

Hearing that it was eighty percent, Alice Cole was shocked. ”What! Then why is she still being so cooperative?”

”She probably wants to see what kind of tricks we’re playing. That’s why one method alone won’t work—we need a two-pronged attack.” Based on Chloe’s recent behavior, Brooke York knew that a single approach wouldn’t be enough. A second plan quickly formed in her mind. With both plans in place, she refused to believe Chloe York could still take the college entrance exam smoothly.

”What do you mean?”

Brooke York beckoned Alice Cole closer and whispered a few words in her ear. Alice Cole’s eyes lit up.

”Brooke, you truly are my daughter. So clever!” Alice Cole praised after hearing Brooke York’s idea.

’Hmph, now let’s see how Chloe York is going to take this exam.’

This time, Chloe York was gone for about twenty minutes before she returned.

When she was away, Brooke York and Alice Cole had suspected she might have run off. They breathed a sigh of relief when they saw her come back.

”It took a little longer than I expected to pack. Sorry to keep you waiting!”

”No problem. You got everything packed? Didn’t leave anything behind, right? Especially your exam admission ticket and ID card—you have to bring those. The college entrance exam is tomorrow!” Brooke York reminded Chloe York, deliberately playing the part of a caring sister.

”Nope, I’ve got it all! It’s in my bag, don’t worry!”

As Chloe York spoke, she patted her bag.

”Alright then, let’s go. Dad must be getting antsy waiting for us.”

”Okay!”

Chloe got into the car with Brooke York and Alice Cole, and the vehicle headed toward the York Family’s estate.

Soon, the car stopped in front of the York Family villa. After getting out and looking at the mansion before her, Chloe York knew this was it. She would either make Brooke York so scared that she’d never dare to mess with her again, or she would drive her to become even more frantic.

But whether it ended in fear or frenzy, she had to try. Otherwise, Brooke would just keep coming up with new ways to target her.

”Chloe, let’s go!”

As they stepped into the villa, Miles York, who was reading the newspaper, heard the commotion. He looked up, and his eyes lit up when he saw Chloe York. ”Chloe! Ah, you’re back!”

The moment Miles York saw Chloe York, he was clearly overjoyed, and also quite surprised that she had returned.

”Dad, I knew you missed Chloe, so since we’re going to the exam site together tomorrow anyway, I thought I’d bring her back tonight. That way, we can head over together in the morning.”

Hearing Brooke York’s words, Miles York’s first reaction was that this was a classic case of protesting one’s innocence too much. Brooke York was saying this deliberately to convince him, or perhaps Chloe, that she wouldn’t pull any tricks before the exam.

If, before the exam, Chloe failed to attend due to some ”unforeseeable circumstances,” it would have nothing to do with Brooke York. After all, she had established the persona of someone who really wanted to go to the exam site with Chloe.

Miles York hadn’t expected Brooke York to have become this way, even using him in her schemes.

’But it doesn’t matter,’ he thought. ’I’ll keep a close eye on Brooke York and Alice Cole and make sure Chloe York gets to her exam without a hitch.’

”The cook must be done with dinner by now. Let’s eat first!”

”Chloe, give your bag to the maid. She’ll take it upstairs for you.”

”Alright!” Chloe York took off her bag. Brooke York smoothly took it and handed it to a maid, saying, ”Put this in Chloe’s old room.”

”Yes, ma’am!” The maid took the bag and headed upstairs. Miles York glanced at the maid and then gave the butler a look. The butler immediately understood.

While everyone was heading to the dining room, the butler followed her. Just as he reached the doorway, he saw the maid put the bag down and leave.

”Butler, is something wrong?” The maid was startled when she turned and saw him in the doorway.

”It’s nothing! Just head out now that you’ve put the bag down.”

”Yes, sir!” The maid left the room, and the butler closed the door behind her. He glanced at the nearby security camera. ’Well,’ he thought, ’looks like I’ll have to keep an eye on the monitor whenever no one is in this room.’

The four of them sat at the dining table. Miles York took the head of the table, with Brooke York and Alice Cole on one side, and Chloe York alone on the other.

”Chloe, the exam is tomorrow. Eat more!” Miles York said, placing some food on Chloe York’s plate.

”You don’t have to serve me, I can get it myself.” Chloe York didn’t like it when people put food on her plate, especially with chopsticks they had already used. ’Besides,’ she thought, ’Miles York isn’t even my biological father. Why does he have such poor boundaries?’

”Alright, I won’t serve you then.”

The meal was a little strange, yet not entirely so. In any case, Chloe York focused on eating. She knew Brooke York and Alice Cole wouldn’t make their move so quickly.

After dinner, the group sat in the living room and watched TV for a while before heading to their rooms one by one to rest.

Chloe York returned to the room she used to live in. It looked mostly the same as before, but she could still tell some things were different.

For instance, the floor was dirty, and some items were messier than she left them. The whole room gave off the feeling that it had been hastily arranged to mimic its previous layout.

The broad strokes were correct, but some of the smaller details had clearly been altered.

That night, at eleven o’clock, all the lights in the York Family villa went out...

「The next day」

The moment her phone alarm rang, Chloe York woke up and stretched comfortably.

After washing up, she grabbed her bag and went downstairs.

At the top of the stairs, she happened to run into Brooke York, who was also wearing a backpack and ready for the exam.

”Chloe, morning!”

”Morning!”

The two of them walked downstairs together. At the bottom, only Alice Cole was there.

”You’re up! Come down and have some breakfast!”

”Oh, it’s milk today, not soy milk. Chloe, drinking lots of milk is good for you! I hope we both get good scores today.”

”Thanks!” After sitting down, Chloe York picked up the glass of milk and began to drink it slowly.

Seeing Chloe York drink the milk, the corner of Brooke York’s mouth curved up in a barely perceptible smile.

’That’s right, drink up, Chloe York. You’ll be shitting it all out soon enough, anyway.’

”By the way, where’s Dad?” Chloe York asked. She hadn’t seen Miles York since she woke up.

”He’s still resting, but he should be up by now. Don’t worry, Brooke hasn’t left yet either. It’s still early, no need to rush. Your dad can drive you to the exam site in no time.”

Chloe York nodded and said no more. After finishing the glass of milk, she also ate a good amount of food. ’It’d be a waste not to eat,’ she reasoned. If she didn’t eat here, she’d be heading straight to the exam site with no other chance to grab a bite.

Seeing that Chloe York was nearly full and still showing no reaction, Brooke York began to wonder. ’Could the drug be a fake?’

But soon enough, she would find out why Chloe York wasn’t having any reaction.
