Three Systems Made the Fake Heiress Unstoppable

Chapter 101: Chapter 101: She’s Waiting for Her to Become a Laughingstock

The students all chuckled, but the laughter was brief. They quickly fell silent, watching the teacher prepare to hand out the exams.

In truth, they were all quite nervous. Only Chloe York knew they were all just characters in a book; they themselves had no idea.

So, they did care about their grades. But whenever the main characters were involved, it was as if they lost all independent thought. They just felt an inexplicable urge to show their support and take a side.

The homeroom teacher wasn’t handing them out in order of score, but simply by the stack’s order. Some got high scores, some got low scores. Because he was doing it this way, no one could be sure what they had gotten.

”Brooke York, 89.”

As Mr. Parker announced Brooke York’s score, a murmur went through the classroom. Aside from the class monitor, Henry Ford, who had just gotten a 93, everyone else had been in the 70s, low 80s, or around 85. This was the first relatively high score they’d heard in a while.

This was the third mock exam, so everyone had a good idea of where they’d stand on the actual college entrance exam. And with scores like Henry Ford’s and Brooke York’s, their final results were bound to be excellent.

While everyone else envied Brooke York for scoring so high, she herself wasn’t happy at all. She had been aiming for a 95, not an 89. She hadn’t even broken 90! ’Compared to the first mock exam, I’ve fallen so far behind!’

She took her exam, but before she could even make it back to her seat, the homeroom teacher was already calling out the next one.

”Chloe York, 96!”

The moment he said it, the students’ gasps were several times louder than before. Even Brooke York froze mid-step, staring at Mr. Parker in disbelief.

’I must have misheard. How is that possible? How could Chloe York possibly score a 96?’

It wasn’t just Brooke York. After the initial shock, the other students couldn’t help but start whispering.

”Oh my god, a 96! I didn’t mishear that, did I? Chloe actually got a 96!!!”

”This feels so surreal. Is this even the same world I know?”

”Even the class monitor only got a 93! A 96... isn’t that almost the top score in the entire grade?”

Hearing the students’ astonished murmurs, Mr. Parker adjusted his glasses. ”You’re not mistaken. This time, Chloe scored a 96. In the English rankings for the grade, she’s third. First place was a 99, and second was a 97. Chloe was just one point behind second place.”

Brooke York’s grip on her exam paper tightened. ’How? How could this be happening? Why have her grades improved so quickly?’

”Chloe, you’re incredible! A 96? And third in the grade? I feel like I’m dreaming! Is this really you?” Stella Winters was also completely stunned.

She had no idea how her best friend had suddenly become so brilliant. ’Is this still my best friend? Or has she been possessed?’

Chloe York, who already knew she’d scored over 95, wasn’t very shocked at all. ”It’s not a dream. It’s real!”

With that, Chloe York stood up, walked to the podium, and accepted the exam from Mr. Parker with both hands. ”Thank you, sir!”

”Chloe, this is very good,” Mr. Parker said. ”But you need to keep working hard. Try to raise your score another two or three points on the final exam. You should know that a few points don’t change your rank much within our school, but when you factor in all the other students taking the exam, a single point can drop your ranking significantly.”

Mr. Parker was urging her on. He had high hopes for Chloe York and felt her final exam score would be excellent, which was why he needed to remind her to keep up the effort.

”I know, sir!” ’Of course, I know,’ she thought. While a single point might not mean much in class, on the day of the college entrance exam, she’d be competing against countless other students. Never mind one point; even half a point could make a huge difference in the rankings.

That’s why on the final exam, you had to fight for every single point, even every half-point. Not a single one could be wasted.

”Good.”

Mr. Parker was gratified to see that his words had sunk in.

He continued handing out the exams. Seeing Chloe York return to her desk, Brooke York finally went back to her own seat as well.

Staring at her own exam, at the big red X’s marking her mistakes, she grew more and more agitated, wishing she could just rip the paper to shreds.

Clara Bell, sitting beside her, didn’t dare make a sound. She didn’t have to guess; she knew Brooke York was in a terrible mood. If she dared to say anything, she’d just become Brooke’s punching bag and get an earful. She wasn’t that stupid.

Still, seeing the conspicuous ”89” on Brooke York’s paper and then glancing at her own ”79,” she didn’t feel quite so bad. ’There’s not much of a difference between us, anyway,’ she thought.

Meanwhile, Henry Ford stared at the 93 on his own paper, a bitter feeling in his heart. He never thought he’d be surpassed by someone who used to get scores of zero or one—and by three whole points at that.

’Just how did Chloe York’s grades improve so quickly?’ Henry Ford’s gaze, full of suspicion, fell upon her.

Soon, Mr. Parker had handed out all the English exams. Besides Chloe York’s 96 and Henry Ford’s 93, there were two students with a 91, five with a 90, and the rest were all below 90.

”For those of you who didn’t do so well this time, don’t be discouraged. This is just the third mock exam, after all. You still have one month—30 days. If you all work hard for these next 30 days, maybe a miracle will happen on the final exam. Your score could suddenly jump by dozens of points. We have a living proof of that right here in our class, don’t we!”

The students nodded. Indeed. Students from other classes, or even the underclassmen, might not believe it, but they, her own classmates, had to. This rare phenomenon had happened right in their own classroom.

”So, as long as you’re willing to work hard, I believe every one of you can get a good score and get into a good university!”

After Mr. Parker finished speaking—and since his words were meant to encourage them all—everyone broke into applause. ”Mr. Parker’s right!”

”This time, each subject teacher will hand out their own exams. I’ve already seen your overall scores, and some students have genuinely slipped. I’m sure those of you who have fallen behind know who you are. Whether you continue on this path or start working hard now... that’s up to you.”

Without looking at anyone in particular, Mr. Parker finished his speech and began to go over the exam.

But Brooke York knew Mr. Parker was talking about her. Who else in the entire class had seen their score drop so severely—and continue to drop?

’How could I not know this homeroom teacher doesn’t like me?’ she thought bitterly. ’It’s just that now he sees Chloe York’s grades are good and thinks she has a better chance of becoming the top scorer, so he’s ignoring me.’

She refused to believe Chloe York could do this well in every subject. ’I’ll just wait and see her make a fool of herself!’
