Prodigal System in the Flourishing City

Chapter 179: Chapter 179: Young Master, What Do You Want to Do? [Please Bookmark, Please Recommend]

Li Jin and Zhang Meng were sparring half playfully, half seriously when Liang Lan returned from outside.

Lu Xiaobu seemed to do nothing every day, but in fact, he had delegated all his responsibilities to Liang Lan, who then reported back to him for final confirmation.

”Young Master, all the major video sites want to buy the rights to ’A Chinese Odyssey’. Here’s the price they’re offering. Do you want to take a look?” Liang Lan said, holding a spreadsheet.

”Oh, how much?”

Lu Xiaobu asked casually, as he laid his head on Liang Lan’s lap, sniffing her fragrance with a chuckle—comfortable!

Seeing Young Master behaving like this, Liang Lan couldn’t help but smile bitterly and said, ”They are offering about the same price. If it’s exclusive rights, the price is around eighty million. Non-exclusive is fifty million.”

”That little?” Lu Xiaobu frowned.

Young Master, that’s already a lot,” Liang Lan hurriedly explained. ”I remember a foreign Hollywood blockbuster that was well received in our country and made over a billion at the box office, ’Blood Battle’. The exclusive online rights sold for only forty million, but we’re getting fifty million for non-exclusive rights.”

That’s the market price for online rights nowadays. Once it’s online, piracy is inevitable, and so the risk for websites is high.

”So, you’re saying the price is alright?”

Lu Xiaobu stroked his chin.

”Yes.”

Liang Lan nodded affirmatively.

It’s not just alright, it’s actually the highest price so far!

”Then let’s sell it.”

Lu Xiaobu stretched lazily: ”Forget about exclusivity, let’s just do non-exclusive. Otherwise, how many subscriptions does one have to buy? It’s really uncomfortable.”

”Uh...”

Liang Lan was speechless, okay!

Young Master, if those video sites heard you, wouldn’t they want to throttle you?

But of course, they wouldn’t dare to.

Liang Lan picked up the phone and informed the various video sites of the Young Master’s decision!

This one phone call, pure profit—three hundred million!

Even though Liang Lan had been handling everything about ’A Chinese Odyssey’, thinking back, it still seemed incredible to her.

Keep in mind, that the initial investment in ’A Chinese Odyssey’ was only ten million!

But now?

After all sorts of expenses were accounted for, it made over a hundred and fifty times that amount!

That is to say, Young Master currently has over 1.5 billion in funds at his disposal!

And that’s just for now. You should know that the popularity of ’A Chinese Odyssey’ in cinemas is still sky-high.

Lu Xiaobu was asleep.

”Host, host, I’ve got something to tell you.”

The system suddenly spoke up.

”What’s up? Is the account out of money again?”

Lu Xiaobu frowned and said, ”I’ll top it up in a bit.”

”Not that, although, it indeed is out of money!” the system said with an embarrassed laugh. ”You have no idea, there’s this female streamer dancing, and man, oh man—so exhilarating!”

”You bloody...” Lu Xiaobu was speechless: ”Stop messing around, get to the point. You always get sidetracked by girls.”

”Oh, right, I almost forgot.” The system also knew it had acted carelessly and hurriedly continued, ”I’ve been kind of bored recently and want to play LOL. Let’s get that sorted.”

”LOL? Sure, I’ve been wanting to play too.”

Lu Xiaobu’s interest was piqued, and he sat up all at once.

”Right?”

The system was pleased with having a host that suited its taste. That sense of dominating the host, could it be more comfortable than it is now?

Even if, sometimes, this host is quite a handful.

”But I don’t have anything.” Lu Xiaobu glanced at the wasteful amount: ”Just now I used Dragon Capturing Hand and there went one hundred million.”

”That’s simple, you go buy a company first, right. Meanwhile, I’ll prepare the data, everything you need,” the system whispered as if stealing something: ”Once you’ve bought the company, you’ll have your wasteful amount back, and then... you just draw a prize, and I’ll give you what you need!”

This strategy is called crossing the ocean by a trick, getting something out of nothing!

”Oh?!” Lu Xiaobu raised an eyebrow: ”Heh, you’re quite scheming, aren’t you?”

”Hehehe, all thanks to the host’s support!” the system also chuckled.

”Right, while you’re at it, prepare a suitable Cultivation Method for Zhang Meng. He seems a bit off,” Lu Xiaobu continued.

”No problem, leave it to me. I’ll get it sorted out beautifully and prepare the most suitable Cultivation Method for him,” the system assured him.

”Not bad, not bad.”

””

Lu Xiaobu chuckled—he was pleased with the system.

”Mutual, mutual!”

The system chuckled too—this host is awesome!

Luckily, their exchange was conducted telepathically.

Otherwise, if others saw their sleazy smiles, they might think they were involved in some shady transaction.

Of course, it’s pretty much a transaction now!

Liang Lan was arranging things for the internet rights of ”A Chinese Odyssey” when she suddenly saw Lu Xiaobu’s sleazy smile.

She shivered from head to toe.

”Oh my god, Young Master, you... you... you... what are you planning to do?” Liang Lan asked, somewhat scared.

”I sure am.” Lu Xiaobu nodded.

”Huh?” Liang Lan was stunned.

Then...

Whoosh—

Her pretty face instantly blushed.

This Young Master, so annoying!

He strikes a conversation and switches to driving immediately!

”Let’s go, gather everyone for a trip overseas,” said Lu Xiaobu as he stretched.

”Huh? Overseas?”

Liang Lan was baffled, what’s this new act about?

Why all of a sudden decide to go abroad?

Lu Xiaobu stretched and didn’t explain.

He was going to find an overseas gaming company to develop LOL.

It’s not that it couldn’t be done in China.

But he wanted to recreate an authentic LOL.

If produced domestically, due to cultural and conceptual differences, some aspects might not be perfect.

Therefore, he wanted to purchase a foreign game company.

”Alright, I’ll get ready,” said Liang Lan, seeing that Lu Xiaobu wouldn’t explain and not pressing further, she started preparing the documents.

However, while getting ready, she encountered an issue.

That was Zhang Meng, having a military background as a Special Soldier instructor, a staff officer—wasn’t free to go abroad even after retirement.

Fortunately, Li Jin was just a regular Special Soldier and didn’t have this issue.

”Li Jin, after going overseas, you must ensure the Young Master’s safety, got it?” Zhang Meng sternly instructed Li Jin upon hearing the news.

”Yes, sir!”

Li Jin snapped a salute, his strength now surpassing Zhang Meng’s, but the instructor was still the instructor.

”Zhang Meng, protect my parents at home,” Lu Xiaobu instructed.

”Yes, Young Master!” Zhang Meng immediately took the order.

Lu Xiaobu and the others embarked on their journey cheerfully.

After Lu Xiaobu left, Zhang Meng’s face finally showed an ugly expression that was neither crying nor laughing; he fiercely punched the wall next to him.

While the Young Master was around, he dared not show his emotions and had to force a smile, even goofing around with Li Jin. All because he didn’t want the Young Master to be upset.

But now that the Young Master was gone, he could no longer repress his feelings!

Today, for the first time, he felt so useless!

Ever since that moment at the phone shop when he called out Young Master, he had sworn that his life, his beliefs, would all be for the Young Master!

But now!

Li Jin had become stronger than him, and the Young Master was stronger than Li Jin!

Now he couldn’t even leave the country!

Does he even need to exist?

Zhang Meng, this man of steel, had red eyes!

No, I must become stronger! Stronger!

At all costs!
