Prodigal System in the Flourishing City

Chapter 152: Chapter 152 Becoming a God [Extra Chapter 1 for Bo Wen]

The next day, countless people, either with the mentality of watching for free because it’s a waste not to watch, or with the mindset of solving a puzzle, or even those who had watched it once yesterday and wanted to watch it again today, flooded into the cinemas.

The screenings in the morning were not too many.

But the midnight sessions, packed, still packed!

Every auditorium was filled to the brim!

The audience, some laughed loudly, some cried bitterly, and some remained silent.

Everyone felt differently.

And every time they watched it again, they would have a different feeling!

Once, twice, three times!

The sporadic bursts of laughter that sometimes came from the screening rooms would have been annoying in other movies.

However...

Here, there wasn’t any, those who understood or were somewhat confused all showed an envious look towards those laughing heartily.

They were once like that too!

...

What followed was that online movie reviews became increasingly bizarre!

Still the three categories: comedy, tragedy, incomprehensible, no need for elaboration!

These three were almost neck and neck; every category had its supporters.

But with these conflicting reviews, they didn’t start feuding among themselves; very harmonious!

And when some netizens asked some veteran critics to review the movie.

This is how they responded.

”Sorry, I can’t comment!”

”I can’t review this film because any comment would be an insult!”

”Thanks for the invite, but sorry, this is a film that can’t be surpassed, just go watch it yourself! My review is meaningless!”

”Watch it a few more times, after you’ve seen it more than three times, you’ll understand what we mean!”

”...”

As increasingly bizarre online opinions surfaced.

The mere 10 million invested ”A Chinese Odyssey” saw its box office surge dramatically!

One hundred million...

Two hundred million...

Three hundred million...

...

And the cinemas that had previously scheduled ”A Chinese Odyssey” during off-peak times and in smaller theatres, started frantically adjusting.

The rate of scheduling soared, some cinemas even reached fifty percent of screening times, all during prime time!

But even then, tickets were hard to come by!

Because many people just stayed in the cinema without leaving, going directly from the first show to the last!

Cinemas received countless complaints every day, demanding them to increase the number of screenings.

The major cinemas were at their wits’ end.

This is already the maximum, if it goes any higher, the screening rate for other movies would be zero!

Conversely, ”Youthful Frenzy” saw a severe drop in box office sales!

From 190 million on the first day to just 50 million the next day, and it continued to decline!

At this rate, they dare not say whether their 480 million investment in ”Youthful Frenzy” would break even!

The distributors of ”Youthful Frenzy” panicked!

”What the hell? What’s going on? Why would such a crappy movie do this? Someone tell me!”

”Damn it, it must be Lu Xiaobu pulling strings behind the scenes! He’s loaded!”

”We won’t accept this! Keep ramping up the publicity!”

”...”

A new round of publicity for ”Youthful Frenzy” began!

Even the male and female stars personally joined in.

But, it had no effect!

It remained the same!

”Youthful Frenzy” continued to slide!

”A Chinese Odyssey” continued to soar!

Finally, someone spoke the truth online!

”Enough, stop the damn publicity, if it weren’t for my girlfriend forcing me, I damn well wouldn’t watch it! Now with ’A Chinese Odyssey’, my girlfriend doesn’t even watch your crappy movie, finally I can speak the truth!”

”Exactly, damn all the photoshop, are you treating us like fools?”

”This is a movie? No plot, no acting, full of sloppy photoshop and you still have the nerve to rip us off?”

”We’re just being tolerant, otherwise we would have ditched you long ago!”

”Go to hell!”

”My goddess, let me tell you something, if you keep promoting that crappy movie, I’m turning from a fan to a hater!”

”Same here!”

”+1”

”+10086!”

”...”

Comments like these were countless!

Under such tremendous pressure.

The celebrities didn’t dare to speak up anymore, they could see their fans were serious!

Is a star without fans still a star?

No, not at all!

The distributor of ”Youthful Frenzy” was furious!

Are they kidding?

A movie that’s free for one viewing actually outperformed theirs at the box office?

Are the viewers insane?

Why watch ”A Chinese Odyssey” over and over again rather than their movie?!

They couldn’t accept it!

So, they all got made up and went to the cinema to watch ”A Chinese Odyssey”!

Well, that day they didn’t come out of the cinema!

Even they had to admit defeat!

As distributors, they might stubbornly refuse to admit it, but as viewers...

They were convinced!

Completely convinced!

Now, ”A Chinese Odyssey” has firmly established its divine status!

No one can deny it!

No one can disapprove of it!

...

”Young Master Bu, we won! We really won! You’re so awesome!”

Chen Feiyang was as excited as a child, hopping and jumping while on the phone!

”Alright, alright, got it.”

Lu Xiaobu responded indifferently: ”It was bound to happen!”

”Young Master Bu, I’m telling you, I’m going to win an award! It’s all thanks to you, Young Master Bu!”

Chen Feiyang couldn’t contain his excitement and kept on babbling.

”Aren’t you annoying?”

Lu Xiaobu hung up the phone directly: ”Really, how old are you, acting like a kid, is it necessary?”

”Um...”

Liang Lan and the others were speechless!

Young Master!

Is it really not necessary?

A movie that straightforwardly achieves divine status!

It’s natural for Director Chen Feiyang to be excited!

And you, just hanging up the phone!

Sigh! Well, we don’t understand your methods anyway!

”Young Master, how did you know for sure it would be a hit?”

Liang Lan asked with sparkling eyes.

She was convinced, once again convinced.

Young Master’s decisions are always so wildly imaginative, yet so unfathomably brilliant!

Amazing!

”Yes, Xiaobu, you’re so incredible! Did you always know we would definitely win?”

Wu Qianmin was also full of admiration.

This lady was completely convinced by Lu Xiaobu.

”Stinky Xiaobu! You just wouldn’t tell me, right! I’ve been cursed at for days!”

Zhou Jingyuan gritted her teeth and said.

She’d been arguing online with people and getting harshly insulted every day!

”Want to know?”

Lu Xiaobu laughed nonchalantly!

”Yes!”

The three ladies nodded simultaneously, eagerly waiting for Lu Xiaobu to enlighten them.

”Well, tonight, whoever serves my bed, I’ll tell her.”

Lu Xiaobu smirked.

”Hmph!”

The three ladies immediately turned away: ”Ignoring you! Annoying!”

”Don’t! How about a kiss?”

Lu Xiaobu hastily backpedaled!

The three ladies got up and walked away!

”Stop, stop, a hand will also do! It will do!”

Lu Xiaobu retreated again!

The three ladies completely left!

”Ah, these women! Their thirst for knowledge is just not strong! Unwilling to make any effort!”

Lu Xiaobu sighed.

And then...

That night!

The door to Lu Xiaobu’s room was quietly opened!

Sss!
