Prodigal System in the Flourishing City

Chapter 64: Chapter 64: Locking the Eunuch Author in the Dark Room [Please Favorite, Please Recommend]

Lu Xiaobu, who is at home, can only sleep until the sun is high and read novels to pass the time.

But what vexes him is that after reading the novels in this world, he sleeps even better!

They are all Divine Books with hypnotic effects!

Truly freaking magical!

”Sister Lan, aren’t there any good novels? These novels are more sleep-inducing than a teacher’s lecture.”

Lu Xiaobu woke up for the twenty-eighth time on Liang Lan’s lap, feeling utterly dejected.

”I think they are okay,” Liang Lan responded after a glance, ”These are all top-ranked novels with high reviews!”

”High reviews, my foot. Take ’Cangtian Road’, for instance! The protagonist goes through so much trouble to find his parents’ killer! Logically, seeing the enemy should flare up rage, just kill with one knife stroke!”

”Instead, he spends ten thousand words explaining why he kills him! From social ethics to legal morals! Elaborately written, it’s like an epic masterpiece! Really freaking bored?”

Lu Xiaobu rolls his eyes and speaks.

”Since the top-ranked ones don’t work, how about Young Master try some that are unpopular? Maybe they suit your taste?”

Liang Lan pondered the content of the novels based on Young Master Bu’s remark; indeed, her liver felt a touch of pain.

So all she could do was make a suggestion.

”Good idea.”

Lu Xiaobu’s eyes brightened, and he immediately scrolled to the bottom.

He went to find those books with the least comments and filled with scolding.

He indeed found something worthwhile.

This time he learned to read the comments first.

And finally, Lu Xiaobu found one.

”City’s Strongest God’s System”

The comments below were as follows:

”Trash author, what the f*** is this?”

”What kind of society is this, killing people randomly? Annihilating their families? Do you think the police are for decoration?”

”No wonder you flopped.”

”...”

Liang Lan looked at these comments and shook her head.

Although she generally doesn’t read novels targeted at males, anyone seeing these comments would lose interest.

Of course, except Young Master Bu.

”Just looking at these comments, it seems like a good book.”

Lu Xiaobu rubbed his hands excitedly and opened the book.

While reading, he commented:

”Nice, exhilarating, just like this, look at me and I kill your whole family, reward an Alliance Hierarch.”

One Alliance Hierarch, one thousand bucks!

”Good, kill this scoundrel, and reward another Alliance Hierarch.”

Two Alliance Hierarchs, two thousand bucks!

”You touch my brother, I’ll chop off your limbs, well done, reward another Alliance Hierarch.”

Three Alliance Hierarchs, three thousand bucks!

...

Liang Lan smiled bitterly on the side—They just read a few Chapters, and he had already rewarded eighteen Alliance Hierarchs.

Even confinement couldn’t stop Young Master’s wasteful actions.

”Holy crap! It’s gone?” Lu Xiaobu suddenly sat up, ”It was just getting to the crucial part, why did it end abruptly?”

Liang Lan immediately checked.

She saw the title of the latest Chapter.

”The book is indefinitely discontinued.”

Below it, a few short sentences, yet they conveyed endless hardship.

’Sorry, I don’t know how many people, or even if anyone, will read this Chapter.

But if someone does, all I can say is sorry.

I, really can’t bear it anymore!’

Reading this comment, Liang Lan understood. She sighed, ”Forget it, Young Master, read another book. This author also hasn’t had it easy; to have written up to now despite no income and even being cursed, he’s already a very persistent person.”

”No way, I want to read this one.” Lu Xiaobu pouted, ”Zhang Meng.”

”Here.”

”I want you to find this author’s address and bring him to me.”

”We still have an empty villa, right? Rename it ’The Dark Room.’”

”Then lock this abrupt-ending author in there to write.”

Lu Xiaobu waved his hand and gave the order.

How many readers on Earth have wanted to do this?

Today, he would act on behalf of the heavens and lock that eunuch author in a dark room to write novels.

”Yes!” Zhang Meng twitched the corner of his mouth, having no choice but to follow the order.

Liang Lan looked helpless.

Young Master Bu, you really know how to play.

People can’t write anymore, they become eunuchs, and a general reader would just curse a few times.

You, on the other hand, drag the person back and lock him up in a dark room?

A thousand kilometers from Shimen City, in Zhe Province,

in a smoky little room less than ten square meters,

a young man with a scruffy beard sat in front of the computer, holding a bottle of alcohol in his left hand, a cigarette in his right, his feet propped up on the desk, staring at the yellowed ceiling with an expression of decay.

”Failed again, is there really such a thing as destiny in this world? Can’t I make a living by writing?”

As Gong Hui spoke, tears involuntarily began to well up in his eyes.

Several unread messages were displayed on his phone next to him.

Parents: ”Son, listen to me, we are not cut out for this line of work, I’ve asked around, there’s a vacancy in an electronics factory, come back soon.”

Girlfriend: ”Let’s break up.”

Landlord: ”I’m telling you, ignoring my calls won’t help, if you don’t pay the rent, move out in three days.”

Classmate: ”Hey, great writer, so you became a eunuch? Didn’t you say it would definitely work?”

Comments from the novel website app: ”Trash author, finally stopped writing? What kind of crap were you writing?”

Gong Hui didn’t need to look to know what the messages said; he almost knew them by heart.

He had always hoped that he could, like the protagonist of his novel, achieve a great comeback and impress everyone.

But...

Novels are just novels, and reality harshly slapped him across the face!

What he hadn’t noticed though, were the latest few messages on his phone.

”Prodigal Lu Xiaobu rewards—10000 Book Coins.”

”Prodigal Lu Xiaobu rewards—10000 Book Coins.”

”Prodigal Lu Xiaobu rewards—10000 Book Coins.”

”...”

Eighteen consecutive identical messages, all ignored by him.

Gong Hui took another big swig from his bottle.

Sadness and alcohol, even more intoxicating!

Just when he was getting dizzily drunk.

”Bang.”

His room door was opened.

A burly man walked in, it was Zhang Meng.

”You are the author of ’City’s Strongest God’s System,’ right?”

Zhang Meng looked at this decadent man and asked.

”That’s me. What about it?” Gong Hui, dizzily, asked.

”My Young Master really likes your novel. You turned it into an eunuch, and he wasn’t happy. He wants to lock you in a dark room to write novels.”

Zhang Meng twitched his mouth as he relayed Lu Xiaobu’s order.

He suddenly remembered something, the Young Master seemed to have said nothing about compensation.

This is going to be complicated.

How to take him away now?

”Joking? Stop kidding me,” Gong Hui drunkenly said, ”Someone likes my novel? Don’t lie to me! How is that possible? I’m just trash, just garbage!”

”It’s true. Are you willing to come with me?” Zhang Meng asked seriously.

”If what you say is true, even if it’s a dark room, so what?”

Gong Hui burped from the alcohol, his eyelids still battling.

Only in his dreams could he see himself able to support himself by writing novels.

”You agree? That’s good. It doesn’t count as kidnapping then.”

Zhang Meng lifted Gong Hui onto his shoulder, paid the overdue rent to the landlord, and strode away.

Yes, just like that, the future King of feel-good novels began his journey in the dark room!

The smiling face in his sleep, unaware of what kind of nightmare was awaiting him!
