Prodigal System in the Flourishing City

Chapter 5: Chapter 5 Defeat the Bastard (2nd Update)

”Young Master Bu, then I...”

The speaker was the same person who had just snatched the box for Lu Xiaobu; his face now flushed red, clearly not accustomed to asking for money.

Lu Xiaobu looked at the man and nodded approvingly—good material for a lackey.

He had seen earlier that this guy had exceptional skills; facing those competitors, he casually tossed one after another aside and easily got the box: ”What’s your name?”

”Zhang Meng.”

”Do you have a military background, looking at your build?”

”Yes.”

”Interested in working with me?”

”As a bodyguard?”

”No, as a lackey.”

”Uh...” Zhang Meng hesitated.

”The same as Li Xide, ten thousand a month, tips not included.”

Zhang Meng: ”My respects, Young Master.”

”Don’t call me Young Master, call me Young Master instead.”

”Alright, Young Master. No problem, Young Master.”

Wu Qianmin slapped her forehead, completely speechless.

What a wastrel.

What is even happening here?

Li Xide is one thing—he’s an employee, though unreliable.

And now? Directly recruiting lackeys?

And just for snatching a box, you’re paying someone ten thousand a month?

Even Li Xide who gave you physical aid isn’t as good as this!

”Okay, I’m happy today. There should be over thirty thousand in my card, with the passcode being six zeros. Consider it an advance for your monthly salary, and the extra is your tip. Off you go, take a half day off, change clothes. Report back in the evening.”

Lu Xiaobu happily tossed his bank card to Zhang Meng.

”Are you insane?!”

Wu Qianmin suddenly jumped up.

Buying phones to smash for fun is one thing, hiring someone for ten thousand is another.

And now you’re even giving your bank card away?

There’s over thirty thousand left in it.

Is this how you give a tip?

”I...”

Holding the bank card, Zhang Meng was at a loss for words for a while, then he suddenly turned and walked away.

”Don’t go.”

Wu Qianmin was anxious.

Although she had decided to move out immediately, she couldn’t just watch this wastrel get swindled like this.

It was different from not paying Li Xide yet; his matter could still be discussed, but this was different!

But at this moment, there was no trace of Zhang Meng to be found on the street.

The bystanders also started murmuring.

”Hey, Lu Xiaobu, the wastrel, got conned.”

”Yeah, the guy just left a potentially fake name, we don’t even know his ID, he’s definitely a scammer.”

”If I knew it was this easy, I would have conned him myself.”

”What an interesting day, the wastrel ends up taking in a beggar and a scammer.”

”...”

Wu Qianmin couldn’t catch up to Zhang Meng, and returned to Lu Xiaobu’s side, angrily saying: ”Lu Xiaobu, are you stupid? 30,000 yuan! You just gave it to someone you know nothing about? Have you gone mad?! You never used to squander money like this!”

”It’s fine, it’s fine, just 30,000 yuan, no big deal. Even if I get scammed, consider it a lesson bought, affluence allows for caprice.”

However, Lu Xiaobu was quite happy. In his previous life, he lived protected behind the human wall of soldiers, and later on, he received no shortage of help from the military.

He couldn’t repay them in his last life, so he thought he might as well do it in this life.

He didn’t think Zhang Meng was a scammer.

So what if I’ve been tricked? Money can’t buy happiness!

After all, the newbie task is completed, time for the lottery draw, wahaha! Awesome!

”System, system, time for the lottery draw.” Lu Xiaobu said excitedly.

The system replied, ”Granted.”

A big wheel immediately appeared in front of Lu Xiaobu, divided into eight equal parts, which were: Eat, Drink, Play, Enjoy, Clothes, Shelter, Travel, Special.

”I understand all the other parts, but what does ’Special’ mean?” Lu Xiaobu asked.

”Anything that doesn’t fit into other categories goes under ’Special’.” The system answered bluntly: ”Too lazy to bother, I’ll deal with it later.”

”That’s my system, alright. You’ve got style.” Lu Xiaobu agreed fully: ”Can’t you just tell me the result of the lottery? I’m too lazy to draw!”

”Err...” the system was at a loss for words: ”I’m impressed, really impressed with your laziness!”

Lu Xiaobu: ”Mutual, mutual.”

The system said, ”Alright, you’ve won the technology to manufacture mobile phone CPUs. You can transfer this technology to others and take it back anytime without worrying about leaks.”

Lu Xiaobu was delighted: ”Hey, not bad. Getting exactly what I need. Did you cheat for me? With the core technology in hand, we can finalise the smartphone. After all, other technology in this world seems pretty mature.”

The system replied: ”From now on, don’t bother me unless it’s really necessary. I’m too lazy to talk.”

Lu Xiaobu: ”What about missions?”

The system said, ”Too lazy to assign them. Unless something urgent like today’s newbie task comes up, just assume I’m out to get soy sauce.”

Lu Xiaobu: ”Works for me. I love it that you’ve got such an attitude, no wonder you’re my system. We’re a perfect match.”

The system: ”...”

After frustrating the system, Lu Xiaobu laughed gleefully, and then said: ”Li Xide, let’s go, time to return home. I’m broke and can’t spend recklessly anymore. Should have taken out the SIM card when I threw the phone away, now I have to make a trip back.”

He had just glanced at the prices of attribute points in the shop, 100,000 per point. The first goal is to find a way to max out my attribute points, isn’t it?

He did some quick calculations, to max out all attributes would cost 24.7 million. Let’s round it off to an even 25 million... Oh well, round it to 30 million... Actually, let’s settle on 50 million.

Waste it!

”Yes, Young Master,” Li Xide immediately nodded.

Wu Qianmin felt a bit crazy upon hearing Lu Xiaobu speak.

50,000 yuan, that was 50,000 yuan.

That’s enough for an ordinary family to live for a year, and he’d managed to waste it all in such a short time?!

The key thing was, no one knew where all that money went.

Let’s do the math.

He bought a cell phone for 88,888, and then smashed it!

Snatched a box, gave someone 5,000!

The mobile phone shop owner did nothing, and got 5,000!

And the last, even more brutally, simply gave a swindler over 30,000!

And that’s not counting those continual small expenses, the 20,000 spent every month.

What’s all this?

Is this what you call whimsical spending?

It’s clearly burning money!

A genuine wastrel, truly!

Luckily, I won’t have to see this wastrel after tomorrow!

”Farewell, Young Master Bu.”

With the mobile phone shop owner and all the sales clerks seeing him off, Lu Xiaobu left the cell phone shop.

They had just walked out the door.

”Eh? Isn’t that Big Brother and Second Brother?” Lu Xiaobu saw two men not far away and immediately felt amused, ”Now that’s great, no need to go home for money. Time to ask for some.”

”Big Brother, Second Brother,” Lu Xiaobu bounced over to Lu Hongbin and Lu Wenhao.

”Xiaobu? What are you doing here? Weren’t you at a gathering? Come on, come in,” Lu Hongbin said affectionately, leading Lu Xiaobu into the shop.

They had just signed a contract for this shop, which used to be a restaurant, and the original owner was still there.

As they walked in, Lu Xiaobu excitedly pulled out a piece of paper and tossed it to Li Xide: ”Take a look at this.”

Then he ran to the drinks cabinet: ”Coke, Coke, got any Coke?”

”What is this!” Li Xide, holding the piece of paper, started trembling with a mixture of ecstasy and fear on his face.

”How can this be?!” Lu Wenhao, the scholarly Lu Family’s second son, accidentally glimpsed the paper and was also startled.
