Prodigal System in the Flourishing City

Chapter 2: Chapter 2: Money, Squandering, and Chasing Girls: The Complete Dragon

Wu’s mom left, and till the end, she didn’t understand why.

Lu’s dad watched Wu’s mom’s departing figure and muttered to himself, ”Wu’s mom, don’t blame me. I know you look down on Xiaobu, but I don’t blame you. However, he’s my son, and I don’t want him to face cold looks even at home.”

”People think Xiaobu burnt out his health with indulgence, but as his dad, I know that he has been frail since birth. The doctor even said he wouldn’t live past ten and had us prepare for the worst.”

”That’s why our whole family treats Xiaobu like a treasure, pampering him, fearful that he might not be with us one day.”

”Know why we call him Lu Xiaobu? As long as he has a healthy body like Lu Bu, so what if he squanders our fortune? So what if he earns a bad reputation? We don’t care. We have money, and we’re happy to spend it.”

Lu Hongbin approached: ”Okay, dad, no more talking. Xiaobu has broken the curse of ten years old. He’ll be safe and sound.”

Lu Wenhao said: ”Yes, dad, I will go help big brother. Besides, Xiaobu will be down soon, don’t let him hear this.”

Speaking of the devil, and Cao Cao appears.

”Dad, Big Bro, Second Bro,” as Lu Xiaobu thought about how to squander money, he excitedly ran down from upstairs: ”Give me money, I’m going on a spending spree.”

”Pff!” Hearing Lu Xiaobu’s straightforward words, the three of them laughed—this brat, not ashamed but proud of it!

”Alright, here you go, there’s twenty thousand in this card, just use it, the PIN is still six zeros.” Lu Hongbin fondly pulled out a bank card while looking at Lu Xiaobu.

”Not enough, not enough,” Lu Xiaobu immediately shook his head. ”I need fifty thousand today.”

”Fifty thousand? Okay, I’ll transfer it to you later. What are you planning? A party or treating someone? Needing fifty thousand?” Lu Hongbin asked with a laugh.

”Yeah, throwing a party.” Lu Xiaobu smiled wide, happy with his scheme to squander money.

”Have fun and enjoy yourself, just remember not to drink too much. Your body can’t handle it,” Lu Hongbin advised while straightening Lu Xiaobu’s clothes, smiling.

”Thanks, big brother.”

Lu Xiaobu felt warm inside. In his past life, he was an orphan and never experienced familial warmth, but at this moment, he could feel it.

”Hey, when did this brat start being so polite? Used to just grab the money and run, it’s not that there isn’t enough money, right?”

Lu Hongbin rolled his eyes: ”Alright, if it’s not enough, just call me. Go, and remember to take Qianmin with you, don’t go out alone.”

”Okay, got it.” Lu Xiaobu dashed out swiftly.

Qianmin was his neighbor, a budding beauty and his childhood friend. Because his family didn’t trust him to go out alone and they didn’t want to accompany him, they always asked Qianmin to go with him.

And if he didn’t take Qianmin, his family absolutely wouldn’t let him out.

”If Xiaobu could win Qianmin over, I’d die content,” Lu’s dad said with a hint of hope while watching Lu Xiaobu’s back.

”Him? Eh...” Lu Hongbin and Lu Wenhao exchanged glances, both sighed deeply, clearly thinking it unlikely.

...

”Qianmin.” Lu Xiaobu went over to the equally luxurious villa next door and knocked on the door.

The door opened, and a striking beauty stood at the door, hands on her hips, ”Lu Xiaobu, you’re going to squander again, right?”

”Ts ts ts, such a beautiful lady coming out of the water; even angry, you look so pretty,” Lu Xiaobu exclaimed in admiration.

He wasn’t just flattering; indeed, the woman in front of him had skin smooth as butter, radiant as snow, wearing a white home dress that showed off her jade-like legs, hair draped over her shoulders, which highlighted her beautiful face, even when stern, making her too stunning to look directly at.

He was instantly mesmerized, his heart racing.

”When did you become such a sweet talker?” Wu Qianmin rolled her eyes at Lu Xiaobu, but she still accepted his compliment, feeling somewhat pleased, ”This lady goes out with you every Sunday, don’t even have time for dramas, so it’s only right you compliment me. I’ll go change, wait for me.”

Although she and Lu Xiaobu grew up together, she harbored no romantic feelings for him.

Actually, as his squandering became more extreme, she began to despise the wastrel Lu Xiaobu more and more.

So her company was only out of kindness and due to social obligations.

Previously, it was fine, but as they both grew older, always being seen together definitely led to gossip—being called a gold digger, superficial, shameless for money, and even harsher words she was too embarrassed to mention.

So she decided, today would be the last time; she was going to be honest with this wastrel tonight.

She had already contacted a moving company.

”Where today?” Dressed and wearing sunglasses, Wu Qianmin asked with a pout.

”Squander! Going to squander!” Lu Xiaobu shouted excitedly—aiming high.

”Enough, aren’t you ashamed? Hurry up and let’s go.”

Wu Qianmin hurriedly grabbed the almost jumping Lu Xiaobu and guided him out.

She had already seen the scorn in the eyes of those around, probably about to start cursing.

This further solidified her resolve to distance herself from this proudly wasteful scourge.

”Where to squander?”

Lu Xiaobu pulled out his phone, ready to look up extravagant destinations like bars or casinos...

Result.

Lu Xiaobu looked at the outdated push-button phone in his hand: ”Damn, a wastrel using this kind of phone? Isn’t this embarrassing?”

Wu Qianmin rolled her eyes: ”That phone of yours is an Angel Brand phone worth 8888, still embarrassing?”

”This phone is worth 8888?” Lu Xiaobu scoffed, and threw it into a nearby drain.

”Wastrel, I...”

Wu Qianmin almost cursed out loud.

She hadn’t expected an 8888 worth phone to be discarded just like that?

You know, even a broken Angel Brand phone can sell for over 4000!

Finally, she stamped her foot and chose to keep silent and follow Lu Xiaobu—it’s the last day anyway, no anger, stay calm...

After they left, someone saw the phone in the gutter, eyes gleaming, quickly went to retrieve it: ”No way, an Angel Brand phone worth 8888? Jackpot!”

Upon hearing this, everyone around rushed over to grab it.

”Mine, mine.”

”This is mine.”

”I saw it first.”

”...”
