Prodigal System in the Flourishing City

Chapter 1: Chapter 1: The Prodigal Son Goes to War

Earn money? Why should I earn money? Earning money is other people’s business. My mission is to squander wealth, enjoy life, and slack off until I die! Hey, you ask how I became the richest person in the world by squandering? How the hell would I know?

—Quotes from Lu Xiaobu, the prodigal!

...

Lu Xiaobu, groggy from sleep, threw his alarm clock, which woke him up, and continued to doze off.

”Wait a minute, where the hell is this?” Lu Xiaobu sat up with a jolt, looking around the unfamiliar surroundings and wondered, ”I remember getting hit by a car while saving those two naughty kids.”

At this moment, a stream of memories that were not his own flooded into his mind. Eighty percent of the content involved debauchery, and the rest were simple everyday memories. After all, the memories involved only spending money, never earning it, so there was nothing important.

In short, three words—Prodigal Son!

After a moment, Lu Xiaobu realized he had been reborn into the body of a prodigal son.

He suddenly burst into laughter, ”Hahaha, this is awesome! This is exactly the life I wanted, the highest realm of life is to squander freely and slack off. Hahaha, good deeds do get rewarded, heaven has eyes!”

At that moment, a voice in his mind interrupted his hearty laughter.

”Host, you’re awake? Then get ready to start squandering!”

”What the hell?” Lu Xiaobu jumped in shock.

”Let me introduce myself, I am the Prodigal System. Host, please don’t be surprised, recall the system-based novels you’ve read, and you’ll understand my existence,” said the system.

Lu Xiaobu: ”...”

System: ”Why isn’t the host talking?”

Lu Xiaobu rolled his eyes: ”You’ve said it all, what more can I say? Since I’ve been reborn anyway, having a Golden Finger is normal. Go ahead and introduce it.”

System: ”Prodigal System, of course, is about squandering. Through the amount of squandering, you can do a lottery draw here or purchase things from the store. Spend a million for one lottery draw.”

Lu Xiaobu: ”Aside from the fact that I’ve never even seen a million in my previous life, the rest is simple. Whatever, let’s get the money. I’m going to start squandering right now, I’ve always wanted to try living a life with too much money and nowhere to spend it!”

System: ”Who are you asking for money? Squandering means asking your family for money, what are you asking me for?”

Lu Xiaobu: ”Uh... fair point. Based on my memories, it seems my family is quite wealthy. I’m going to start squandering.”

System: ”Given that this is the host’s first time using this system, a beginner task is arranged specifically for you. It’s simple, squander fifty thousand by midnight, reward with one lottery draw chance, no penalties, offer expires after the deadline.”

”No big deal.” Lu Xiaobu smiled nonchalantly. Spending money? That’s nothing.

System: ”By the way, a reminder for the host, you are in a parallel universe to Earth, called Water Blue Star. Many things will be different here.”

”ojbk, I’m off to squander. When the prodigal son sets out, not a blade of grass grows. Bathing with company, girls moving on their own, just thinking about it excites me! Hahaha!” Lu Xiaobu laughed and jumped out of bed...

”Thud.”

Lu Xiaobu felt weak and suddenly fell to the ground. Looking down at his body, he was stunned: ”Damn, why am I so weak?”

System: ”Your predecessor exhausted his body completely, and died of debilitation. It’s no wonder you’re weak. Otherwise, for reincarnation to occur, there needs to be a reason, even if it’s good karma.”

Lu Xiaobu pinched his arm, which didn’t even have two ounces of flesh, and wanted to cry: ”How weak can it be! Even if the girls make their moves, this body can’t even handle it.”

System: ”Strength: 28. Speed: 39. Health: 31. Sexual Ability: 25. Note: Normal human index is 100.”

”Wait, what?!” Lu Xiaobu was fine until he heard the last part. He frantically opened his pants, looked down, and his face fell: ”Half a pinky size? Now that’s great, when the girls make their move, it’s not that my body can’t handle it, but that I won’t feel a thing. System, I’m going to kill myself now, send me back, how about that?”

System: ”Don’t lose heart, you can buy attribute points in the store, one hundred thousand per point. As long as you squander enough, turning your little dink into a towering tree is not a problem.”

”Bankruptcy! Bankruptcy! This is bankruptcy!” Lu Xiaobu heard the system’s words and immediately got excited again, standing on the ground and wildly waving his fists: ”Bankruptcy for the sake of the towering tree!”

What he didn’t notice was that not far behind a window, a pair of eyes beautiful like the stars were watching him. After a long time, the struggle in those beautiful eyes turned into disappointment and determination.

...

At the Lu Family’s breakfast table downstairs.

Lu Family’s eldest, Lu Hongbin, walked to the dining table and sat down: ”Dad, the store on the business street signed the contract today, I’m going over to check.”

”Okay.” Mr. Lu nodded: ”Let Wenhao go with you, he should help you too.”

”Hey, I’m not going, I still have to study.” Lu Wenhao, the second son of the Lu Family, came over and refused.

”You graduated two years ago.” Lu Hongbin rolled his eyes.

”The sea of learning is boundless; I just got my PhD today.” Wenhao boasted while shaking Mr. Lu.

Mr. Lu showed a hint of impatience: ”You graduated again? How many times are you going to graduate?”

Wenhao pouted: ”I actually didn’t study that much, just three Bachelor’s degrees, two Master’s degrees, and this is my first Doctorate. I’ve decided, my next goal is to study music.”

Mr. Lu and Lu Hongbin were instantly speechless.

”Brother, our new store is about to open. I’m begging you, come help!” Lu Hongbin said.

”No, I want to be a romantic wandering singer.” Wenhao said with longing.

”Wandering singer? That’s the same as a wandering beggar. If you don’t help your elder brother, what about Xiaobu, that little rascal?” Mr. Lu scolded.

”Xiaobu, ah...” Wenhao fell silent.

Not just him, everyone at the table sighed in unison: ”Ah...”

And the maid, Mother Wu, upon hearing the three words ’Lu Xiaobu’, showed a hint of contempt in her eyes.

Speaking of the Lu Family, it really was like a family blessed through generations.

The eldest, Lu Hongbin, was adept in business, supporting all the family’s expenses alone.

The second son, Lu Wenhao, was extremely gifted, known far and wide as a great talent, said to be the reincarnation of the Star of Literature.

But the youngest son, knowing neither books nor business, completely useless, only knew how to spend money and bring bankruptcy, spending hundreds of thousands, sometimes even millions a month.

Contrary to the second son of the Lu Family, whenever people in this area spoke of Lu Xiaobu, it was always chaos, cursing him as a reincarnated catastrophe.

Moreover, it was said he had wrecked his health, probably close to death, but maybe that was for the better...

After all, if the Lu Family didn’t have this little calamity, they might indeed have a place on the list of the wealthy!

”Mother Wu, you don’t need to come tomorrow.” And at this moment, Mr. Lu suddenly sighed and said: ”Hongbin, pay Mother Wu later, give her more, consider it compensation.”

”Yes, Father.” Hongbin nodded without showing any confusion.

Only Wenhao, who was somewhat low in emotional intelligence, did not quite understand, but he more or less guessed with his strong intelligence.

”Master, why? Did I do something wrong?” Mother Wu, who was still muttering about Lu Xiaobu, was suddenly startled and hurriedly asked.

This job was both easy and well-paid, and she didn’t want to be fired!
