Rebirth before Apocalypse: My Whole Family are Bigshots!

”Mom and Dad, I’m back.”

A young and handsome man pushed the door open and came in, carrying a lively hen in his hand.

The hen looked the same as it did before the apocalypse. It hadn’t mutated and was just an ordinary livestock.

In the midst of the apocalypse, it was rare to find an animal that hadn’t mutated.

The Song parents silently put away the photo album when they saw their son return, suppressing the sadness on their faces into their hearts.

Song Ning glanced at the photo album and knew that his parents were thinking of his sister again.

Song Ning sighed gently, showing a hint of sadness on his face, and placed the lively hen in the kitchen, pretending he hadn’t seen the photo album.

He tried his best to put on a smile.

The past was, after all, in the past.

His sister had already perished in the mouths of the zombies. Song Kerou said she saw Wenwen being eaten clean by a group of zombies, without even a chance to turn into a zombie herself.

When he hurried to the scene, like everyone else, he only saw a pool of blood in shades of black and red.

”Mom and Dad, where’s Kerou?”

Song Ning looked around the living room but didn’t see Song Kerou, frowning slightly.

This sister was one he genuinely accepted, as did the Song parents.

Because back then, to save his own sister, they truly took her in as a child of the Song Family.

But later, she increasingly showed her true nature, never content, using Wenwen’s things without permission, pretending to be innocent while crying over trivial matters.

Honestly, everyone in the Song Family could see through Song Kerou’s little schemes.

A non-biological child, after all, isn’t the same as a biological one.

No matter how you raise them, some just never grow close.

Since Wenwen’s death, they weren’t as kind to Kerou as before because she was taken in for Wenwen’s sake.

Originally, she could have truly replaced the deceased Song Wenwen as the only little princess of the Song Family, but her actions made the Song Family very resentful.

For instance, Song Kerou would bizarrely speak ill of the deceased Song Wenwen, slander her beauty, and claim she intentionally enticed others.

Song Kerou thought that by tarnishing Song Wenwen’s image, she could completely replace her, but it only made the Song Family believe more that Song Kerou is Song Kerou, and would never become Song Wenwen.

Now, they just regarded her as an extra person in the family, hoping she wouldn’t go out and cause trouble for the family.

”Upstairs.”

Mrs. Song said quietly.

Song Ning nodded and said nothing more.

As long as she doesn’t cause trouble outside, the family’s superpowers are indeed quite formidable, but there are many Superpower Users in the base who are stronger than them.

Don’t let this person make it difficult for the family at the safety base.

Song Ning fully understood Song Kerou’s character, knowing she would always cry and complain about the smallest matters and play the victim first.

Once, his sister Song Wenwen suffered a lot because of this.

Thinking of this, Song Ning became increasingly unwelcoming towards Song Kerou.

Song Ning stepped into the kitchen, starting to prepare the hen he brought back for a good meal.

”By the way, Dad, the Base Commander wants you to visit him later!”

Seeing his parents feeling a bit better, Song Ning quickly informed Mr. Song about the Base Commander’s request.

”Alright, I’ll go right away.”

Mr. Song stood up from the sofa, his tall and imposing figure now completely different from the sad man slumped on the sofa earlier.

He exuded a commanding aura, just standing there made others feel a deep sense of awe.

He was the head of the Song Family, once possessing billions in assets in Shanghai. Before the apocalypse, he had awakened a Spiritual Ability, capable of controlling humans and even the behavior of zombies.

Song Hongfei walked quickly, not stopping along the way, heading straight for the building where the Base Commander was located.

On his way, he happened to pass by the black market.

He encountered a young couple head-on.

The girl seemed innocent and pure, with a harmless appearance.

The boy looked about in his twenties, yet his face carried a maturity and composure beyond his years.

What shocked Song Hongfei the most were the boy’s facial features, this person looked...

Song Hongfei was stunned for a long time, and by the time he reacted, the couple had already walked far away.

He shook his head and continued walking towards the building.

Soon, he arrived at Yunhua Safety Base’s main building, which had over twenty floors, making it relatively low compared to other structures, as Yunhua Safety Base was located near Shanghai, an area sparsely populated before the apocalypse.

This building counted as one of the taller constructions in the vicinity.

The top floor housed the Base Commander’s office.

It’s rumored that the Base Commander was incredibly powerful, having once traveled around Shanghai alone, and even swam in the Huangpu River.

It’s said that the Base Commander single-handedly exhausted a Zombie King.

The so-called exhausting the Zombie King meant eliminating all the zombies under the Zombie King’s control, leaving no zombies within the range of the Zombie King’s brainwave to command.

Then proving with his strength that the Zombie King wasn’t that terrifying.

The true power of the Base Commander was a legend within Yunhua Safety Base.

Since the establishment of Yunhua Safety Base, it has been smooth sailing.

Smooth sailing meant that they hadn’t encountered any difficulties.

All so-called difficulties were resolved by the Base Commander single-handedly.

It was said that the entire Yunhua Safety Base, even before the apocalypse, was the Base Commander’s private realm, making him a tycoon among tycoons.

Yet all these were rumors, and many people hadn’t even seen the Base Commander in person.

Some people believed the rumors were just stories, tales spun to ease people’s minds by the Base Commander.

Others believed the stories might be true - why couldn’t humanity have such a powerful individual leading all of them?

Song Hongfei sat in the elevator, adjusting his clothes slightly, his expression growing serious.

The entire building, and indeed the entire safety base, was essentially unrestricted in electricity usage, powered by Thunder Ability Users.

Most of the electricity was generated by the Base Commander when he was bored.

Thus, while other safety bases struggled with electricity shortages, seeking Thunder Ability Users to store power desperately, Yunhua Safety Base was brightly lit at night.

Many thought the tales about the Base Commander were false - how could a human exhaust the Zombie King?

But Song Hongfei knew the legends were true.

Before the apocalypse, the Song Family was already considered a wealthy clan, and the Base Commander’s wealth surpassed his own.

After the apocalypse, he personally witnessed the Base Commander single-handedly eliminate all the zombies under a Zombie King’s command...

A humanly impossible feat.

”Knock, knock, knock!”

Song Hongfei gently knocked on the door in front of him, feeling a bit nervous.

Whether before or after the apocalypse, he always felt inexplicably tense facing this person.

”Come in.”

A cold voice came from within the room.

Song Hongfei then pushed the door open and entered.

The room was simply furnished, just a standard desk and chair.

But as soon as he entered, Song Hongfei felt an invisible pressure, just being in the same room with the Base Commander was overwhelming.
