Rebirth before Apocalypse: My Whole Family are Bigshots!

He thought that once he returned home, everything would be as before, his heart would feel much more grounded, and he wouldn’t feel so lonely.

He could find childhood friends to brag with, claiming he had gained impressive superpowers, just like in the zombie movies they watched as kids.

He thought the villagers would praise him as they used to, commend him.

Because he could use his abilities to ensure that the villagers no longer had to worry about zombie invasions.

They’d say, here was the only renowned university graduate from their village, truly promising, able to protect everyone even in an apocalyptic world, encouraging village children to learn from him!

In reality, he became the villagers’ enemy before even entering the village.

Even before reaching the village, the villagers began to guard against him, because standing behind him were the zombie colleagues he brought back.

He thought going home meant returning home, that no matter when, no matter how he changed, home would always be his refuge, never rejecting his return.

But when his father saw the zombies behind him, although he didn’t wield an axe like the other villagers, there was still a hint of fear visible in his eyes.

Those zombies that terrified the villagers were his colleagues, just like him, also zombies.

Did this mean that both his father and the villagers were deeply afraid of his presence?

This realization made him increasingly gloomy as he prepared to return home.

If home couldn’t accept him, then perhaps turning everyone into zombies could make him less lonely?

Just like before, the whole village gathered together.

That day, he controlled many zombies and encircled the villagers.

Then, one by one, he transformed the villagers into zombies.

He felt no joy of victory, nor did he feel closer to the villagers even after they became zombies.

He understood that there was no way to communicate with these ordinary zombies; they were monsters, bloodthirsty monsters.

Thus, he did not turn his father into a zombie.

It wasn’t about father-son sentiments; he simply felt that in such a vast village, having only himself with consciousness was too lonely.

The quieter the village became, the more he was reminded of past events.

He worked near the seaside, never learned to swim, rarely went surfing when he was human, and never learned how.

The poverty of his household meant that apart from his studies, he was outshone in everything else.

Even after starting work, he remained very frugal, always considering spending money on entertainment as extravagant.

So, after becoming a zombie, he went to the seaside on his own.

Zombies didn’t need to breathe, and he effortlessly learned to swim.

That was probably his happiest day as a zombie, yet it was also the most terrifying.

Because, he saw a scene at the bottom of the sea that he could never forget.

He frantically escaped from the seabed, never daring to approach the shore again.

Whenever he thought of that day, fear crept into his heart, realizing that for someone who had already died once, dying again would be final.

Even on land, he was afraid, believing that the things from the sea would one day come ashore, and how could human superpower users possibly defeat those terrifying ocean creatures?

Thus, he began teaching the ordinary zombies in the village how to enhance their powers.

Enhancing the powers of ordinary zombies was simple; they just needed to continuously devour flesh.

He could have controlled the zombies to hunt humans everywhere, but he didn’t do so.

He thought he should keep a low profile, because in Shanghai, there were three incredibly powerful Zombie Kings, a family of three, any one of them could easily control him with their brainwaves, forcing him into submission.

He didn’t want to submit; he wanted his own strength to... protect himself.

Thinking of the scenes he saw in the ocean made him increasingly anxious.

Zombies couldn’t evolve without devouring flesh.

So, he began capturing people from surrounding villages and keeping them in the homes of the zombie villagers he raised, drinking blood daily, enabling the zombie villagers to gradually become stronger than ordinary zombies.

He actually only needed to absorb crystal cores.

But he couldn’t restrain his instincts; ordinary human blood was too picky for him, prompting him to capture some superpower users.

Relieving his bloodthirsty instincts and enhancing his power.

The blood of superpower users was far superior to ordinary human blood!

Li Mucheng sat on the sofa, ignoring the commotion outside, reached out to pick up a tall wine glass from the table.

The red liquid inside the glass was eerily vivid, and as Li Mucheng swirled it, the red liquid rolled up and down within.

Li Mucheng took a light sip, his throat moved slightly, unable to feign elegance, the next moment he opened his mouth wide, hastily pouring the liquid into his mouth.

His eyes radiated a savage fury, the bloodthirsty emotions in his mind reached its peak.

The red liquid in the glass made him utterly indulged.

Not enough, not enough...

He needed more.

Some red liquid trickled from the corner of his mouth, Li Mucheng wiped it with his hand and licked it clean.

Only when all the red blood was consumed, did Li Mucheng’s eyes return to clarity.

Gurgle—

His stomach rumbled noisily.

Li Mucheng touched his stomach, unfamiliar with the feeling of fullness, gazed outside through the window on the second floor, barely catching a glimpse of a blue bus wheel.

Li Mucheng tidied his clothes, slowly stood up, and steadily walked downstairs.

Behind him followed over a dozen suited and sinister-looking zombies.

Upon reaching the first floor, the sinister-looking zombies paused slightly, reluctantly glancing at a room.

”Haha, you’re hungry too, aren’t you?” Li Mucheng chuckled softly, continued, ”Don’t worry, there are several superpower users outside, soon I’ll treat you to one!”

The sinister-looking zombies growled softly, their voices immensely suppressed.

Leading them, Li Mucheng’s face bore a faint smile, his right thumb and index finger rubbed together repeatedly, his slender fingers appeared strikingly pleasing to the eye.

The sun had begun to set, the sky carried the last rays of sunlight.

The sunset’s glow stained the sky red, appearing incredibly magnificent.

If a young person with a poetic soul were here, they would surely find this scene beautiful, reciting lines like ”The sunset with the lonely duck flying together, the autumn water merging with the sky.”

Li Mucheng squinted his eyes, observing the sun about to disappear below the horizon, a trace of confusion flickered across his face.
