Rebirth before Apocalypse: My Whole Family are Bigshots!

”My son is a great talent. He was smart and clever as a child, always scored full marks in school, and was the top student in the whole school! He graduated from a prestigious university and had a good job after graduation. He won’t be executed.”

The old man was stunned for a moment by Bai Zhengxuan’s words, then retorted.

But it was unclear whether these words were directed at Bai Zhengxuan or at himself.

”I can’t be bothered to talk to you!”

Bai Zhengxuan waved his hand irritably and turned away from the stubborn old man in front of him.

This old man spoiled his son too much, believing that his son was the best in the world.

Little did he know that, in such a worldview, it would make his son even more self-centered and do as he pleased.

Because when parents only encourage him, he feels everything he does is right.

The old man saw that Bai Zhengxuan was ignoring him and stopped paying attention to Bai Zhengxuan.

His eyes occasionally glanced out the window.

Sweat trickled down his forehead.

He feared they had really found his son!

What if a fight breaks out?

There were so many zombie villagers outside, but this family wasn’t afraid at all. They stayed in the village never leaving.

This proved they really weren’t afraid of zombies!

Thinking of this, the old man became a bit flustered.

When his son’s interests weren’t involved, the old man could choose to be a good person.

But when someone wanted to hurt his son, no matter what his son had done, as a father, he had to stand with his son.

”You guys better leave! My son is the Zombie King, the powerful Zombie King they talked about on the radio!”

The old man’s voice was somewhat uneasy.

As parents, they always worry about their child being bullied.

He clearly knew his son was in the wrong and felt very sympathetic towards those zombie villagers, yet he still firmly stood by his son.

”The people in the village have all turned into zombies, so who are those people in the yard?”

Bai Yifan glanced at the zombie villagers and suddenly thought of a significant issue.

Water Python mentioned from the start that besides the rotten smell of zombies in the yard, there was also the scent of humans!

The zombies they could see were basically families, including men, women, young, and old. It was evident that the villagers of Zombie Village had all turned into zombies.

So, who did that human scent belong to?

The old man remained silent, the worry on his face deepened.

”Those people must have been captured to be reserve food for the zombies!” Bai Xiqin glanced at the spinach on both sides of the road, her voice cold, ”Treating humans like blood bags, occasionally drawing a bag to feed zombies, what do you consider humans to be? Sheep?”

When Bai Xiqin first asked the old man where this place was, he replied that it was Sheep Village.

It turns out that this was truly Sheep Village in every sense of the word.

Treating humans like lambs waiting to be slaughtered!

How is this any different from the two-legged sheep spoken of during past famines?

The entire village had turned into zombies, capturing outsiders and raising them like sheep.

This is the truth about Sheep Village.

”I told you not to come in, now you should leave quickly, or if you’re captured, it might be too late.”

The old man didn’t answer Bai Xiqin’s question, just looked down at his feet.

It was unclear what expression he had, but his voice was noticeably trembling.

He didn’t want it to be like this, but his son was a zombie, and everyone in the village was a zombie. If they didn’t raise humans, what would his son eat? What would the villagers eat?

But he couldn’t break his own bottom line, nor did he want to harm others.

If he encountered someone wanting to enter the village, he would persuade them kindly not to come in.

Merely to make his guilty conscience feel a little better.

No matter what, he didn’t have the power to change the situation.

He didn’t understand why the world had become this way.

He was clearly nearing retirement age, yet had to endure such great suffering.

Bai Family members looked at the haggard, emaciated old man in front of them, unsure of what to say.

They wanted to curse him.

But the old man definitely wouldn’t listen.

He surely understood whether what he was doing was right or wrong and also understood that his son’s actions challenged the bottom line of humanity — turning the entire village into zombies.

But he just wouldn’t change.

It’s not that he didn’t want to change, but he feared his son would suffer, so he didn’t oppose his son in the slightest.

Though, even if he opposed, it wouldn’t make a difference; it’s just that the image of this old father is too much of an eyesore.

It makes one feel that this person spoils his son too much.

”Forget it, there’s no point in telling you. You know yourself, if you don’t change, no matter what others say, you won’t listen. You just stay up there!” Bai Zhengxuan waved his hand, ceasing to interact with the old man.

Let’s just keep this old man as a hostage!

Hopefully, they can trade for Old Liu and Old Wang.

Soon, the bus pulled up in front of a house with a tightly closed gate.

The gates of the adjacent courtyards were open, and zombie villagers rushed out.

Only the gate of this house was closed, indicating that the zombies inside hadn’t come out.

This was a rather ordinary-looking two-story building. It seemed newly built as the uncleaned lime from the painted walls could still be faintly seen.

The old man glanced at the two-story building, pride flashing briefly in his eyes.

He was a farmer without any skills, toiling all year yet barely earning any money, besides providing for his son’s education.

He actually had a burden on his mind, feeling guilty towards his son. After his son graduated university, he could have pursued a graduate degree.

But the family was completely out of money.

So, they could only let their son graduate and find a job.

After a few years of working, the son quickly saved some money and built a two-story house for the family.

Finally, they needn’t catch rainwater inside the house with basins during rainy days!

However, when the old man’s gaze fell upon the faint silhouettes behind the second-story windows, his eyes dimmed.

Those silhouettes had stiff bodies and inflexible limbs — they were zombies.

Bai Xiqin extended her hand out the window, then discreetly retracted it.

With outsiders present, Water Python couldn’t speak, so it gently tapped Bai Xiqin’s hand twice with its tail.

Indicating that Old Liu and Old Wang were inside!

Zombie villagers surrounded the bus, making a tight seal. To get out, they had to deal with these zombie villagers.

The zombie villagers were too numerous, mostly old folks and children, making it hard to act against them.

Hence, Bai Anhai took out a loudspeaker, connected it to the bus’s speaker system, and began addressing the house in front of them.

”Listen up, you zombies in there, you’re surrounded now! You can choose to remain silent, but everything you say will be used as evidence in court! Come out now, confess and receive leniency, resist and face severity. Hurry up and hand over Old Liu and Old Wang, or we’ll harm your old dad!”

Bai Anhai stood by the bus window, his voice rising and falling, words enunciated clearly.

The eloquent Mr. Bai, who passionately argued in court, was back!

”Did you... capture that zombie’s dad?”

The Zombie King remained silent, but a weak voice came from the house next door, where the gate was wide open.

Along with this voice came excited cries from other survivors.

”Finally, someone came to rescue us!”

”Help! We’re locked in the house by zombies!”

”Quickly, open the door!”
